How Do I Get Ahold Of Donald Trump

Trump And The Media Had Troubled Relationship

HEADING TO WISCONSIN: President Trump takes questions before boarding Marine One

Trump was frequently parodied, especially by comedy and late-night television programs such as “Saturday Night Live.” In June 2017, comedian Kathy Griffin crossed the line of good taste when she held up what appeared to be a severed head of the president. Although her right to do so was unquestioned under the First Amendment, CNN ended its agreement with her to host its New Years Eve broadcast and several venues canceled her tour dates.

On July 25, 2018, White House officials Bill Shine and Sarah Sanders, barred CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, that days pool reporter for all the networks, from a presidential event in the Rose Garden. Collins had shouted a question and apparently offended Trump as he was meeting with the president of the European Commission. Other members of the press, including Fox News that was usually friendly to Trump, protested the action against the reporter, which some associated with dictatorial regimes.

In January 2020, President Trump praised Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for doing a good job on National Public Radio reporter Mary Louise Kelly after she reported that Pompeo shut down an interview with her. Pompeo had stopped the interview, then shouted and cursed at her, after she had asked about his support for State Department personnel. Pompeo subsequently removed another NPR reporter from a list of reporters allowed on his flight to Eastern Europe, an action that the State Department Correspondents Association condemned.

Fbi And Congressional Intelligence Committee Investigations

FBI investigations began in late July 2016. In May 2017, former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed as a special counsel in an expansion of the FBI’s investigation. The Senate Intelligence Committee and the House Intelligence Committee also conducted inquiries.

The Senate Intelligence Committee described its concerns with secret meetings:

Finally, the Committee’s bipartisan Report shows that almost immediately following Election Day in 2016, the Trump transition responded to Russia’s election interference not by supporting punitive action, but rather by holding a series of secretive meetings and communications with Russian representatives that served to undercut the outgoing administration’s efforts to hold Russia accountable. The transition’s openness to this private Russian outreach prior to taking office, so soon after Russia’s interference on Trump’s behalf, combined with Trump publicly questioning Russia’s involvement, signaled that there was little intention by the incoming administration to punish Russia for the assistance it had just provided in its unprecedented attack on American democracy.”

After 22 months of investigation, Special Counsel Robert Mueller submitted his report to the Justice Department on March 22, 2019. The investigation “did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities”.

Trump Won Evangelical Support By Promising More Freedom

Early in his campaign, Trump was endorsed by Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University. Trump convinced many evangelicals that he would secure their First Amendment free exercise rights and exempt them from government regulations, such as the requirement that health plans provide access to birth-control pills that they consider to be abortifacients. As president, Trump signed an executive order seeking protections for religious freedom .

Donald Trump Running For President In 2024 Defends Violent Mob That Broke Into The Capitol Over His 2020 Loss

As weve frequently noted around these parts, the list of reasons why Donald Trump should never be allowed within 1,000 feet of the White House again is a very long one that continues to grow longer with each passing day. The latest entry? His continued defense of the people who violently attacked the US Capitol following his 2020 loss, which seems to suggest hed encourage such behavior again, should his bid to retake the presidency in 2024 not go according to plan.

TheWashington Postreports that in a video aired at a fundraising event on Thursday night, Trump expressed solidarity with the mob that broke into the government building in an attempt to block Joe Bidens electoral win, saying: People have been treated unconstitutionally, in my opinion, and very, very unfairly, and were going to get to the bottom of it. Its the weaponization of the Department of Justice, and we cant let this happen in our country. The event was hosted by the Patriot Freedom Project, which bills itself as a nonprofit organization providing legal, financial, mental health, and spiritual support for individuals and their familiesincluding young childrenwho are suffering at the hands of a weaponized justice system.

Trump Attacked Establishment News Media

Trump Calls Putin To Discuss Orbs & Israel | CONAN on TBS

It is doubtful that any national candidate since President Nixons vice president, Spiro Agnew, has been more negative toward the established media than Trump.

He frequently called members of the media dishonest and singled them out for ridicule at his rallies. He called the press the enemy of the people and often bypassed the media by refusing to be interviewed. He instead preferred to reach his followers directly through tweets, many of which were outrageous but nonetheless captured public attention and news media coverage.

Trump initially hired a number of people from the alt-right movement, including Steve Bannon of Breitbart News, to be in his inner circle. He and his defenders often accused the media of manufacturing fake news.

Trump has faced criticism for his attacks on the news media. Arizona Senator Jeff Flake gave a speech on the Senate floor on Jan. 17, 2018, in which he said that Trump’s characterization of the press as the enemy of the people echoed the words of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.

Does An Incumbent President Skip The Nominating Process If They Run Again

Incumbent presidents typically don’t get to skip the nominating process when they run for reelection.

Before the general election in a presidential race, candidates often participate in state primaries and caucuses “where, based on the number of votes they receive from the electorate, they are assigned a certain number of delegates who will vote for them at their party’s convention, according to the Library of Congress.

But a state party doesnt always hold the races when an incumbent president is running. For example, Republican parties in several states didnt hold the contests in 2020, choosing instead to automatically support Trump.

California Takes Another Shot At Getting Ahold Of Trumps Tax Returns

The California state Assembly is weighing another bill aimed at obtaining President Donald Trumps tax returns, marking the states second attempt to pass such legislation in the last two years.

The bill, which passed its first major hurdle in the state Senate late last week, would require all presidential candidates to submit five years worth of tax returns in order to appear on the states primary ballot in March 2020.

