Grants To The National Museum Of Catholic Art And Library
In each of 1995 and 1999, the Trump Foundation granted $50,000 to the National Museum of Catholic Art and Library. A 2001 report by The Village Voice stated, after visiting the museum in East Harlem, that the facility had “next to no art” and no official connection to the Catholic church, despite a ten-year record of having solicited large-scale donations for its collection. The Voice and, later, The Washington Post, concluded that Trump may have directed the grants to the museum to curry favor with the museum’s then-chairman, Eddie Malloy, who was also head of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York. The council had worked on behalf of one of the unions of workers who worked on Trump construction projects.
Trump Calls For Mcconnell Primary Challenger Over $17t Spending Bill
Well, that didnt take long.
Former President Donald Trump pleaded with his supporters Tuesday to donate to a potential 2024 reelection bid using Mondays FBI raid at his Mar-a-Lago resort to urge every single red-blooded American Patriot to step up during this time.
A headline on an email sent out by Trumps Save America political action committee announced: Breaking: The FBI Raided President Trumps Home: Mar-a-Lago in all caps.
These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, was raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents, the email began, using the same language Trump used to confirm the raid on his Truth Social platform.
Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before, and its important that you know that it wasnt just my home that was violated it was the home of every patriotic American who I have been fighting for since that iconic moment I came down the Golden Escalators in 2015, the email continued as it appealed for contributions.
The message went on to say that Trump stood up to the Radical Lefts corruption, but claimed his opponents are still trying to thwart him following his administrations successes.
As they watch my endorsed candidates win big victories and see my dominance in all polls, they are trying to stop the Republican Party and me once more. The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt, must be exposed and stopped, it reads.

Trump And Allies Raising Funds Off Fbi’s Raid Of Mar
The ex-president said the raid was the latest “political targeting” against him.
Former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies are fundraising off Monday’s FBI raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, providing another platform for Trump to capitalize financially on government investigations related to him.
Trump’s Save America PAC sent out a fundraising email Tuesday morning in which Trump urged supporters to “rush in a donation IMMEDIATELY to publicly stand with me against this NEVERENDING WITCH HUNT.”
Trump, in the email, cast the lawful search of his estate as an attack on all his supporters, saying the FBI raid “violated” not only his home but the “home of every patriotic American who I have been fighting for since that iconic moment I came down the Golden Escalators in 2015.”
$28 Million In Trump Reelection Donations Went To The Trump Organization: Report
Additionally, $4.3 million raised by his campaigns joint-fundraising committee, which collected money with the Republican Party, was spent on Trumps businesses from Jan. 20, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2020, according to Forbes examination of campaign filings to the Federal Election Commission.
Forbes reported mid-year in 2020 that $2.2 million in donations from his campaign alone had already been spent on Trump properties. The Washington Post reported in early December that more than $1.06 million in campaign contributions were spent on Trump businesses in just the last weeks of his race.
Trump never contributed a cent to his reelection campaign, Forbes reported.
Trump raised $76 million after his loss ostensibly to battle the presidential election results and to help the Republican candidates in the vital Senate races in Georgia but didnt spend a dime on any of it, HuffPost has reported.
He put nothing back. He didnt care, one top Republican familiar with the fundraising operation told HuffPost. He put all this money in the bank for his own legal fights.

Trump’s Save America Pac Is Raking In Donations What Can That Money Be Spent On
The Trump campaign’s fundraising shows no signs of abating, though Election Day was over a month ago. Since November 3, the campaign, Republican National Committee, Trump Victory and Trump Make America Great Again joint committees, and President Trump’s new political action committee, Save America, have collected $207.5 million in donations, his campaign announced Thursday.
“These tremendous fundraising numbers show President Trump remains the leader and source of energy for the Republican Party, and that his supporters are dedicated to fighting for the rightful, legal outcome of the 2020 general election,” campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a statement.
As the president’s election challenges continue with lawsuits and recounts in battleground states without a change in the voting results in any state so far his campaign website is begging supporters to give to his “election defense fund” with a meaningless pitch: “Please contribute ANY AMOUNT in the NEXT HOUR and you can increase your impact by 1000%!”
“President Trump needs YOU to step up to make sure we have the resources to protect the integrity of the Election,” the website implored on Friday.
Despite the rhetoric on the website and Stepien’s remarks about supporting the “rightful, legal outcome” of the election, the fine print states that the vast majority of donations are not going toward funding Mr. Trump’s litigation to overturn the election, but rather, to his new leadership PAC, Save America.
A Grand Scheme: Trumps Election Defiance Consumes Gop
The Biden campaign is also raising money into a legal fund. Those funds go to the DNC and to the Biden campaigns recount fund, both of which are allowed to spend money fighting Trumps election challenges.
Currently, when a donor clicks on one of the Trump campaigns fundraising solicitations or donates on Trumps website, they are taken to the Official Election Defense Fund. That will allocate 60 percent of the donation to the leadership PAC, and 40 percent to the RNC. Once the donor has given $5,000 to the PAC the maximum amount allowed for a PAC donation then money will go to Trumps recount fund and the RNC.
Before Trump created the PAC on Monday, the website said a share of the donation would go towards paying the campaigns debts.
Its extremely misleading, said Noti, who noted the RNC already had money set aside for recounts and other post-election legal proceedings that it may spend in the coming weeks. The DNC has a similar account.
Though Trumps attempt to overturn the election results could help him build a valuable foundation for the months to come, some establishment Republicans are increasingly concerned the push will suck money and energy from their partys biggest challenge in the coming months: the high-stakes pair of runoff Senate races in Georgia that will determine which party has control of the Senate.

