Buccaneers vs. Patriots Week 4 Highlights | NFL 2021

Tyler Sullivan writes: “Welcome back, Tom Brady! This is the game that we’ve all been waiting for since the official schedule has been released. For the first time as a visitor, Brady will be taking his Buccaneers into Gillette Stadium to face the team he called his own for two decades and helped win six Super Bowl titles. Tampa Bay comes into this matchup as the defending Super Bowl champions and boasts a loaded roster of essentially the same cast that hoisted a Lombardi a season ago. If there was ever a regular-season game where Brady was super laser-focused, it’s this one. I don’t expect this game to be particularly close.”

Buccaneers Offensive Line Vs Patriots Front Seven

The Rams exposed Tampas talented offensive line a bit in Week 3, with 6 tackles for loss and 5 quarterback hits. The Buccaneers also couldnt run the ball an area of season-long concern for Arians. Their 3.5 yards per carry is 26th. Pass blocking is the strength of a group led by its left side .

Tampa Bay will have its hands full with a Patriots defense featuring Matt Judon, who has been a wrecking ball in his first three games as a Patriot. He has 6 quarterback hits, 4 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks in three games.

Judon, Josh Uche , Kyle Van Noy, and Donta Hightower might make up the best group of linebackers in football. Furthermore, Deatrich Wise is a roadblock up front.

The Verdict Of The Tom Brady Stats

Week 17 Update: The win over the Falcons secured Tom Brady and the Buccaneers the fifth spot in the conference and a matchup against Washington Football Club. The Buccaneers are favored to win the Wild Card matchup, with a heavy focus on Tom Brady stats as the key factor for the Buccaneers. The second half resurgence has been strong for Tampa Baysomething Tom Brady knows all too welland, headed into the playoffs, its the quarterbacks time to shine.

He also brought his touchdown tally up to 581, while second place Drew Brees has 571. Even if Brees chooses not to retire, he has a lot of ground to make up to catch Tom Brady.

Week 16 Update: The huge win over Detroit saw Brady send touchdown passes to four different receivers: Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski. They also added a rushing touchdown from Leonard Fournette, who has stepped up in an increased role since the Ronald Jones injury. The all around offense made it easy for Brady to do his job, and even though he only played for half the game, he climbed up to the fourth-highest passing yards on the season, fourth-most touchdowns on the season, and a shot at yet another Super Bowl victory.

The quarterback now has 32 touchdowns on the season, the fourth-most in the NFL. He is now a single touchdown away from Jameis Winstons single-season touchdown record, which he will most likely surpass by the seasons end.

The 2020 season was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ 45th in the National Football League and their second under head coachBruce Arians. The club improved on their 79 record from the previous season by finishing 115 to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2007. They advanced through the playoffs to reach and win Super Bowl LV. They were the first team only having one Pro Bowler to do so since the 2007 Giants, and the first team to play in and win the Super Bowl in their home stadium, Raymond James Stadium. They were the 7th wild card team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl, as well as the fifth team to win three road games to advance to the Super Bowl, joining the 2010 Green Bay Packers, 2007 New York Giants, 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers, and 1985 New England Patriots.

The team unveiled new uniforms in April 2020, their first uniform change since 2014. The uniforms are similar in design to the ones they wore from 1997 to 2013.

Bowing To The Defending Super Bowl Champion

In a widely publicized established versus new blood quarterback matchup, Brady and the Buccaneers fell by three after rallying from a 17-0 deficit in the second half against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. Brady threw for 345 yards, completed three touchdowns and tossed two interceptions. He completed 27 of his attempted 41 passes.

It seemed, though, that Tom Brady fared better when running plays that were designed by the New England Patriots. The Bruce Arians plays seem to give the entire Buccaneers squad some trouble, so look for Brady to brush up on those during the bye week to come out even stronger in Week 14.

It wasnt a bad game for Brady. Really, it was just a harder fought game by the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Mac Jones Vs Buccaneers Defense

Are teams figuring out the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft? His completion percentage, passer rating, and yards per attempt have all decreased in each of the past two weeks.

Jones isnt making terrible decisions his bad throw rate and on-target rate are both fine, and his average release time isnt terrible either. But he hasnt had much success throwing downfield. Jones average completed air yards is in the bottom 10 of the league, and he has the third-lowest average air yards differential. Those stats are courtesy of Next Gen Stats.

This might be the week Jones figures it out. Hes playing at home against the NFLs 32nd-ranked pass defense and the NFLs 32nd pass rush . The Bucs are atrocious on third down, allowing conversions on 53.2% of the time .

Tom Brady Stats As A Buccaneer In 2020

Buccaneer Brady has a better defense and more skilled receivers. His No. 1 receiver clearly became Mike Evans going into Week 8. Of course, the addition of Antonio Brown will likely change that. The one-game Patriot is seeing an increasing number of targets, further stretching out opponents defense.

