This was my first fifth wheel hitch that I have ever used or installed on my truck. It was recommended to me by other RV folks that have fifth wheels. The price for the hitch was very competitive. The customer service and support line was extremely helpful. The hitch is very easy to put in and take out of the truck. It is also very easy to hook up to my fifth wheel. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a hitch to purchase one like this because its easy to use and works great. Well designed for easy use. Heavy duty. Operates flawlessly. We decided on the B& W Patriot w/slider as we have a short-bed pickup and we carry 10′ kayak’s on top of the cab that extend over the bed space. The kayak’s make turning with the fifth-wheel a bet more challenging and the easy to use slider option was very attractive. I am concerned with the actual hitch sits about 6 inches further back in my truck than my previous Reese Pro Series 15K slider hitch, using the same mounting rails. I’ve not run my truck & trailer over scales yet to determine the impact of this mounting difference. Also, the kingpin bracket is very close to my tailgate when slid back. Gonna have to watch that!1312230

Top of the line hitch, no mounting hardware included….
It’s probably the best hitch around. But had news is that the mounting plates are not included with this hitch. Huge bummer when waiting for it to arrive and having to go through a huge prossess to get it delivered. Open it up and no mounting bars. Having to scramble around the rest of the afternoon trying to find something. But way down in the description clear in the bottom tiny print it says mounting bars are not included. You just have to dig for it for a while but you’ll find it where it says it.

You get what you pay for and this will handle and perform as it should. The side to side pivot and sliding features are very nice. You will need help getting it out of the bed of your truck as it is very heavy!!

Today we’re going to be taking a look at the B& W Patriot fifth wheel trailer hitch with slider. With an 18,000 pound capacity, the part number is BWRVK3270.Now the need for a sliding system like the Patriot is going to come up when you’re trying to haul a camper with a short bed truck. It’s just not feasible to navigate around with the limited maneuverability you’ll have before they camper wants to make contact with the cab of the truck. With the Patriot system, it’s able to move a full 12″ from the towing position back into the maneuvering position. This is going to allow us the extra room we need from the front of the camper to the rear of our cab to help us navigate through the campsites, parking lots, things like that. When it’s time to haul back down the road, release that lever once again.
They’re designed with 3/4″ thick material. These are designed to really hold up for a long time and a lot of mileage without getting any kind of looseness in here.Another nice touch with the Patriot system is going to be the gray powder coat finish. Usually you’ll see the black. It really helps it stand out and sets it apart from other systems we see out there. B& W of course is made 100% right here in the United States with American steel, so it’s a good product that has a good fit and finish to it.Now when installing our Patriot, we want to drop the tabs that stick down off the bottom they’re going to have holes located in them in the appropriate slots in our rails.
