WASHINGTON President Trump’s campaign dropped a new TV spot over the weekend that spikes the football on Fridays surprising job numbers.

The Great American Comeback has begun. A record 2.5 million new jobs in May, and we’re just getting started, the spots narrator begins.

Before the pandemic. President Trump made our economy the envy of the world. Now he’s doing it again, bringing devastated industries back, working to build factories here instead of China, getting direct cash relief to families.


Team Trump has long wanted to pivot the message away from the coronavirus and to the economy. So its no surprise theyre trumpeting the good news from Fridays report.

But unemployment is still in the double-digits the economy lost eight times the jobs in April than it gained in May and the CBO predicted the coronavirus would kneecap economic growth over the long term.

Democrats are spending millions trying to lay the pandemic at Trumps feet, setting up a clear dynamic that will continue into the fall.

The American Health Care Act of 2017 was a bill in the 115th United States Congress. The bill, which was passed by the United States House of Representatives but not by the United States Senate, would have partially repealed the Affordable Care Act .


The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected that the AHCA would have increased the number of uninsured people by 23 million over 10 years, but would have decreased the federal budget deficit by $119 billion over the same period. Polling consistently showed that the AHCA was deeply unpopular with the American population during and after its evaluations in Congress. Business Insider stated that the AHCA was “the least popular major bill in decades”, and major medical organizations, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, strongly condemned the bill and excoriated its supporters in Congress.

Biden Harris Raise $342 Million In Day And A Half After Announcing Ticket

WASHINGTON Former Vice President Joe Biden’s selection of California Sen. Kamala Harris to join his Democratic presidential ticket has led to a massive fundraising boost for the campaign.

From the time Harris was announced as the vice-presidential pick on Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday, the campaign brought in over $34.2 million, including from more than 150,000 first time contributors, the campaign announced.

The campaign saw its best digital fundraising hour from the moment she was announced Tuesday afternoon, a record that was broken just one day later, after Harris and Biden appeared publicly together for the first time in Wilmington, Del.


The response has been overwhelming,” Biden said during the tickets first grassroots fundraiser Wednesday, where he added that the campaign saw 150,000 first-time contributors over the short span.

“It’s really palpable the excitement because there is so much at stake.”

Long before Joe Biden would choose Harris as his running mate, he stressed his wish to tap someone who would be a partner in governing and campaigning. On Tuesday, Biden described the financial support his campaign saw in the wake of the announcement as proof he made the right choice.

You know, it seems Americans all across this nation, at least at the outset here, agree with me, Biden said after describing Harris as the right person to serve as his vice president if elected.

President Trump outlined his long-awaited health care plan on Thursday, signing a series of executive orders he said are aimed at protecting Americans with pre-existing conditions, ending surprise billing and introducing more affordable public options.


The move comes as the Trump administration tries to overturn ObamaCare in the Supreme Court after getting rid of the key enforcement tool of the law, the individual mandate, when Congress eliminated the penalty for not having insurance.

Abolishing it could mean 20 million Americans lose their health insurance, though the case will not be heard until after the election.

Were delivering better care with more choice at a much lower cost and working to ensure Americans have access to the care they need, Trump said of his America First Health Care Plan at an event in Charlotte, NC.

The first executive order requires that health insurance companies cover all pre-existing conditions for all customers, a move he floated in August.

President Barack Obamas plan, formally known as the Affordable Care Act, already includes a provision that prevents insurers from discriminating against Americans with pre-existing medical conditions.


But railing against ObamaCare as a terrible plan that sent premiums soaring, Trump claimed the GOP was the new party of health care.

When I took office, more than 50 percent of counties nationwide offered plans from only a single insurance company on the individual market, Trump said.

In the weeks since, the president’s team hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with details. But President Trump has hardly been inactive on health care during his term. In fact, his administration has taken a number of important but underappreciated steps to boost consumer choice and affordability in the healthcare marketplace.

Take the administration’s 2018 rule expanding access to association health plans. Under these plans, groups of small businesses or self-employed workers can band together to enroll in large-group insurance coverage. In some instances, a large-group plan can offer savings of nearly 20% compared to a small-group plan with the same benefits.

Before the rule was promulgated, small businesses had to have a “commonality of interest” aside from providing health insurance in order to sponsor an association plan. They also had to have at least one employee, so self-employed workers couldn’t join.

