Nfl : How To Watch Patriots Vs Falcons On Thursday Night Football Without Cable

A rematch of Super Bowl 51 kicks off Week 11 on Fox, NFL Network and Prime Video.

For the sake of Falcons fans everywhere, let’s hope Atlanta doesn’t race out to a 28-3 lead tonight against the Patriots. That was the score toward the end of the third quarter in Super Bowl 51 when Tom Brady led the Patriots to a 34-28 overtime victory. Tom Brady is now in Tampa Bay, but Matt Ryan is still the quarterback for the Falcons. In this rematch, Ryan and the Falcons will face rookie quarterback Mac Jones for the Patriots.

Three Players Ill Be Watching Not Named Tom Brady

Rob Gronkowski: Some Patriots fans will be upset at him for how it ended here. Some might even boo. Gronkowski dragged out his retirement decision in March 2019, costing the Patriots a shot at attempting to replace him in free agency. When he decided to play again last fall, he and his advisers leveraged his way to Tampa to join Brady.

You know what? Thats fine. Bitter departures happen. Ill remember Gronkowski as the best all-around tight end in football history, an absolute joy to watch, and a good-natured goofball who gave his all to this team, enduring by his count nine surgeries when he was here.

His rejuvenation with the Bucs he has 16 catches for 184 yards and 4 touchdowns this season is cool to witness, even if it comes with a little bit of envy that Bucs fans get to pretend another player who made his legend here actually belongs to them.

Gronkowski is in their club for now. But theyll never know the fun of watching him throw someone out of one for the first time.

Antonio Brown: On the depth chart of Bucs players the Patriots have to worry about, Brown is probably fourth or fifth, behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Gronk at the least.

Brown, who is back from the reserve/COVID list, has six catches for 138 yards and a touchdown in two games. But this much is certain: It would be extremely annoying if he has any success Sunday, and not just because hes a loathsome character in general, though that is reason enough to root against him.

Patriots Will Play Tom Bradys Buccaneers Next Season As Nfl 2021 Opponents Finalized

When Do the Patriots Play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady AP

Coming in 2021: Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots vs. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There will also be 15 other games on the schedule.

We dont know the exact week-to-week schedule year, but we do know who the Patriots are going to play in 2021 as next seasons opponents are finalized during Week 17.

Following Sundays afternoon results, the last factors determining New Englands 2021 opponents were decided, as noted by Pro Football Focus Lee Sharpe. So, heres who the Patriots will play:

  • Miami Dolphins
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Dallas Cowboys

We already knew the Patriots were going to play each AFC East rival twice. We also know they would face all the teams from the AFC South and NFC South, based on how schedules rotate through divisions. Its the same reason the Patriots played all the teams in the AFC West and NFC West this year.

But now after Sundays games, we know that the Patriots will now face the third-place teams in the other AFC divisions. The Patriots were already playing the AFC Souths Houston Texans. They will also face the AFC Norths Cleveland Browns and AFC Wests Los Angeles Chargers.

Additionally, if the NFL does add a 17th game next season the Patriots would play the standings counterpart in the NFC. New England finished third in the AFC East. As a result, theyll play the third-place team in the NFC East, which is the Dallas Cowboys.

Nfl Odds: How Bucs Biggest Flaw Could Keep Patriots In Game With Plenty Of Points

Betting on the GOAT to do GOAT things on Sunday night feels like a safe proposition. There are two competing storylines for how most people expect this game to play out. Narrative one is that Tom Brady plays a near-flawless game as the Buccaneers blow out the Patriots in Foxboro. Brady exacts his final revenge on New England and leaves victorious after accounting for numerous touchdowns and passing yards. The other narrative is that no coach knows Tom Brady like Bill Belichick. Belichick crafts the perfect game plan that gives Brady a headache all night and slows him down enough for the Patriots to keep this game close if not win outright.

The actual outcome probably fits somewhere in between the two, which is why Tom Brady to go over 2.5 passing touchdowns at a plus price is one of the best bets on the weekend. The Patriots defense isnt playing at the level most give them credit for, as they are 22nd in PFFs opponent-adjusted grade. The only way New England is going to cover is by keeping pace with the Buccaneers offense, which could turn this game into a shootout. In this likely scenario, no matter what team covers, we should see Tom Brady exceed 2.5 passing touchdowns.

