Donald Trump To Be Headline Speaker At Cpac In Dallas

The Conservative Political Action Conference is holding a second event in Dallas, Texas, this weekend, with a headline speech from former President Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon.

CPAC is adding a summer event to its annual conference that usually takes place each February.

Matt Schlapp, head of the American Conservative Union, which runs CPAC, told The Post that to not have Donald Trump at CPAC would be disgraceful.

Schlapp went on to say that the former president has been leading the fight on the border, and against big tech. On Wednesday, , alleging the mammoth tech companies have violated his First Amendment rights.

They want to cancel him, Schlapp said, but as Trump has said, they want to cancel all of us.

The three-day event will feature a wide range of conservative figures in addition to Trump, including Dr. Ben Carson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Sen. Marsha Blackburn , and many other GOP members of Congress such as Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina and Lauren Boebert of Colorado.

The theme of the conference is America UnCancelled.

Trumps CPAC speech repeats false election fraud claims, teases 2024 ...
  • Katrina Schollenberger, SEO Reporter

There was something very strange about Donald Trumps speech at CPAC on Sunday, his first public outing since departing the White House on the morning of January 20, just hours before Joe Biden was inaugurated: It was boring.

The former president is never comfortable speaking from a teleprompter, often reacting like this is the first time he has seen the words he is speaking. But Sundays performance at the Conservative Political Action Conference seemed even more stilted than usualTrumps red-meat lines delivered without the usual ferocity, his lies feeling both familiar and tired, his tried-and-true applause lines only occasionally rousing the crowd to its feet. He seemed to want nothing more than to be back on the golf course, where he had reportedly been earlier that day, making him more than a hour late for his scheduled keynote speech at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.

Yes, Trump did tease the audience with a predictable reference to running again in 2024Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for the third time, he said, repeating his false claim that he won in 2020but then he returned again to the dutiful, wooden delivery of his prepared remarks.

Donald Trump To Address Cpac

The CPAC meeting will take place in Orlando, Florida from 25 to 28 February, with Trump speaking on February 28. This event would be Trumps first public, on-camera appearance since he left office last month. Trump has been a CPAC regular appearing there in 2011 for the first time, years before he became a presidential candidate.

The spokesman for the American Conservative Union, Ian Walters confirmed that Trump will deliver a keynote speech at the groups annual Conservative Political Action Conference on Feb. 28.

Hell talk about the future of the Republican party and the conservative movement, the source reportedly said. Also look for the 45th president to take on President Bidens disastrous amnesty and border policies.

The Virginia governors race will offer a glimpse into the likely political dynamics of the 2022 midterms.

Neither Hawley nor Rubio mentioned Trump in their speeches and mostly avoided talking about the 2020 election. They also did not praise Putin, who has been condemned by Western leaders for attacking Ukraine.

Rubio focused his fire on the risk posed by a Democratic-run government while praising the bravery of Ukrainians resisting Russias attack.

The people of Ukraine are inspiring to the world, Rubio said.

Hawley briefly defended his decision to object to the certification of the 2020 election before lacing into Biden over a laundry list of what he described as major policy failures, including the chaotic pullout from Afghanistan and the administrations handling of immigration.

Trump Didnt End Russian Pipeline

Trump delivers keynote speech at CPAC, in 180 seconds

In talking about his ability to get along with the leaders of Russia, China and North Korea, Trump falsely claimed that he ended Nord Stream 2 the Russian pipeline that would double the export of Russian natural gas to Germany. He also misleadingly said Biden approved it.

Trump: Its a good thing to get along with people not a bad thing. You can be very tough and get along. You know, Im the one that ended pipeline. He said, Youre killing me with the pipeline. Nobody else ended his pipeline. Biden came in, he approved it.

Nord Stream 2 is a completed, but not yet operational, pipeline under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. It runs parallel with Nord Stream 1, which has been operational since 2011, according to a by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.

Nord Stream 2 must receive certification from German regulators before it becomes operational, the CRS report said. But German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stopped the certification process on Feb. 22 the day that Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized two separatist territories in eastern Ukraine as independent states and sent Russian troops into the Donbas region of Ukraine.

Congress and successive administrations have opposed Nord Stream 2, and, as a result, there have been interruptions in construction of the pipeline, CRS said in a .

Despite the U.S. sanctions, pipeline construction resumed again in December 2020, while Trump was still in office.