WASHINGTON As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States passes the five million mark, the Democratic National Committees rapid response arm is out with a new digital video highlighting President Donald Trumps oft-repeated contention that the coronavirus pandemic will disappear and go away.

The video features the president’s comments juxtaposed against the cautionary words of the White House Coronavirus Task Forces Dr. Deborah Birx.

The ad, which will appear unpaid on DNC social media platforms, is part of the larger push the committee is making to contrast Trumps record with the plans presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden says he will offer when it comes to the coronavirus. As we reach this horrible milestone of 5 million cases, were holding him accountable for still not having a plan to control the virus, even as more than 160,000 Americans have died and millions have lost their jobs, Lily Adams, DNC War Room senior spokesperson told NBC News.

In July, the DNC began its first TV ad campaign of the 2020 cycle, marking the five year anniversary of the announcement Trumps 2016 candidacy and his now-famous ride down that Trump Tower escalator. That ad, titled Descent, focuses on the decline of American jobs, health care, race relations, and immigrant rights.

Trump Campaign Reserves More Than $95 Million In Tv Time For The Fall

WASHINGTON President Trumps campaign has booked more than $95 million in broadcast television time this fall, as the re-election has been pushed onto the defensive in recent months in many states key to the presidents success in November.

The campaign made the reservations throughout the day on Monday reserving time earlier in the cycle helps to lock the investment in when theres less competition for the airwaves, but campaigns can add, subtract or shuffle their ad dollars around as the year draws on.

And while the outlay by team Trump is massive, its not indicative of the final ad dollars that will ultimately be spent in the presidential race because former Vice President Joe Bidens campaign hasnt booked its fall TV time yet.

The investments run across six states that Trump won in 2016, but where recent polls have shown the president either tied with Biden or down Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The new buys run from Sept. 8 through Election Day.

So far, the Trump campaign has reserved the most for Florida, where its booked more than $32 million. The plurality of that spending is planned for the Tampa area, with Orlando close behind.

WASHINGTON Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund is booking $6 million in television and digital ads to boost former Vice President Joe Biden in Florida, NBC News has learned.

The group is partnering with Priorities USA, the major Democratic super PAC thats supporting Biden and attacking President Trump, on production and strategy. Everytown plans to spend $4 million in TV ads in the Orlando and Tampa markets and $2 million in statewide digital ads starting after Labor Day and running for five weeks.

Facing a gun violence crisis that claims 100 American lives every day, President Trump has chosen the gun lobby over the safety of the American people at every turn, John Feinblatt, the head of Everytown Victory Fund, said in a statement. Together with Priorities, were going all-in to make sure Trumps a one-term president. Everytown has an aggressive plan to mobilize voters in Florida, who know the pain of gun violence all too well and are poised to play a decisive role in electing Joe Biden, a proven gun sense champion.

The announcement marks the groups first formal entry into the presidential races TV ad wars of the cycle, and its largest-ever investment in a presidential race. The state has seen a handful of mass shootings in recent years, including at an LGBT-friendly nightclub in 2016 and a Miami-area high school in 2018.

WASHINGTON Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign is expanding its paid media effort into Ohio with a message focused on his new economic agenda, a sign of the campaigns increasingly bullish view of the battleground map and a shot at President Donald Trump on the issue he’s counted on to keep him in the White House.

Until Thursday, the Democratic nominees campaign has focused most of its advertising on six states Trump carried in 2016 Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Earlier this week, it added battleground Nevada to a new $14.5 million in ad spending across those battleground states.

Meanwhile, recent TV and radio ad spending figures from the ad-tracking firm Advertising Analytics show Trump’s campaign drastically ramping down its spending in Michigan, a state key to Trump’s victory in 2016.

The Trump campaign has spent $3.5 million on the air in Ohio since April 1, the only other major spending there in that period in a state the president won by 8 points in 2016.

Multiple States Hold Key Primaries As Coronavirus Pandemic Floyd Protests Continue

WASHINGTON On the day of George Floyd’s funeral in Houston and as coronavirus cases continue to rise, several states are holding primaries to determine which candidates will represent their parties come November.

Here are the races the NBC News political unit are paying closest attention to:

Georgia Senate: The top primary contest to watch is in Georgia, where several Democrats are running for the right to challenge Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., in the fall.

The favorite in this Democratic primary is 2017 congressional nominee, Jon Ossoff, and his top challengers are former Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and businesswoman Sarah Riggs Amico. The Cook Political Report lists the race as Lean Republican for November.

