Is Joe Biden A Democrat Or Republican

Don't Miss

Presidency Of Barack Obama

Democratic and Republican representatives debate President Joe Biden’s stimulus bill

On January 20, 2009, Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States in a ceremony attended by nearly 2 million people, the largest congregation of spectators ever to witness the inauguration of a new president. That same day in Washington, D.C., Republican House of Representative leaders met in an “invitation only” meeting for four hours to discuss the future of the Republican Party under the Obama administration.

One of the first acts by the Obama administration after assuming control was an order signed by Chief of StaffRahm Emanuel that suspended all pending federal regulations proposed by outgoing President George W. Bush so that they could be reviewed. This was comparable to prior moves by the Bush administration upon assuming control from Bill Clinton, who in his final 20 days in office issued 12 executive orders. In his first week, Obama also established a policy of producing a weekly Saturday morning video address available on Whitehouse.gov and YouTube, much like those released during his transition period. The policy is likened to Franklin Delano Roosevelt‘s fireside chats and George W. Bush’s weekly radio addresses.

Presidency Of Jimmy Carter

Carter was a peanut farmer, a state senator and a one-term governor with minimal national experience. President Carter’s major accomplishments consisted of the creation of a national energy policy and two new cabinet departments, the United States Department of Energy and the United States Department of Education. Carter also successfully deregulated the trucking, airline, rail, finance, communications and oil industries , bolstered the social security system and appointed record numbers of women and minorities to significant posts. He also enacted strong legislation on environmental protection through the expansion of the National Park Service in Alaska, creating 103 million acres of park land.

In foreign affairs, Carter’s accomplishments consisted of the Camp David Accords, the Panama Canal Treaties, the establishment of full diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China and the negotiation of the SALT II Treaty. In addition, he championed human rights throughout the world and used human rights as the center of his administration’s foreign policy.

Whos Running For President In 2020

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is the presumptive Democratic nominee to challenge President Trump in the 2020 race.

The field of Democratic presidential candidates was historically large, but all others have dropped out. Mr. Trump had also picked up a few Republican challengers, but they have also ended their campaigns.

Running

Has run for president twice before.

Is known for his down-to-earth personality and his ability to connect with working-class voters.

His eight years as Barack Obamas vice president are a major selling point for many Democrats.

Signature issues: Restoring Americas standing on the global stage adding a public option to the Affordable Care Act strengthening economic protections for low-income workers in industries like manufacturing and fast food.

Main legislative accomplishment as president: a sweeping tax cut that chiefly benefited corporations and wealthy investors.

Has focused on undoing the policies of the Obama administration, including on health care, environmental regulation and immigration.

Was impeached by the House of Representatives for seeking to pressure Ukraine to smear his political rivals, but was acquitted by the Senate.

Signature issues: Restricting immigration and building a wall at the Mexican border renegotiating or canceling international deals on trade, arms control and climate change withdrawing American troops from overseas.

Ended her campaign in March 2020 and said she would back Mr. Biden.

Role In The 2016 Presidential Campaign

During his second term, Biden was often said to be preparing for a possible bid for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. With his family, many friends, and donors encouraging him in mid-2015 to enter the race, and with Hillary Clinton‘s favorability ratings in decline at that time, Biden was reported to again be seriously considering the prospect and a “Draft Biden 2016″ PAC was established.

As of September 11,2015, Biden was still uncertain about running. He felt his son’s recent death had largely drained his emotional energy, and said, “nobody has a right … to seek that office unless they’re willing to give it 110% of who they are.” On October 21, speaking from a podium in the Rose Garden with his wife and Obama by his side, Biden announced his decision not to run for president in 2016. In January 2016, Biden affirmed that it was the right decision, but admitted to regretting not running for president “every day”.

After Obama endorsed Hillary Clinton on June 9, 2016, Biden endorsed her later that day. Throughout the 2016 election, Biden strongly criticized Clinton’s opponent, Donald Trump, in often colorful terms.

Too Few Are Telling The Truth

The But I Would Vote for Joe Biden Republicans

Not long ago, conservative media was not beholden to anyone. Today, most sites are stuck on the Big Tech gravy train.

Ill keep this short. The rise of Pandemic Panic Theater, massive voter fraud, and other taboo topics have neutered a majority of conservative news sites. Youll notice they are very careful about what topics they tackle. Sure, theyll attack Critical Race Theory, Antifa, and the Biden-Harris regime, but you wont see them going after George Soros, Bill Gates, the World Economic Forum, or the Deep State, among others.

