In their long term food storage kits, they up the calorie count to 2,000 calories a day because youre not entering a disaster where youre going to need to survive off your food storage long term. This means you need to be able to keep your body weight up in the long run.
Their long term food storage kits are a better deal overall. You get more calories per day for about the same price per day.

Ready Hour is My Patriot Supplys newly rebranded line of emergency food storage. Theyve moved from the old Patriot Pantry name where every package looked like it was pancake mix, to a new modern design which I kind of like.
The food still has the same 25+ year shelf life, it just has a different package and theyve changed up some things to make it taste a little better.
With the switch in names, they also added something that I dont remember seeing in other food storage companies, guaranteed 2 day delivery in the lower 48. If youre outside of the lower 48 youre still looking at traditional delivery times, but for the rest of us, thats really fast!
At least now theres a place to order food storage if youve been procrastinating and potentially have a storm bearing down on you.

My patriot supply is one of the best-known emergency food suppliers, and their food is consistently less expensive than other long-term food storage options. But how does it taste? Does this emergency food kit have enough calories to keep you satisfied?
Generally, Im skeptical of emergency food companies, especially those with apocalyptic advertising that plays on peoples worst fears. Theres nothing stopping a company from making horrible food if they think youre just going to pack it away in the bunker and never eat it.
If youre going to store emergency food, its incredibly important to test it ahead of time, both to learn how it tastes and learn how to cook it.
Patriot food supply is one of the most inexpensive emergency food options on the market, and I honestly wasnt expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised and all their food was easy to cook and had good flavor.
The portions are larger than many emergency food brands, and they contain a minimum of 2,000 calories per day.
Add in 25-year shelf life and space-saving packaging, and this is a great option to keep on a shelf in the back closet for the next emergency.
That said, there are some downsides . These are not the very best emergency meals in my opinion, but they are the best budget emergency food available on the market today.

Is There Really 4 Weeks Worth
These two buckets are sold under the premise that they will provide one person with four weeks worth of food. Is that really the case?
There are a few ways to look at it:
- Are there enough servings to last 4 weeks?
- Are there enough calories to last 4 weeks?
Ready Hours argument is based on the assumption that one person needs 2,000 calories per day. Twenty-eight days at two-thousand calories per day equals 56,000 calories. I did not count the calories per serving, but I will take them at their word that there are 56,000 calories in these two buckets.
I am sure that if push came to shove and it was TEOTWAWKI, I could live for 4 weeks on these two buckets of food. I am also sure it wouldnt be easy. Eating nothing but freeze-dried food can get old fast. A few days in and youll be feeling desperate for a piece of real fruit or something fresh off the grill.
This is the nature of any food, however. Eat the same type of food for any length of time and you will grow tired of it. Our bodies crave dietary diversity. This is why I see freeze-dried foods of this type as a supplement to other food stores, not as the end-all be-all to long-term food storage.
Youll also want to store real rice, be able to make hot coffee after the apocalypse, and be able to add some fresh meat with a simple squirrel gun. Having food from a variety of sources in a variety of styles will help you stay interested in eating the days meals during a catastrophic event.
How To Store Your Food
When you get your food from My Patriot Supply, most of the hard work is done for you. A majority of their kits come in plastic containers and all of their food comes in sealed mylar pouches with oxygen absorbers.
The only thing youll need to do is find a cool dry place between 55 and 75 degrees to store it. If youre storing your food above 75 degrees, they warn that you may shorten the shelf life.
As long as its relatively cool, Id expect to get the full 25 years out of it. If you have it in a garage that gets really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter then youre definitely going to lose some of the shelf life.

They have a nice breakfast/brunch menu. Enjoyed the Peameal eggs benedict. Friends enjoyed the chicken & waffles and the classic.Good service and staff are friendly. Our only negative is, that the restaurant is small. They need use the two parking spots directly in front of their restaurant and invest in putting in a nice summer patio. Most restaurants have done this. Many customers enjoy eating on a patio, especially this year with most of the covid restrictions no longer in place.
I went here for the 1st time and was blown away with their coffee. They also serve food but I didn’t have time to order any. I recommend their Nutella Latte.
