Presidential primaries and caucuses of the Republican Party took place in many U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories from February 3 to August 11, 2020, to elect most of the 2,550 delegates to send to the Republican National Convention. Delegates to the national convention in other states were elected by the respective state party organizations. The delegates to the national convention voted on the first ballot to select Donald Trump as the Republican Party’s presidential nominee for president of the United States in the 2020 election, and selected Mike Pence as the vice-presidential nominee.

President Donald Trump informally launched his bid for reelection on February 18, 2017. He launched his reelection campaign earlier in his presidency than any of his predecessors did. He was followed by former governor of MassachusettsBill Weld, who announced his campaign on April 15, 2019, and former Illinois congressmanJoe Walsh, who declared his candidacy on August 25, 2019. Former governor of South Carolina and U.S. representative launched a primary challenge on September 8, 2019. In addition, businessman Rocky De La Fuente entered the race on May 16, 2019, but was not widely recognized as a major candidate.

Trump Considered Blanket Pardon For Capitol Riot Before Leaving Office Report Says

Wednesday 2 February 2022 20:28 , Oliver O’Connell

Donald Trump seriously considered issuing a blanket pardon for all participants in the Capitol riot, Politico reports citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter.

Between January 6 and Joe Bidens inauguration on January 20, then-President Trump made three calls to one adviser to discuss the idea. Do you think I should pardon them? Do you think its a good idea? Do you think I have the power to do it? Mr Trump reportedly asked.

Another adviser to the former president said he asked questions about how participants in the riot might be charged criminally, and how a uniform pardon could provide them protection going forward, the source told Politico.

Is it everybody that had a Trump sign or everybody who walked into the Capitol who could be pardoned? Mr Trump asked, according to that adviser.

He said, Some people think I should pardon them. He thought if he could do it, these people would never have to testify or be deposed.

Us Officials: Russia Prepared False Flag Operation To Justify Ukraine Invasion

Thursday 3 February 2022 19:55 , Oliver O’Connell

US officials believe the Russian government has taken steps to stage a false flag attack against Russian troops by ersatz Ukrainian adversaries and prepare propaganda videos showing Russian casualties, according to multiple reports.

The alleged preparations to fabricate a pretext for invading Ukraine include producing fake video evidence of atrocities supposedly being committed against Russian-speaking Ukrainians in eastern regions of the country where Russia has been supporting separatist movements.

Andrew Feinberg reports from Washington, DC.

Pelosi: America Delivered Justice To Leader Of Isis In Serious Blow To Terrorist Group

Thursday 3 February 2022 17:59 , Oliver O’Connell

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi hailed the success of the strike against ISIS.

Last night, America delivered justice to the leader of ISIS and struck a serious blow to this terrorist group. Our entire nation is grateful for the patriotism and dedication of our military personnel and intelligence community. On behalf of the Congress, I salute President Bidens strong leadership to keep our nation safe and secure.

The death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi is a strong step forward in the fight against ISIS, but the death of this ISIS leader does not mean the death of ISIS. Congress remains ironclad in our commitment to our national security, and we will continue to work closely with the Administration to protect the American people.

Have A Strong 2022 Showing In Florida

Declared Republican candidates (1/2)

Charlie Black, founding member of Prime Policy Group who was a campaign advisor for former Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s 2016 presidential race, said that before DeSantis launches a presidential bid, he should focus on winning his re-election in 2022 then finish out his time as governor. This would mean DeSantis, 43, waiting until 2028 at the earliest to pursue the White House.

“But if he wants to run this time, the best thing he can do is have a big win in the governor’s race,” Black said.

Democrats in Florida will choose who runs against DeSantis in a primary in August. Elections tend to be won by tight margins in the Sunshine State, and DeSantis eked out his 2018 gubernatorial victory by just 32,000 votes.

But general election polling favors DeSantis, and Republicans feel confident about DeSantis’ chances in 2022 regardless of whom he is up against. Rep. Charlie Crist and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried are leading Democratic candidates.

Black stressed that DeSantis should focus on policies affecting Florida, so that if he runs for president, he can run on his accomplishments. Sometimes, Black said, part of DeSantis’ job in Florida might involve fighting with the Biden administration something DeSantis has become famous for but, Black added, “that shouldn’t be your focus every day.”

“He has established a national brand for himself which can be hard when you’re the governor of one state,” Conant said.

If Youve Been Wondering What Rudy Giuliani Has Been Up To

ICYMI: The Masked Singer is facing a mix of outrage and bewilderment on social media after the Fox show reportedly had Rudy Giuliani on as a contestant.

Deadline reported on Wednesday that two judges on the show, Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong, walked out in protest after a losing singer removed his mask, revealing himself to be Mr Giuliani. On Twitter, many viewers protested as well.

My biggest question is why anyone would think that was a good idea?? one user tweeted. Credit to Ken and Robin for having integrity to walk out!

Trump Plugs Social Media Network Backs Canada Truckers And Touts Similar Protest In Dc

18:03 , Oliver O’Connell

Former President Trump has again thrown his support behind the Ottawa truck protest, describing it as standing up to harsh policies of far left lunatic Justin Trudeau.

He also claimed that a similar convoy could be coming to Washington, DC.

Trump also lashed out against Facebook, Twitter and GoFundMe, promising to fight back against Big Tech, plugging his yet to launch social media network TruthSocial.

Facebook and Big Tech are seeking to destroy the Freedom Convoy of Truckers. The Freedom Convoy is peacefully protesting the harsh policies of far left lunatic Justin Trudeau who has destroyed Canada with insane Covid mandates.

Now, thankfully, the Freedom Convoy could be coming to DC with American Truckers who want to protest Bidens ridiculous Covid policies. Facebook is cancelling the accounts of Freedom Convoy USA, and GoFundMe is denying access to funds that belong to the Freedom Convoy.

