How Many Classified Documents Were There
Many more classified documents appear to have been improperly stored at Mr. Trumps estate than at Mr. Bidens office.
Court filings say that 184 documents marked as classified were in the 15 boxes the National Archives initially retrieved from Mar-a-Lago. The Trump team turned over 38 more such records after the subpoena, and the F.B.I. found another 103 in its search.
The Biden administrations initial statement said a small number of documents marked as classified had been discovered in the closet at the Penn Biden Center. CBS News has reported there were about 10. The administrations statement on Thursday about the second batch found at his house in Wilmington similarly described it as a small number.
Pm: Biggs Resumes Attacks On Committee
After the committee paused for a 10-minute recess, Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., offered his assessment of what he had seen to that point.
The partisan January 6 committee is nothing more than an illegitimate show trial, he said in a tweet.
He included a photo that included an earlier statement from him as well.
The Democrats have basically corrupted every institution in America, Biggs said. The committee is designed for television. Its not designed to find truth. Its not designed to come up with a legitimate legislative purpose.
The statements build on Biggs view that the committees work is intended to harm Republicans.
Earlier on Thursday, Biggs noted his refusal to testify before the committee, saying this was political warfare and dangerously un-American.

How To Watch Trump Rally In Alaska: Time Live Stream For Gop Event
Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Alaska on Saturday to stump for his preferred Republican candidates in the state.
The âSave Americaâ rally will be held in Anchorage at the Alaska Airlines Center. Trump will be joined by the stateâs incumbent Republican Governor Mike Dunleavy as well as House candidate Sarah Palin, the stateâs former governor, and Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, who is running against incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski.
Speakers will take the stage at 1 p.m. local time in Anchorage , with doors opening at 11 a.m., according to Trumpâs website. The former president is scheduled to take the stage at 4 p.m. As is normally the case with the former presidentâs rallies, Right Side Broadcasting Network will be live streaming the event on its online channels, including YouTube and Rumble.
Tickets for the event are free but those wishing to attend can only reserve two tickets per mobile number. The tickets for the 5,000-person venue are first-come, first-serve, with many supporters of the former president expected to attend.
âIt will be a great honor to welcome President Trump to Alaska for what will be the greatest attended political event in our stateâs history. Hope you can join us!â Tshibaka, a former commissioner in the Alaska Department of Administration, tweeted on June 29 when the rally was announced.

Bidens Classified Documents Should Have No Impact On Trumps Legal Jeopardy
Given the facts as they are now known, only the most superficial parallel can be drawn between the two situations.
The recent discovery of a small number of classified documents, left over from President Joe Bidens time as vice president and found at his private office and home, has injected confusion into the publics understanding of whether any criminal liability might be appropriate for former President Donald Trump in connection with the huge trove of classified documents found last year at Mar-a-Lago.
Given the facts as they are now known, only the most superficial parallel can be drawn between Bidens possession of these documents and Trumps conduct relating to the documents held at Mar-a-Lago. To be clear, Biden having classified documents in unsecure, nongovernmental settings violates the law regarding the handling of such documents. Unfortunately, his administration has done itself no favor by its delayed disclosure of the problem, creating unnecessary suspicion and political turmoil.
Under these circumstances, Attorney General Merrick Garland has, in our view, acted wisely in appointing special counsels to fully evaluate the facts concerning both events, and his selection of a highly qualified, experienced prosecutorRobert K. Huris a sign that he is taking account of the need for public trust in the administration of justice.
Unclear If Trump Address Will Offer New Information
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Mr. Trump may offer some change in policy in Tuesday nights speech, but told reporters at the White House Tuesday afternoon the goal is to hit home the message of border security to the American people.
I think the president is going to bring his case directly to the American people, Conway said.
Conway said much of what the president says will strike the American people as new.

How About A Candidate For Governor
As for Michigans marquee race this election cycle the race for governor Trump has yet to endorse a candidate for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer this fall.
Politically speaking, that makes some sense, given that no front-runner has emerged. But its still entirely possible the former president could make a decision sometime, possibly soon. And whatever his delay, its not for lack of suitors.
At least seven of the candidates seeking the Republican nomination were expected to attend Saturdays rally. That includes former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, Oakland County businessman Perry Johnson, Norton Shores businesswoman Tudor Dixon, Ottawa County real estate agent Ryan Kelley, Oakland County pastor Ralph Rebandt, Livingston County evangelist Bob Scott, and Grand Rapids businesswoman Donna Brandenburg.
As for the others, Kalamazoo chiropractor Garrett Soldano is on a spring break vacation with his two young sons and is unable to attend, and Michigan State Police Capt. Mike Brown, of Stevensville, cited a prior campaign commitment. Grand Haven financial adviser Michael Markey said he also would be on a previously scheduled family vacation Saturday.
Also, as of Friday, Oakland County businessman and former auto dealer Kevin Rinke said he hadnt made a decision as to whether to attend, a spokeswoman said.

