In March 2017, Trump wrote several posts on claiming former president Barack Obama had wiretapped phones in the tower toward the end of the 2016 campaign. An Obama spokesperson refuted the claims and, during a subsequent meeting with the House of Representatives‘ Intelligence Committee that discussed the issue, FBI Director James Comey informed the committee that there was no evidence of wiretapping in the tower.

Trump also claimed to own the painting Two Sisters , an 1881 work by French Impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The original work hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago. In October 2017, Timothy L. O’Brien said that during his interviews with Trump for the book TrumpNation: The Art of Being The Donald, he asked Trump about the copy of Two Sisters, which was then on Trump’s plane. Trump repeatedly said his copy was the genuine work, despite O’Brien’s statements to the contrary. By then, the Renoir copy was hanging in Trump’s penthouse office. The Art Institute of Chicago released a statement refuting Trump’s claim that his Renoir copy was the genuine one.

On August 9, 2016, a man posted a viral video on , claiming to be an independent researcher who wanted to speak to Donald Trump. The next day, a man climbed from the 5th to the 21st floors using industrial suction cups for aid climbing, though he was arrested after nearly three hours.

Doormen stand ready to greet you when you arrive, which is only fitting because this is the Trump family home when theyre in New York. Dont be surprised to catch a glimpse of first lady Melania and her son Barron, who are frequently in residence.

After the inauguration of Joe Biden on Jan. 13, some QAnon supporters turned in the towel and admitted to falling prey to the elusive and dangerous conspiracy theories. Others, however, continue to stoke the power of Q and bend the theories to their will, most recently involving the day of March 4, 2021. And perhaps not so coincidentally, room prices at Trump International Hotel in D.C. are $1,000 more than their standard prices for the date.

As the most recent Q fable goes, QAnon followers are convinced that in 1871, the United States was secretly turned into a corporation, and Ulysses S. Grant was the last legitimate president, who was inaugurated on March 4 of that year. Being that Grant was the 18th president, theyre deducing that Trump will therefore be the 19th.

Forbes first reported that room rates for March 4 surged to $1,745 for a standard room with two queen-sized beds at the shortly after Jan. 6. On the eve of the big date, the room prices listed are still well above $1,000. And the weekend after March 4, however, prices are back down to $745, 180% above the typical rate of a D.C. hotel rate in February or March. Its typical for hotels to bump up their prices for holiday weekends, major sporting games, or, apparently, other events like an insurrection of the U.S. Capitol.

What To See And Do Inside

Trump Tower is a 58-story skyscraper with a mix of apartments, offices, and retail stores. .

The first 5 floors are an open atrium with a few shops and eateries.

The remaining floors are divided between 26 floors of office space and 39 floors for condominiums.

The atrium and a small roof garden of the 5th level are the only parts open to the public so you won’t need more than an hour to check it all out.

Even with the security checks, you won’t need too much time, unless you plan on a full meal at the Trump Grille.

In that case, give yourself time to as you would dining out at any other restaurant.

First things first, pass through the security checkpoints which don’t take as long as one might expect.

Remember, the Secret Service is not there to smile for the camera – they have a job to do! But you can probably get a picture near one of them.

Once inside the atrium, gaze at the 7-story indoor waterfall and pose for photos.

Trump gave many campaign interviews in front of this waterfall so you can say you were showered with history during your visit.

Be sure to ride the escalator – the same one Trump used when he announced his candidacy.

If you ride up to the 5th Floor you will find a roof garden with a few tables and chairs. It is open after 11 am.

Grab a coffee at the Starbucks on the 2nd level and enjoy some fresh Midtown Manhattan air.

Do some window-shopping at the Trump Store where you can pick up a tie or cufflinks from the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection.

The hotels website says a two-night minimum is required for guests visiting around Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. Rates are now $2,225 a night for Jan. 19 and 20, compared with closer to $400 for other days in January.

Other hotels in the area, such as the Hay-Adams hotel and The St. Regis have also raised the rates for their rooms during the inauguration as well. Prices for rooms reached $1,399 and $999 per night respectively.

The rate increases were previously reported by Politico.

The Trump Organization attempted to sell its lease on the D.C. property earlier this year but eventually put the sale on hold.
