Can A 100 Watt Solar Panel Run A Refrigerator
Yes, a solar generator can run a refrigerator. But it needs to have the right amount of watts to do it.
For example, a 100 watt solar panel can only run a refrigerator for a short time and would also need a battery. This is because 100 watts of solar panels can generate on average 400 watt-hours of energy per day. To run a refrigerator with combined freezer, you would need 2000 watt-hours a day.
This means youd have to invest in a solar generator that has 2000-3000 watts if youd want to run it the entire day.

Should You Buy The Patriot Power Generator
Overall, I am reluctant to recommend the Patriot Power Generator 1800 as a viable option in emergency or even off-grid situations. The unit’s small battery, small solar input and weight of 46lbs combined with its high price tag makes it very hard to justify as a good option.
Especially when you consider the fact that the EcoFlow Delta 1800 is twice the size, has 4 times as much solar power, weighs less, has 6 AC outlets the list goes on.. And is over $600 cheaper!

The Patriot Power Generator: Should You Buy It
The Patriot Power Generator 1800 might have its place in some households, but not mine.
For me, I prefer the Jackery Explorer 500 for both camping trips and backup household power.
If you need more power, there is also the Jackery Explorer 1000.
One of the reasons why I prefer the Jackery 500 is because it weighs just 13 lbs 3 times less than the Patriot.
Granted, it doesnt have as much battery capacity, but if you just need backup power for a few basic devices, its more than big enough and doesnt weigh a ton.
Im always clumsily stumbling around with generators during a blackout, but the Jackery 500 comes with features that make it very convenient during a power outage, in emergency situations, or while out camping, such as a built-in carry handle, backlit display screen, and a built-in low-power LED flashlight thats perfect if the lights go out.

In the same scenario, the Patriot weighs a ton, is hard to move around, and has no built-in flashlight feature. Boo.If youre looking for a lightweight solar generator with a ton of features that are great in an emergency, or even just during camping trips, go for the Jackery Explorer 500.

Patriot Power Generator Solar Input Potential
The Patriot Power Generator 1800 comes with a MPPT charge controller built into its system, which is a huge upgrade from the Patriot Power Generator 1500 model which lacked this key component. That said, the patriot power generator is rated for less than 240 watts of solar input meaning the most you could ever have going into the generator is two x 100 watt solar panels. Because of this, we feel as though the patriot power generator is not the most ideal option for emergency backup.
How Many Plugs Are On The Patriot Power Generator
The output availability on the patriot generator is surprisingly lacking, however. The outputs contain only two AC ports , which is quite low for the size of the inverter. You can really only 2 things plugged in at once on the patriot power generator which is not ideal in an emergency situation.
I think 4Patriots might have done this purposefully so as to prevent users from overloading the system, however Im a bit confused with this decision. Also included are two DC outlets , and four USB outlets for phone chargers, lights etc.

Patriots Survival Food Vs Competitors
I do not recommend buying survival food kits from 4Patriots. I have to hand it to them, they do have convincing commercials, but that doesnt mean theyre the best option on the market.
If youre looking for a low-cost survival food kit, Id highly recommend ordering from My Patriot Supply instead. They ship quickly, have excellent packaging, and their food is tasty. Im not saying its grandmas home cooking, but it is better than most of the prepared or boxed food options at the grocery store .

If budget is less of an issue, and youre looking for the absolute best survival food, Id suggest ordering from Valley Food Storage or Nutrient Survival. Water storage and filtration are just as important than survival food, and I have a comprehensive guide to emergency water filtration options as well. By far the best option on the market for water filtration is the Berkey filter, and we use ours every day . For storage, we can water in mason jars at home, largely because we have so many canning jars on hand . It works well for us, but there are plenty of other options too.
How Much Is The Patriot Power Generator
As mentioned earlier in the article, the Patriot Power Generator 1800 retails for roughly $2,500 on their website. The product is not sold anywhere else, not even on Amazon. The Patriot power generator does come with 1 x 100W foldable solar panel. As for the quality of the solar panel, we cannot say, as the brand or efficiency is not listed on the website.
In addition to foldable solar panels, the Patriot Power Generator kit comes with a few other parts and accessories. This includes a flashlight, a popup solar lantern, grid failure reading material, and emergency survival food .

What Are The Pros And Cons Of A Solar Generator
For your convenience, Ive made a list of the pros and cons of a solar generator.
Pros:
- Limited power supply
Just remember every solar generator is different, so this is a generic list. For example, there are several solar generators that wont break the bank its really just a matter of what you need. Be mindful of the fact the more watts a generator can dish out, the generally pricier it will be.
It Holds Charge For 6
Most solar generators and portable power stations will lose their charge at around the 6 month mark, but the Patriot can hold its charge for anywhere up to 12 months.This makes it ideal if you just get power outages every so often you only need to recharge the product on an annual basis to make sure that its still holding charge.

Whats It Like To Order From 4patriots
Normally I wouldnt go into the ordering experience, and I dont in my other reviews of survival food. In most cases, you order the foodand then they ship you the food. End of story.
I feel like it bears mentioning that this process was really different from any other company Ive dealt with to date, for survival food or anything else.
They try to up-sell you at every single step of the process, from adding something to your cart, to the ordering pages, and even after your order is placed. I received nearly 2 dozen emails encouraging me to add to my order, just in the time between when my order was placed and when it was shipped.
That deal that seems too good to be true? It is. Thats the loss leader, and they intentionally take several weeks to ship your product. During that time youll receive several emails a day, each one more urgent, trying to get you to add to your order.
Frank Bates, the name the emails nominally come from, is incredibly convincing. I received literally dozens of emails from him before my food was shipped, all stressing that my survival depended on adding on just a few more things to my orderliterally, my life depended on it. ACT NOW!
No Battery Expansion Capability
As noted in reason #1, the battery size of the Patriot 1800 is very small at only 690wh. With the Patriot thats all you get. If you have more batteries or wanted to add more batteries to it in order to make it last longer running equipment you cant add them. Theres no way to expand the battery capacity.
This is why its recommended to get the Titan instead. The Titan comes with one 2,000wh battery. But another unique benefit to the Titan is that you can add as many batteries as you want. Not only that but you can get more Titan batteries and stack them vertically on the Titan.
The Titan is only portable solar generator in the world to have a stacking battery setup. Theres no need to get heavy cables and attach batteries externally taking up more space. No need to wonder if youre hooking it up right or if youre about to blow up thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Its simple, safe and easy with the Titan batteries.
To add batteries you simply balance the Titan batteries by charging them to 100%, remove the top section of the Titan called the Power Module, stack another battery on top of the battery/batteries that were already connected, place the power module back on top, and latch it down.

This product clocks in at around $2,500, which is pretty expensive despite all the free items you get with it.Now, I understand that most large power generators are expensive, but this thing only has a 768Wh battery capacity.In the words of Shania Twain that dont impress me much!For the same price, you can get other power generators with much bigger battery capacities, or you can just build your own DIY solar generator.
The thing is, for its price, this just doesnt cut the mustard.

It Has 2500 Battery Life Cycles
The Patriot 1800 supposedly has 2,500 life cycles according to the manufacturer, though thats obviously quite hard to test out anytime soon. In theory, this means that you could use this product every single day for almost 7 years before you would need a replacement.Its a nice feature, but I highly doubt anyone would ever use a generator that often unless they live totally off-the-grid.