The reason is simple. They are beholden to Big Tech, and Big Tech doesnt allow certain topics to be discussed or theyll cut you off. Far too many conservative news outlets rely on Google, Facebook, and Twitter for the bulk of their traffic. They depend on big checks from Google ads to keep the sites running. I dont necessarily hold it against them. We all do what we need to do to survive. I just wish more would do like we have, which is to cut out Big Tech altogether.

We dont get Google checks. We dont have Facebook or Twitter buttons on our stories. We dont have a YouTube Channel , and Instagram profile , or a TikTok . Were not perfect, but were doing everything we can to not owe anything to anyone other than our readers. We owe YOU the truth. We owe YOU the facts that others wont reveal about topics that others wont tackle. And we owe America, this great land that allows us to take hold of these opportunities.

Freedom Rider: Democrats Are Officially Republicans

The Democrats claim to be the opposition party, but they seek out Republicans, hate the left of their own party, and dont seem to care if they lose the election.

The Democratic Party has ended any debate or dispute about its true nature. It is a party representing neoliberal interests and international gangsterism, just like their putative opposition, the Republican party.

The Democratic Party has ended any debate or dispute about its true nature. It is a party representing neoliberal interests and international gangsterism

Even a cursory observation of the recent Democratic National Convention proves that this assessment is correct. There were paeans of love to the late warmonger John McCain and even an appearance from his widow. A special segment was set aside for Republicans like John Kasich whose speech was used in part to beat down progressives and make clear that Joe Biden wants nothing to do with them. Not to be outdone with Kasich and McCains ghost, war criminal Colin Powell was dragged out to put the bipartisan imperialist seal of approval on Biden.

The dust had hardly cleared when Rahm Emanuel , a former congressman, Barack Obamas chief of staff, and mayor of Chicago explained what was obvious to even the casual observer. The Democrats are repeating their failed 2016 strategy of wooing republicans. This is the year of the Biden Republican, said Emanuel.

The Second Presidency Of Grover Cleveland

The Bourbons were in power when the Panic of 1893 hit and they took the blame. The party polarized between the pro-gold pro-business Cleveland faction and the anti-business silverites in the West and South. A fierce struggle inside the party ensued, with catastrophic losses for both the Bourbon and agrarian factions in 1894, leading to the showdown in 1896. Just before the 1894 election, President Cleveland was warned by an advisor:

We are on the eve of very dark night, unless a return of commercial prosperity relieves popular discontent with what they believe Democratic incompetence to make laws, and consequently with Democratic Administrations anywhere and everywhere.

Aided by the deep nationwide economic depression that lasted from 1893 to 1897, the Republicans won their biggest landslide ever, taking full control of the House. The Democrats were lost nearly all their seats in the Northeast. The third party Populists also were ruined. However, Cleveland’s silverite enemies gained control of the Democratic Party in state after state, including full control in Illinois and Michigan and made major gains in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and other states. Wisconsin and Massachusetts were two of the few states that remained under the control of Cleveland’s allies.

How Republicans Came To Revel Hating Joe Biden

Clarence ThomasCourt documents reveal Pence team’s exasperation with TrumpLIVE COVERAGE: Biden delivers State of the UnionSenate gears up for confirmation of first Black woman to Supreme CourtMORE‘s confirmation to the Supreme Court. An earlier version of this story included a quotation with incorrect information.

Republicans are reveling in their hatred of Joe Biden. And GOP politicians have helped them get there.

At the beginning of Bidens White House term, Republicans openly fretted about their inability to define the president as he enjoyed an extended honeymoon and the nation seemed to move out of the coronavirus pandemic.

Asked in April how his party was doing at going after Biden, Sen. Mike BraunMichael BraunSenate GOP shrugs off latest Trump revelationOn The Money Fed puts strict limits on trades by top officials Biden signs bill to extend funding, avoid government shutdownMORE replied: Poorly.

I dont think weve done a very good job because hes getting away with defining himself and rolling out this stuff that were borrowing every penny for it, and the public is buying it, Braun said, before referencing the popular coronavirus relief package from last year.

Weve got to find ways to articulate and scuffle in a better way, and I dont know that weve found that.

Flash forward less than a year later, and times have changed dramatically.

Bidens numbers are not just down because of events, however.

Barely Mentioned Topics Included Some Of The Biggest On Democrats Agenda

January 20, 2022: Democrats’ voting rights bill, Biden, Republicans, Trump Capitol records, Tonga

There were few subjects that did not get a mention in Mr. Bidens speech. But some of the Democratic Partys biggest agenda items like climate change, immigration, gun control and abortion rights received only cursory treatment.

On climate change, which is perhaps one of the partys most unifying subjects, he stayed away from calling for far-reaching action. Instead, he focused mostly on limited actions that he urged lawmakers to take by passing parts of his social spending legislation.