With Tom Brady And Rob Gronkowski Switching Sides From New England Patriots To Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2021 Could Give Us A Surreal Regular

New England Patriots fans might have had this bad dream before but somehow that dream has turned into a reality. Quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski will be playing for another team in 2020.

As practically none of us predicted, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be the new home of arguably the two greatest Patriots to ever play the game. So as the dust begins to settle, theres one major question for everyone in New England: will they play against Tampa Bay anytime soon?

Considering the odds of both teams making the Super Bowl next season are low, we have to look forward to the 2021 regular season as the potential homecoming game for the dynamic duo. Obviously a date and time have not been set yet but chances are the NFL will be determined to make the matchup a primetime spectacle.

Even if both stay healthy, which never can be guaranteed, the big unknown is that Gronkowski might decide to go back into retirement after this season. As of right now, Gronkowski only remains under contract for 2020 and who knows how his play will be impacted after a full year away from the game.

Brady could mull the retirement option too, but he will be under contract come the 2021 season. If anything, at least Brady returning to Foxborough for one last game looks to be on track.

Well, we have to play the waiting game for a bit, but mark your calendars for 2021.

Throwing His Weight Around

Bucs outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka ended a Patriots drive midway through the third quarter with a sack, but his efforts paled in comparison to those of teammate Vita Vea.

The 6-foot-4, 347-pound Vea took out two Patriots linemen with a power rush, clearing a lane for Tryon-Shoyinka, who swallowed up quarterback Mac Jones, forcing a New England punt.

Final: Buccaneers 19 Patriots 17

In the end, the Patriots came up just short in a game where few felt they had a real chance to win. If they were just a few yards closer for Nick Folk, perhaps the kicker makes the kick of his life.

All in all, a valiant effort for Mac Jones, who was 31-of-40 for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The defense had their share of stops and limited the Bucs to just 19 points, but a pass interference call on Kyle Van Noy helped move the Bucs 31 yards downfield for the eventual game-winning field goal by Ryan Succop.

The Patriots can come out of this game saying they gave the GOAT their best shot, but they are now 1-3 and in need of a serious turnaround to get into playoff contention for the rest of the season.

Bucs To Start Richard Sherman

Five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Sherman, 33, will start for the Bucs today against the Patriots due to a plethora of injuries in Tampa Bays secondary, the Tampa Bay Times confirmed.

The Bucs got some more bad news Saturday, as cornerback Jamel Dean was ruled out and starter Carlton Davis was downgraded to questionable.

Will Brady Break The Nfl’s All

This seems likely, as Brady is just 68 yards away from Drew Brees’ mark of 80,358 yards that stands as the most ever in the regular season.

If he does accomplish this feat, Brady will add that to his long list of NFL records that already includes most TD passes , most wins as a starting quarterback , most Super Bowl titles and most conference championships .

No quarterback in NFL history has played more or produced more in a single venue than Brady has at Gillette Stadium. Since first appearing there when it opened in 2002, Brady has made 157 starts in the regular season and playoffs there, winning 134 of them while throwing for 41,285 yards and 304 TDs.

Those marks are all records, with Brees ranking second in yardage and TDs at the Superdome, Brett Favre standing at No. 2 in starts at Lambeau Field and John Elway ranking second in wins at Mile High Stadium.

Picking On The New Guy

The Patriots threw at recently signed cornerback Richard Sherman a couple of times during a mid-second-quarter drive, and it helped lead to a go-ahead touchdown.

Sherman was called for pass interference on NKeal Harry on a short pass to the right side of the field, the 10-yard penalty moving the ball to the Tampa Bay 37.

After a holding penalty against Mike Onwenu cost New England the 10 yards, Mac Jones completed a 16-yard pass across the middle to Kendrick Bourne to the Bucs 31 with Sherman in coverage. The play turned a second-and-20 situation into a much more manageable third-and-4.

Five plays and a pass interference call against Carlton Davis later, the Patriots got on the scoreboard on an 11-yard pass from Jones to tight end Hunter Henry.