The Republican National Committee slammed Biden over the weekend for taking an extended vacation at a time when Americans are struggling to pay their bills amid the highest rate of inflation in 40 years.

Biden is spending nearly all of August on vacation while Americans are forced to cancel their summer travel because of historic inflation, high gas prices, and a recession. Biden should stop jet-setting from beach to beach and focus on fixing the crises he created,RNC spokeswoman Emma Vaughn said in a statement on Saturday.
The Republicans also noted that Biden was absent on the first anniversary of the Taliban reconquest of Afghanistan on Aug. 15.
Bidens 14-day break is not the longest among recent chief executives. Trump spent a stretch of 17 days away in Bedminster in his first August after becoming president, according to a count by the Washington Post.
Spokespeople for both presidents defended the getaways, noting that the pressing demands of the White House follow the commander-in-chief wherever they travel.
The presidency is a nonstop job that chief executives can do from anywhere in the world, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told the Washington Examiner during Bidens stay in South Carolina.
On Friday, the president and first lady plan to head back to Delaware for the weekend.

White Nationalists And Charlottesville Rally
On August 13, 2017, Trump condemned violence “on many sides” after a gathering of hundreds of white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia, the previous day turned deadly. A white supremacist drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one woman and injuring 19 others. According to Sessions, that action met the definition of domestic terrorism. During the rally there had been other violence, as some counter-protesters charged at the white nationalists with swinging clubs and mace, throwing bottles, rocks, and paint. Trump did not expressly mention Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, or the alt-right movement in his remarks on August 13, but the following day condemned “the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups“. On August 15, he again blamed “both sides”.

Trump will hold a Save America outdoor rally at York Family Farms in Cullman, which is in the heart of a Congressional district where four out of five voters supported him in 2016 and 2020.
Its his first speaking event in Alabama since campaigning for Luther Strange during the special election for the Senate in 2017.
Admission starts at 2 p.m. today live music, food and beverage concessions, and guest speakers.
The rally starts at 5 p.m. Alabama Republican Party Chair John Wahl said nine speakers are lined up to precede Trump. The former president takes the stage at 7 p.m.

The administration imposed far fewer financial penalties against banks and major companies accused of wrong-doing relative to the Obama administration.
In the first six weeks of his tenure, Trump suspended or in a few cases, revoked more than 90 regulations. In early 2017, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to slash two existing regulations for every new one . A September 2017 Bloomberg BNA review found that due to unclear wording in the order and the large proportion of regulations it exempts, the order had had little effect since it was signed. The Trump OMB released an analysis in February 2018 indicating the economic benefits of regulations significantly outweigh the economic costs. The administration ordered one-third of government advisory committees for federal agencies eliminated, except for committees that evaluate consumer product safety or committees that approve research grants.
Trump ordered a four-month government-wide hiring freeze of the civilian work force at the start of his term. He said he did not intend to fill many of the governmental positions that were still vacant, as he considered them unnecessary there were nearly 2,000 vacant government positions.
The administration ended the requirement that nonprofits, including political advocacy groups who collect so-called dark money, disclose the names of large donors to the IRS the Senate voted to overturn the administration’s rule change.

As the Democratic-led House committee begins showing its evidence, there are several major Arizona-related matters to clarify.
What does the committee say about the roles of Arizona Republican Reps. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs? The panel sought but failed to get Biggs testimony, but it didnt make a similar request of Gosar. That seems odd because they were both involved in many of the same activities that the committee indicated knowing more about.
Both, for example, attended a December 2020 strategy meeting at the White House and both pressed Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, R-Mesa, to help in their effort to question or replace the states certified election results.

Former President Donald Trump is holding his first rally of 2022 on January 15, an event where heâs likely to hit back at âweak Republicans,â the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 Capitol riot.
Trumpâs rally comes a week after the one-year anniversary of the January 6 insurrection, during which a mob of his supporters breached the Capitol. The former president has denied he bears any responsibility for the violence that transpired and has started dismissing that an insurrection occurred in January, calling the 2020 election the âreal insurrection.â
Trumpâs speech at the rally is set to begin at 7 p.m. mountain time and will take place at Canyon Moon Ranch in Florence, Arizona. Newsmax will live stream his remarks.
The former president is at the center of the investigation of the House committee looking into the Capitol riot and has fought the committeeâs quest for many of his records.
