Restrict Voting To One Day Using Paper Ballots
Trumps grievances over losing the 2020 election and baseless conspiracy theories about voter fraud have inspired Republican state lawmakers across the country to propose and adopt new voting restrictions. Trump has called for measures such as universal voter ID since disbanding in 2018 the commission he established to back up his false claim of millions of fraudulent votes costing him the 2016 popular vote.
Trump has recently added a demand for same-day voting using paper ballots. That should be our goal, he said at CPAC. The proposal echoes his false claims blaming mail ballots and electronic voting machines for his loss in 2020.
As president, Trump could not change the rules on his own. He could pressure Republican-led state legislatures to pass more restrictions, or he could push for action in Congress. Congress has the power to regulate elections under the Constitution, with past examples including the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
Requiring everyone to vote on one day would upend elections across the country. Forty-six states and D.C. allow early in-person voting, and 35 and D.C. permit voting by mail without an excuse, including eight that automatically send mail ballots to voters, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Is it possible that former President Donald Trump could be re-elected after being impeached twice?
Frankly, Yes. It is quite possible.
Being impeached even when it happens a historic second time is not the same as being convicted, removed from office and barred from ever running for office again.
Impeachment is the equivalent of an indictment, not a guilty verdict. The decision to convict Trump of insurrection for triggering the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol will be made by a trial verdict of the Senate. And, if there is a conviction, the decision about holding future office will be made by the Senate in a separate, later vote.
It would really take a conviction to keep him from running for federal office again, said Brian Browne, assistant vice president of government relations and an adjunct professor of political science at St. Johns University. In the absence of a conviction, he can still technically run for federal office again.
On Tuesday, the Senate voted largely along party lines, 56 to 44,to proceed with the second impeachment trial of Trump, declaring that such a trial is indeed constitutional, despite the fact that Trump is now a private citizen. Opening arguments began on Wednesday.

Says Hall, A majority of young people, like we saw in 2020, would reject a President Trump candidacy. This rejection comes from an understanding that the issues that we care about, Trump is not a fan of, whether it’s the environment, voting rights and the keen look at the racial discrimination within voting rights, the economy, and making sure that were raising taxes on the wealthy corporations.
According to a recent Alliance for Youth Organizing poll of voters age 17-39, the most commonly favored issue they would like elected officials to work on is increasing taxes on corporations and the wealthy. Thats something where young people, I think, are all aligned upon,” Hall says, “whether youre a Democrat, Republican, or Independent that those in Washington, DC, only care about wealthy people.

President Trumps Views On Gambling
Trump had very public financial ties to the late Sheldon Adelson, a Las Vegas casino mogul who was known to contribute to the Republican party and anti-gambling lawmakers. In fact, Trump and his family had met with Adelsons family in Las Vegas multiple times for dinner.
While Adelson was known to push an anti-gambling expansion agenda to prevent any cannibalization in his market of land-based venues, Trump has a history of favoring casinos, as he was a former casino owner and he is friends with many other owners in the industry.
However, Trump was tough on any gamblers working in his cabinet, as his personal assistant John McEntee was denied permanent security clearance from the White House due to problems related to online gambling and the mishandling of his taxes, said one Senior Administrator. Overall, we view Trump to be in favor of expanded gambling, at least more so than the GOP generally is.

Can Trump possibly convince voters that he can beat the current president, given that he lost to him before in a record-high turnout election? Even Conant said it was “unlikely” Trump could win again.
“He has to find people who don’t yet like him to vote for him, but everyone has made up their mind on Donald Trump,” said Conant, who’s now founding partner at the public affairs firm Firehouse Strategies.
Some GOP insiders said Trump would be able to attack Biden’s record if the current president’s poll numbers continued to crater. But Mike DuHaime, CEO of MAD Global Strategy Group who advised former Gov. Chris Christie’s 2016 presidential campaign, said even that would prove a challenge.
“Biden is seen as personally likable,” DuHaime said. “That goes a long way when it comes to voting.”
Plus, when a candidate challenges an incumbent, he or she needs to be able to make the election a referendum on the current president, he said.
“Biden is very beatable, but Trump would have a harder time than anyone else because then the race becomes about Trump,” DuHaime said. “You want the race to be about the incumbent, especially if they are unpopular.”
This all presumes that Biden will seek a second term. The president, who is 79 years old and would be 82 on Inauguration Day 2025, has indicated he will run again and that Harris will again be his running mate. But more than a year may pass before Biden formally decides and files for re-election.