Guess whos back?

The Conservative Political Action Conference opened on Thursday, 24 February in Orlando, Florida, with Donald Trump once again its headline speaker as he seeks to re-establish his grasp over the Republican Party ahead of a long-rumoured presidential run in 2024.

His audience can expect plenty of plugs for the former presidents new Truth Social app, gripes about his ongoing legal troubles and more conspiracy theorising about his defeat at the ballot box in 2020 and he may even hug the flag again.

A four-day gathering of right-wing activists from across the US, CPAC was founded in 1974 by the American Conservative Union and Young Americans for Freedom and its inaugural address was given by Ronald Reagan, then California governor and a presidential candidate two years later, who used the platform to lay out his vision for the country.

Liz Cheney And Adam Kinzinger Headline Rival Summit

However, the event has also caused a split among Republican circles and a rival event is being held by GOP Trump-critics in Washington D.C. over the same weekend.

The Principles First group is hosting a two-day summit which has been labeled as “counterprogramming” to the CPAC. The summit is being held at the National Press Club on February 26 and February 27.

The event is set to focus on “conservatism’s meaning and the path to a more principled future for our country” and will feature a number of speeches, panels and networking events.

Headlining the break-off summit are Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who were recently censored by the GOP.

Also appearing at the event are Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, former Republican Reps. Denver Riggleman and Joe Walsh, retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, Olivia Troye, and U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn.

Organizers are expecting around 300 people to attend the summit.

Trump Thinking About A 2024 Comeback

Donald Trump will play a major part in the 2022 midterm elections and has privately told people recently that he is planning a 2024 comeback bid.

Trump has refused to admit losing the presidency to Biden who defeated him by 306-232 in the electoral college and 7m ballots in the popular vote. He also suffered a second impeachment for stirring up the deadly revolt at the US Capitol on January 6.

In recent weeks, Trump has expressed anger at top Republicans who opposed him, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Sen. John Thune, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate and GOP political operative Karl Rove, according to people aware of the issue. The CPAC lineup includes many potential presidential candidates, such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. However, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and former Vice-President Mike Pence are not on the CPAC speaker list.

ORLANDO, Fla. Mike Pompeo was swarmed by a throng of reporters and fans as he made his way down the hallway of the luxury resort hosting this years annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

The former secretary of state had just received a standing ovation. As he headed toward an interview with Fox Nation, a slightly aggrieved CPAC attendee yelled out at the commotion, Hes not even president yet!

It was a familiar sentiment at the annual gathering of thousands of conservatives here in central Florida. As excited as the crowds were about GOP headliners like Pompeo, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley , the enthusiasm was qualified all bets are off if Donald Trump decides to run again.

Back in Washington, the GOP might be at odds about whether or not the partys future should prominently feature the ex-president. And within Trump world, theres been some angst about his current standing. There were fears he might not play as well with the CPAC crowd after being out of office, especially at a conference held in the backyard of another 2024 frontrunner: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. But among the activists at CPAC, it turns out, diehard conservatives remain more excited about the prospect of a Trump reelection than anything else.

President Donald Trump’s Full Speech At CPAC | The New York Times

OPINION:

Donald Trump is back.

Andhe was on FIRE on Sunday night in Dallas.

If you missed it, check it out on C-SPAN archives. You wont find it on any of the big tech companies platforms. They have already ghosted it.

That is how good President Trumps speech was.

Like frogs boiling in water, America has been lulled into accepting incomprehensible gibberish from a doddering old coot shuffling behind a podium bearing the White House seal. The new normal is a fossilized old swamp gargoyle fumbling through notes to answer a simple question about Russia from a soda jerk in an ice cream parlor.

American leadership has been defanged and replaced by a set of loose dentures incapable of commanding a cone of soft-serve ice cream a president whose Secret Service code name is Silver Alert.

But the Devil in Dallas is back! And in full form reminding us all what a live wire in the White House was really like.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Mr. Trump was viciously funny, scathingly honest and electrically entertaining.

Like socialist and communist movements throughout history, todays leftists do not believe in freedom, he said.

They do not believe in democracy. They believe in Marxist morality anything is justified as long as it hurts their political opponents and advances the radical agenda of their party.

Mr. Trump was as vicious as he was personal.

The maestro of improvisation also was back.
