Under The Lease Agreement The State

The lease to the state-owned Patriots Point Links Golf Course is being turned over to one of the areas most prolific real estate developers, the Charleston Post and Courier reported.

The Patriots Point Development Authoritys board voted unanimously December 7 to transfer the rights to operate the 18-hole property to Michael Bennett of Charleston-based Bennett Hospitality, the Post and Courier reported.

The Mount Pleasant, S.C. course, which was opened in 1979, had been leased to the Philadelphia-based investment firm Lubert-Adler and is managed by Atlanta-based Mosaic Clubs and Resorts .

Bennett was not present at the board meeting. Whether Bobby Jones Links will remain as manager will be up to Bennett Hospitality once the transfer is finalized, said Mac Burdette, executive director at Patriots Point, the Post and Courier reported.

The public course joins Bennetts other Patriots Point parcels, including two that Lubert-Adler transferred to Bennett about three years ago. Bennett also controls the long-term lease to a 61-acre property at Patriots Point that he will use to develop a resort that would generate income for the maritime museum, the Post and Courier reported.

According to the Post and Courier report, the addition of the golf course to Bennett is another piece of the puzzle for plans he has for various investments at Patriots Point, Burdette said.

Hes making it part of his destination, he said.

Patriots Point Links Golf Course

Awesome golf course at Patriots Point in Charleston South Carolina. Beautiful greens right on the coast. Good amenities and lovely scenery. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

In town for the day and had some time off. Front 9 holes were closed due to punched greens, had to play back twice. Rental clubs were $50, highest I’ve ever paid on a business trip. Scenic course because a couple holes are on the water, good breeze. Greens are very slow and don’t ride cart on some of the fairways, you’ll probably jar something loose in your back. More like mogul skiing. Snack bar people were super nice.

Very informative, nostalgic, educational. The staff was so helpful and informative. Great way to see how an aircraft carrier functions. The movies clips were great, especially the one about Vietnam

I am typically not into this kind of stuff but there was so much to see in one area and rather people that work there are so very nice. Plan to spend some time there. You will be glad you did.

First time playing Patriots Point. The course was in good shape overall. Tee boxes provide plenty of length from all of them. Fairways were well maintained. Greens had been punched and sanded in past week or so but they putted true. Staff is friendly and pace of play was very good. I will return for future rounds when visiting the Charleston area.