Lets provide investments and tax credits to weatherize your homes and businesses to be energy efficient and you get a tax credit double Americas clean energy production in solar, wind, and so much more, he said.

Mr. Biden urged lawmakers to pass an overhaul of the immigration system, but he also gave a nod to the need for border security, a message that is likely to draw criticism from immigration activists who already blame him for maintaining some Trump-era immigration restrictions.

With the Supreme Court weighing whether to overturn Roe v. Wade, Mr. Biden briefly called for preserving a womans right to choose. And he called for passage of the Equality Act, which would protect transgender Americans from discrimination.

Joe Biden Is All Out Of Ideas For How To Protect Voting Rights

Republicans spent 2021 waging an all-out assault on American democracy, passing a wave of new voting restrictions and incessantly spreading conspiracy theories that have undermined faith in the countrys elections. On Tuesday night, President Joe Biden devoted less than a minute of his State of the Union address to detail Democratic plans to counter the GOP offensive.

The sole mention of Republican efforts to restrict voting rights came more than halfway into his 65-minute address, and Biden offered nothing more than another meager call for the Senate to pass legislation that it already effectively killed in January.

The most fundamental right in America is the right to vote and to have it counted. And its under assault, Biden said. In state after state, new laws have been passed, not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert entire elections. We cannot let this happen.

Tonight, he continued, I call on the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act. Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. And while youre at it, pass the Disclose Act so Americans can know who is funding our elections.

As on other issues, including abortion, Bidens nod toward voting rights felt almost obligatory, resigned and meant to stave off criticism from progressive activists, civil rights leaders and Democratic state legislators many of whom spent the last year demanding moreurgencyfrom the White House that he avoided the topic entirely.

Busing And Affirmative Action

In the mid-1970s, Biden was one of the Senate’s leading opponents of race-integration busing. His Delaware constituents strongly opposed it, and such opposition nationwide later led his party to mostly abandon school integration policies.

In his first Senate campaign, Biden expressed support for busing to remedy de juresegregation, as in the South, but opposed its use to remedy de facto segregation arising from racial patterns of neighborhood residency, as in Delaware he opposed a proposed constitutional amendment banning busing entirely. In May 1974, Biden voted to table a proposal containing anti-busing and anti-desegregation clauses but later voted for a modified version containing a qualification that it was not intended to weaken the judiciary’s power to enforce the 5th Amendment and 14th Amendment.

Biden supported a measure forbidding the use of federal funds for transporting students beyond the school closest to them. In 1977, he co-sponsored an amendment closing loopholes in that measure, which President Jimmy Carter signed into law in 1978.

Effects Of The 2020 Census

The election has been the early subject of attention by analysts and commentators, as it will be the first U.S. presidential election to occur after the reapportionment of votes in the United States Electoral College, which will follow the 2020 United States census. This realignment of electoral college votes will remain consistent through the 2028 election. Reapportionment will be conducted again after the 2030 United States Census.

The House of Representatives will have redistributed the seats among the 50 states based on the results of the 2020 census, and the states will conduct a redistricting cycle in 2021 and 2022, where Congressional and state legislative districts will be redrawn. In most states, the governor and the state legislature conduct the redistricting . The party that wins a presidential election often experiences a coattail effect, which helps other candidates of that party win elections. In 2020, although its nominee Joe Biden won the presidential election, the Democratic Party did not flip any state legislature chambers and in fact lost both New Hampshire legislative chambers and the Montana governorship. This will allow the Republican Party to have redistricting control of seats in New Hampshire, potentially leading to gerrymandering that will stay in effect until the 2030 census, similar to the REDMAP project after the 2010 Census.

Presidency Of Lyndon B Johnson

Then-vice president Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as the new president. Johnson, heir to the New Deal ideals, broke the conservative coalition in Congress and passed a remarkable number of laws, known as the Great Society. Johnson succeeded in passing major civil rights laws that restarted racial integration in the South. At the same time, Johnson escalated the Vietnam War, leading to an inner conflict inside the Democratic Party that shattered the party in the elections of 1968.

The Democratic Party platform of the 1960s was largely formed by the ideals of President Johnson’s “Great Society” The New Deal coalition began to fracture as more Democratic leaders voiced support for civil rights, upsetting the party’s traditional base of Southern Democrats and Catholics in Northern cities. Segregationist George Wallace capitalized on Catholic unrest in Democratic primaries in 1964 and 1972.

The degree to which the Southern Democrats had abandoned the party became evident in the 1968 presidential election when the electoral votes of every former Confederate state except Texas went to either Republican Richard Nixon or independent Wallace. Humphrey’s electoral votes came mainly from the Northern states, marking a dramatic reversal from the 1948 election 20 years earlier, when the losing Republican electoral votes were concentrated in the same states.