It joins 18 other states in proposing such legislation.

The bill would apply to all candidates but is clearly aimed at Trump, who has long broken with presidential precedent and refused to release his tax returns. Eight of his Democratic challengers have done so, shedding valuable insight on their sources of income and gifts to charity.

As continues to fight the rule of law by not releasing his tax returns, California has the answer: Senate Bill 27. It would mandate all Presidential candidates release 5 years of returns prior to the March 2020 primary election.

    Mike McGuire May 6, 2019

President Trumps refusal to release his income tax returns has broken a time honored, bi-partisan tradition which has weakened our democracy and his jaw dropping business conflicts have now put the security of our nation at risk, state Sen. Mike McGuire said in a statement when he introduced the bill in March.

New York Judge Holds Former President Trump In Contempt

NY Attorney General is seeking documents from ex-US President Donald Trump as part of probe into his business practices.

A New York state judge has held former United States President Donald Trump in contempt of court for not producing documents subpoenaed in a state probe of his business practices.

Trump lost a bid to quash a subpoena from New York Attorney General Letitia James then failed to produce all the documents by a court-ordered March 3 deadline, later extended to March 31 at his lawyers request.

Justice Arthur Engoron ruled on Monday that a contempt finding was appropriate because of what he called repeated failures to hand over materials and that it was not clear Trump had conducted a complete search for responsive documents.

Mr. Trump I know you take your business seriously, and I take mine seriously. I hereby hold you in civil contempt, the judge said, although Trump himself was not in the New York state courtroom in Manhattan.

The attorney generals office received zero documents from Trump by the end of March, Andrew Amer, special litigation counsel with Jamess office, said on Monday in arguments before Engoron delivered his ruling.

Donald Trump is not beyond the reach of this courts authority, Amer said in support of the contempt motion. Mr Trump had his day in court challenging the subpoena, and he lost.

After the ruling, James called it a major victory and said justice prevailed.

John Bolton Says Trump Is Poisonous And That Mini

Kayleigh McEnany denies claims Trump will declare win prematurely
    • Former Trump-era adviser John Bolton warned this week that âmini-Trumpsâ risk âpolitical suicide.â

    • Bolton referenced how Trump-backed candidates like Dr. Mehmet Oz arenât doing well in their races.

    • âTrumpâs fixation on himself and the 2020 election are poisonous to independent and undecided voters,â Bolton said.

Former Trump administration National Security adviser John Bolton warned this week that candidates who model themselves after the former president might risk âpolitical suicideâ in the midterms.

Bolton was commenting on a poll carried out by his organization, the John Bolton Super PAC. The poll said it surveyed 1,200 likely voters in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, and Georgia from July 22-23.

The Bolton PAC concluded from its poll data that Trump was becoming a âsignificant drag on the general-election prospectsâ of GOP candidates. The PAC cited in particular the Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz and JD Vance both of whom are flagging in their races highlighting how undecided voters surveyed did not favor Trump.

âThese results do not mean Republican candidates should not campaign as true conservatives, only that they stress their loyalty to principles,â Bolton said in a statement.

âWe can still win these races, but the candidates need to separate themselves from Trump,â he added.

âTrumpâs fixation on himself and the 2020 election are poisonous to independent and undecided voters,â Bolton said in his statement.

Election And The Attack On The Capitol Building

The Republicans renominated Trump for president, and Joe Biden, Obamas former vice-president, emerged from a wide field to be the Democratic nominee. Biden selected as his running mate Senator Kamala Harris of California, whose mother was from India and whose father was African- American.

As the election approached, COVID-19, a virus that originated in China, began infecting an increasing number of Americans and taking an increasing number of lives. Trump downplayed the deaths, claiming that the virus would disappear. He refused to wear face masks and did not insist that supporters do so at his campaign rallies even after he was briefly hospitalized with the disease.

Largely as a result of the pandemic, many states liberalized voting so that more people could cast mail-in ballots rather than physically go to a polling place. Trump charged that this would lead to voting fraud.

Many states decided to count mail-in ballots after they finished counting votes cast in person on election day. Trump, who had urged his own supporters to vote in person on election day, was shown with an early lead as vote-counting began. This lead evaporated as more votes were counted. Although the election was held on Tuesday, it was not until that Friday that news outlets were comfortable in reporting that Biden had won both the popular vote and the majority of the Electoral College.

Were Running Out Of Time To Hold Donald Trump Accountable

Trumps indictment and conviction is overdue. The midterms will be a battle between his acolytes and supporters of fair elections

On Friday, Trump endorsed JD Vance in the Ohio Senate Republican primary. This follows his endorsement of Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvanias Senate Republican primary and Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate race.

The media has framed these endorsements as long-shot bets that could put desired image as a kingmaker at risk. But this misses the point. Whats really at stake for Trump is the selling of Trump and his big lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

To get a strong endorsement from Trump, a candidate apparently must fulfill three prerequisites run in a swing state whose primaries and general election will attract lots of media attention, be totally committed to Trump and his big lie, and be capable of promoting Trump and his lie with the kind of celebrity pizzaz that sells well on television.

Vance celebrity author of Hillbilly Elegy was originally appalled by Trump and his lie, and said so. But now that hes running for the Senate, Vance has become one of the most forceful promoters of Trump and his lie. As Trump noted about Vance, he gets it now.

Walker fits the criteria, as well. He was both a college and NFL star.

Second, the lynchpin of democracy is the peaceful transition of power from those who lose elections to those who win them.

The sooner Trump is held accountable, the safer American democracy will be