Even without AB, Bradys stats have picked back up. His bad throw rate dropped below 2018 numbers and sits at 18.1%. Going into Week 8, his on-target rate was 75.7%. Bradys intended air yards per attempt raised well above 2018 and 2019 at 8.5. He had the third-highest deep rate in the league going into Week 8, as his percentage jumped to 14.6%. It gave Brady the sixth-best passer rating on deep tosses in the NFL with 116.1.

To date, he has completed 401 of 610 pass attempts, giving him a 65.74% completion rate.

The Buccaneers were 6-point favorites at New England in Week 4. Chuck Esposito, sportsbook director for Station Casinos, said the Patriots are a different team now, though.

“They have the same ingredients as the successful Belichick teams in the past,” Esposito told ESPN. “A QB that isn’t making mistakes and manages the game, an extremely successful running game and a defense that has given up the second-fewest points in the league. And you can’t forget the Hoodie . He’s at the top of his game, and I think he has a little motivation to win without No. 12 .

“The Bucs are the better team on paper,” Esposito added. “But if they meet in February, who knows?”

Brady led the Bucs to a 19-17 victory over his former team in Week 4, leading a drive that resulted in the game-winning field goal with just under two minutes remaining. Mac Jones put New England in range for a 56-yard field goal attempt to retake the lead with less than a minute left but Nick Folk‘s kick hit the left upright.

FPI, which considers the Buccaneers the best team in football going forward, would give Tampa Bay a 58% chance to win the game should it occur.

As for the Brady vs. Belichick headlines? Those wouldn’t be just for the drama: It would be the key matchup of the game. The Buccaneers have the best offense in football, per FPI, while the Patriots boast the best defense in the league.

Players To Watch: Patriots Vs Buccaneers

Patriots.com’s Mike Dussault shares his players to watch ahead of the Patriots Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Copied!

Mac Jones, QB: As Jones enters the fourth game of his career, he’s completing 67.5 percent of his passes and has thrown two touchdowns to three interceptions. He took 11 hits against the Saints as the Patriots pass protection must be much be better against a Bucs defensive front that can dominate, even without some of their key pieces. Jones’ progression continues to be one of the main storylines of the season as he gets ready to face off against Tom Brady.

Jonnu Smith, TE: It was a game to forget for Smith against the Saints but that doesn’t change Smith’s solid training camp and future in New England. He said all the right things this week about putting the disappointing performance behind him, but now he must do it against Tampa Bay’s defense, one that has shown some vulnerabilities against the pass. Expect Smith to get on track sooner than later and demonstrate the kind of playmaking skill he’s capable of.

Jakobi Meyers, WR: Meyers leads the team with 19 catches through three games, as he’s been the model of consistency since taking over a full-time offensive role in 2020 after Julian Edelman went down. He should continue to draw more and more attention from defenses, especially on third down, where he’s been Mac Jones’ favorite target.

Betting Line And Game Prediction

New England Patriots news 3/12/20

William Hill had the Buccaneers favored by 7 points late in the week. While that seems a bit fat for a game at Gillette featuring an excellent Patriots defense, we do wonder how New England will be able to generate enough offense to pull off the upset. The Buccaneers gain, on average, 1.5 more yards per play than the Patriots. But the Patriots surrender on average 1.1 fewer yards than the Buccaneers. We lean Tampa Bay here but think itll be a closer game than most.

Prediction: Buccaneers 24, Patriots 20

Tom Brady Stats In Week 1: Headed To The Post

Another game, another chance for Tom Brady to break some records. The monster 47-7 victory over the Detroit Lions gave Brady a chance to put his name in the history books a few more times. He has officially played 300 regular season games , surpassed Jameis Winstons single-season touchdown record with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and is now on track to play the most games as a non-kicker in NFL history, assuming he plays next season, which seems incredibly likely.

He now has 573 touchdown passes, the most in NFL history, and led his team to their first post-season since 2007. Adding to that, he now has as many perfect games as any quarterback in NFL history. Even though he only played in the first half on Saturday, he put up an impressive performance that would be great for any full-game effort: He had 22 completions in 27 attempts for 348 yards, totalling four touchdowns. He also didnt throw a single interception.

In fact, his final two quarters in Week 15 and his Week 16 appearance were kind of a huge deal: he put up 668 passing yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. Elias Sports tweeted that Brady is the only quarterback in the last 40 years to throw over 600 yards in a four quarter span.

Tom Brady is definitely making his mark on the history books, adding even more impressive statistics to his unparalleled career. Oh, and hes going to the playoffs again, giving him a chance to grab his seventh Super Bowl ring.
