New England Patriots 2020 Attendance Policy
UPDATE: On August 20th it was announced that there would be no fans allowed at Gillette Stadium through September. In the announcement they also stated that they “will continue its preparations to safely host fans later this fall and will rely on guidance from the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory Board and our team of independent experts.”
On July 14th, the Patriots announced that if fans are allowed at Gillette Stadium this season, it will be with limited capacity and fans will have to wear face coverings. Here’s more from the team’s announcement:
Pending state and local approval, should Gillette Stadium be allowed to have fans in the stands this season, it is expected to host about 20 percent of its total capacity. Ticketed parties will be asked to maintain physical distancing of at least six feet from other parties, tickets will be arranged in blocks of 10 seats or less, and the first eight rows of stadium seats will not be used. Additionally, face coverings will be required at all times inside the stadium to keep all attendees safe.
Patriots Putnam Club and Season Ticket Members will have the first opportunity to purchase individual game tickets if fans are allowed, and any remaining ticket inventory will go on-sale to the general public once the member process is complete.
It was also announced that parking for all Patriots home games this season will be free, walk up purchases will be suspended, and all tickets this season would be mobile entry.
Hopeful For Full Stadiums Patriots Delay Season
The New England Patriots had no fans in 2020. They hope to have many fans in 2021. Specifically, they hope to have full stadiums.
Via Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal, the Patriots have delayed the due date for season-ticket payments from March to June 1. In a letter to season-ticket holders, the team explained that it is very optimistic that we will have fans in the stands and hopeful that we will be able to do so at full capacity.
Ultimately, the Patriots will only be able to do that which state and local officials also the team to do.
As we eagerly prepare for a new football season with fans in attendance, the greatest resource we now have available to us is a safe and effective vaccine, the team said in the letter. Gillette Stadium has been used as a vaccination site.

Patriots Extend Deadline For Renewing Season Tickets Citing Covid

New England Patriots season ticket holders are getting a little more time to decide if they’re going to renew for the 2021 season.
In a letter sent to the season ticket holders, the team announced that the deadline for renewal is being extended to June 1. Usually, the decision is due during March.
Fans could not attend any games at Gillette Stadium during the 2020 season, but team officials say they hope vaccinations and other public health measures will allow that to change for the upcoming season.
“As we look ahead to the 2021 season, we are very optimistic that we will have fans in the stands and hopeful that we will be able to do so at full capacity. While we await greater clarity on the decisions required to allow for that reality, we understand the months ahead hold some degree of uncertainty for you as well,” the team’s Member Services division wrote.
Ticket pricing did not change for 2021 and the letter emphasizes changes made at Gillette Stadium in light of the pandemic.
“Including a permanent move to mobile ticketing and the implementation of cashless payments across all concessions and merchandise locations inside of the stadium,” officials wrote.