If none of the candidates break 50 percent, the Top 2 will advance to an Aug. 11 runoff.

South Carolina Senate: Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Democrat Jaime Harrison receive nominal primary opposition ahead of their expected November showdown in the Palmetto State. Harrison has raked in significant fundraising ahead of today’s contest.

Nevada 3rd District: Republicans will pick their nominee in Nevada to face Democratic Congresswoman Susie Lee, D-Nev., in the competitive Nevada district.

Nevada 4th District: Also in Nevada, incumbent Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford, who recently admitted to having an affair with a former Senate staffer, is receiving a primary challenge from multiple Democrats, as well as Republicans who are trying to reclaim the seat.

WASHINGTON Despite presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Bidens pledge to announce his running mate by the first week of August, the political world still awaits his decision as the clock ticks down to the formal party nomination.

NBC News reported Monday that Biden planned to whittle his vice presidential list down to three or four candidates this week and have in-person meetings with his top contenders.

But Bidens wife, Dr. Jill Biden, assured that an announcement was coming soon.

We’re close, she said in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday. He’s close, he’s got to make the final decision.

With the highly-awaited choice just around the corner, heres what some of the contenders have been up to this week.

Sen. Kamala Harris: The California senator has been highly visible over recent days, continuing to put herself in the public eye as a top pick. And Biden himself confirmed that Harris remains in the veepstakes amid reports that some of his aides were pushing against her as the choice.

She’s very much in contention, he said during an interview Thursday.

Harris remained vague, however, telling reporters on Capitol Hill, You probably know more than I do!

But she wasnt quiet on other matters namely that shes too ambitious to be the presumptive Democratic nominees veep.

Sometimes you get cut, sometimes it hurts, but it is worth it, she added.

Rep. Karen Bass: With more national name recognition comes more scrutiny.

Trump Campaign Returns To Airwaves In Wi Still Dark In Mi And Pa

WASHINGTON President Trump’s campaign returned to the Wisconsin airwaves on Tuesday, marking the first time the campaign aired significant TV or radio advertising in the state in almost two weeks.

Trumps campaign spent $110,000 there Tuesday, and its slated to spend the same on Wednesday, according to data from Advertising Analytics. It had been dark there since July 29.

But while the campaign has returned to Wisconsin airwaves, it has been off the air in both Pennsylvania and Michigan for at least two weeks .

But while the campaign isn’t spending on TV or radio ads there, it has had some outside help. Since the campaign dropped off the air, the GOP group Restoration PAC has spent $2.4 million on ads in Michigan, and America First Action super PAC has spent $2.9 million in Pennsylvania.

The Trump campaign announced last month it would briefly pull ads to review its ad strategy, and it returned to the air days later touting a new focus on North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Arizona ahead of early voting.

But that new strategy so far hasnt included the Great Lakes states key to Trumps victory in 2016, states he won by the narrowest of margins.

Pac With Democratic Ties Weighs In On Kansas Senate Gop Primary

WASHINGTON A newly formed PAC with ties to Democrats is inserting itself into Kansas Senate GOP primary with a new ad hammering Rep. Roger Marshall providing a not-so-subtle, de facto boost for failed 2018 gubernatorial nominee, Kris Kobach, who some Republicans fear could lose the partys historically safe seat if nominated.

“Kris Kobach, hes too conservative,” the 30-second spot from Sunflower State begins hardly a negative for Republican primary voters slated to choose their nominee early next month.

“Roger Marshall’s a phony,” the ad continues. “After backing a Mitt Romney-like candidate for president, hes been soft on Trump and weak on immigration. Marshalls been both for and against the wall. He went easy on China, but now talks tough. Roger Marshall: Fake, fake, fake.”

Sunflower State has booked about $900,000 in ad time through the Aug. 4 primary, data from Advertising Analytics shows. Kobach and Marshall lead a broad field of candidates competing in the Kansas Senate GOP contest to earn the right to face expected Democratic nominee, state Sen. Barbara Bollier, to win outgoing Sen. Pat Roberts seat.

Some Republicans worry that if Kobach who lost the states 2018 gubernatorial contest to Democrat Laura Kelly becomes their partys nominee, the traditionally red seat could be up for grabs as Bollier continues to rake in sizable fundraising sums and the DSCC pushes her candidacy.
