jjchvl said:I have a 2.4, manual 5 speed Patriot as well and heres what you need to do. 1st, ensure that you’ve replaced the drain plug after draining the old transmission fluid. 2nd, Remove the rubber plugs from the top hole AND the side hole. 3rd, start adding new transmission fluid into the transmission using the TOP hole. 4th, When you see transmission fluid begin to leak from the SIDE hole, stop adding fluid. You are done. Replace the rubber plugs in the top and side holes and that’s it.The side hole is basically your fluid level indicator. Your transmission fluid should always be up to the level of that side hole-no more, no less. You do NOT want to fill up your transmission further than that side hole. I hope that helps. Let me know if you need more information.PS: Make sure to use the correct transmission fluid when you do the change out. I used Royal Purple when I did mine but there are plenty of other quality brands out there.