This is unacceptable and extremely dangerous in any country that values free expression. Truth Social is announcing today that we are welcoming the Freedom Convoy with open arms to communicate freely on TruthSocial when we launch coming soon! TruthSocial will fight back against Big Tech so we can protect our rights to free expression. Also on top of everything, it is big news that Facebook daily users went down for the first time ever, people are tired of biased social media like Twitter and Facebook and its showing in their numbers!

What Makes The 2024 Presidential Election Unique

The lead up to the 2024 presidential election is different from past years because of former President Donald Trump. Hes eligible to run for a second term, and has publicly toyed with the idea while also weighing in on other Republicans he thinks could be the future of the party. If Trump does run in 2024, hed start out with unparalleled name ID and massive support, but if he doesnt, the field could be wide open for other Republicans hoping to win over his supporters. President Joe Biden said recently he expects to run for reelection in 2024.

Cruz leveraged a sophisticated ground game and widespread evangelical support to defeat Trump and win Iowa’s 2016 GOP caucuses. He told Newsmax in July that he is “certainly looking at” running for president again in 2024.

He campaigned on behalf of U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst in October 2020, and he returned to headline a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson as she prepares to run for reelection in 2022.

Republicans Dont Want To Be Talking About Jan 6 On The Midterm Campaign Trial

Thursday 3 February 2022 10:57 , Thomas Fenton

With Donald Trump last weekend indicating that hed like to pardon individuals who participated in the 6 January Capitol Riot, NBCs political contributor Jake Sherman has explained how counterproductive such statements could be to GOP candidates ahead of this years midterms.

If you are a Republican running for election in 2022…you dont want to be talking about January 6 in any competitive race at all. Mr Sherman stated on Katy Turs show, regarding how GOP lawmakers should handle the former Presidents statements on pardoning Jan 6 rioters.

Theres no reason to be talking about this, except to say that the people who have committed violent crimes against democracy, against the capital, should be convicted, he adds.

Latest Trump Statements On 6 January And Ballot Harvesting

Thursday 3 February 2022 14:32 , Andrew Naughtie

The office of Donald Trump has begun another day with a brace of angry statements reiterating false claims about the 2020 election and the events of 6 January 2021.

Railing against what he calls the unselect committee investigating the insurrection, Mr Trump both blames the Capitol attack on Nancy Pelosis supposed failure to secure the building a longstanding Republican talking point with little basis in fact claiming it is more important than the attack itself.

The ex-president also complains about a massive ballot harvesting operation in Georgia and other swing states. It isnt clear exactly what hes referring to, but false claims about the supposed mishandling of ballots have been a staple of Mr Trumps stolen election narrative since before the vote even took place.

Donald Trump Has ‘two Or Three’ People In Mind To Lead Gop In 2024 If He Doesn’t Run

Former President Donald Trump appears to be eying a 2024 presidential run, but he also believes there are some “good people” within the Republican Party who could make a strong candidate if he chooses not to mount another campaign.

Trump’s been teasing a return to the campaign trail since he left office and while he hasn’t officially announced a campaign, he said his supporters would be “very happy” with his decision. The former president leads polls of hypothetical 2024 GOP nominees and his entering the race could convince other presidential hopefuls not to run. However, with Trump out of the race, it’s likely several prominent Republicans would battle for the nomination.

During a Wednesday interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump said there are a “couple of people” who would be “very good” candidates for the nomination if he doesn’t run. He has “two or three” people in mind, but he wouldn’t tell Hewitt specifically who he thought would give Republicans their best chance at winning back the presidency in 2024.

Trump’s likely going to wait until after the 2022 midterms to officially launch a campaign if he plans to run. At that point, he told Hewitt he would “discuss” the subject of who Republicans should “flock to” if he decides not to vie for the presidency again.

Florida Gov Ron Desantis

DeSantis, 42, has quickly emerged as a Republican rising star. He finished second in the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll in February behind Trump, and some see him as the best positioned heir to the Trump mantle.

If Trump doesnt run again, I think hes the odds-on favorite to be the next president, Florida Republican Party chair and state Sen. Joe Gruters told NBC News of DeSantis.

DeSantis appeal is due in part to his combative relationship with the news media he regularly spars with journalists, interrupting or pushing back against their questions in a way Trump fans would appreciate and also because of his handling of the pandemic.

In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, DeSantis wrote that Floridas less-restrictive response to COVID-19 bucked faulty intel from the elites and the state still ended up with comparatively low unemployment, and per capita COVID mortality below the national average. Floridas COVID-19 death rate per 100,000 people is similar to California and Ohio, and so far, about 33,500 Floridians have died from the virus. New research in the American Journal of Public Health suggests the state is undercounting COVID-19 deaths.

Sen Rick Scott Of Florida

Scott, 68, is a first-term senator whose biggest asset could be his fundraising. During his 2018 campaign, he raised more than $20 million, in addition to $63 million of his own money he chipped in, according to Politico, and hes also chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Scott and his wife, Ann Holland, have two children, and he was previously the governor of Florida.

Trump could run again in 2024. If he does, it is hard to see anyone beating him for the Republican nomination.

Although Trump lost the presidential election by around 7 million votes, he is by far the most popular figure in the nation with GOP voters. He has enormous fundraising prowess he raised about $170 million in the month after the election and he can drive media attention like no one else.

Still, Trump will be 78 by the time of the next election. He also faces financial pressures, with large debts coming due in the next few years. He will continue to command headlines but there are solid reasons why he may not run for the presidency again.

There is speculative chatter that one of Trumps children, perhaps his elder daughter Ivanka, could enter the political arena. But here are some other front-line contenders for the GOP nomination in 2024.