Why Didnt The Irs Do Its Job
Since 1977, the Internal Revenue Service has had a policy of auditing every presidents personal tax returns while they are in office. But the IRS didnt do any examination of Trumps tax returns until the Ways and Means Committee requested an audit in April of 2019.
When the committee asked Treasury Department representatives about the apparent lapse, they declined to provide information about the actual operations of the mandatory audit program, according to the committees report.
It remains unclear whether Trump received special treatment or, as the committee noted, the IRS was hamstrung by an acute lack of resources.
The lack of an audit looks especially suspect after representatives for Trumps predecessor and successor said they had been subjected to annual audits by the IRS. A Biden White House spokesman told the AP that the IRS audited Biden in both 2020 and 2021. Representatives for former President Barack Obama told the New York Times that the IRS audited him each year he was in office.
Trump Directed $250 Million In Donations To Leadership Pac
Former U.S. President Donald Trump raised $250 million in donations in the weeks after the November 2020 presidential election for an organization ostensibly intended to fund court challenges in support of his false claims that the election was fraudulent. Instead, he directed that money to an unrelated political action committee, or PAC, according to congressional investigators.
In its second hearing about its findings, the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol made the case that the former president knew that he had lost the election but continued raising money from his supporters by sending out appeals for donations to an Election Defense Fund.
The committee played recordings of depositions given by former employees of Trump’s campaign, one of whom said, “I don’t believe there is actually a fund called the Election Defense Fund.”
Another former Trump campaign staffer said the fund was simply a “marketing tactic.”
Money went to leadership PAC
The committee said some of the money Trump’s campaign raised in the weeks after the election went to paying down campaign debt and into the coffers of the Republican National Committee. A large amount also went to a new leadership PAC called Save America, which was formed three days after the election.
Under law, politicians with leadership PACs have broad latitude to spend the money they collect as they see fit.

The Other Cases Include:
- A criminal investigation into possible property crimes, which is linked to the civil fraud case in New York. The state attorney general referred evidence to federal prosecutors and the Internal Revenue Service. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is also investigating.
- Allegations Mr Trump mishandled classified documents, which saw FBI agents search his Mar-a-Lago property on 8 August. He is also being investigated for obstruction of justice.
- The chief prosecutor of Georgia’s Fulton County is investigating potential state election crimes related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Part of this revolves around a phone call, in which the former president told a top state election official to “find 11,780 votes”.
- A congressional committee has accused Mr Trump of inciting “an insurrection” when his supporters ransacked the Capitol on 6 January 2021. There have been no charges arising from this investigation, which is ongoing.
- Various lawsuits by police officers who have accused Mr Trump of inciting the 6 January attack in which they suffered injuries.
In August alone, Mr Trump spent more than $3.8m on legal fees in the wake of the FBI’s search of his Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, the bulk of which – about $3m – went to a nearby Florida firm.
Smaller amounts went to lawyers involved in his other legal issues, including a Georgia investigation into whether he and his allies tried to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Donations Under $8k To Trump Election Defense Instead Go To President Rnc

– As President Donald Trump seeks to discredit last weeks election with baseless claims of voter fraud, his team has bombarded his supporters with requests for money to help pay for legal challenges to the results: The Left will try to STEAL this election! reads one text.
But any small-dollar donations from Trumps grassroots donors wont be going to legal expenses at all, according to a Reuters review of the legal language in the solicitations.
A donor would have to give more than $8,000 before any money goes to the recount account established to finance election challenges, including recounts and lawsuits over alleged improprieties, the fundraising disclosures show.
The emailed solicitations send supporters to an Official Election Defense Fund website that asks them to sign up for recurring donations to protect the results and keep fighting even after Election Day.
The fine print makes clear most of the money will go to other priorities.
A large portion of the money goes to Save America, a Trump leadership PAC, or political action committee, set up on Monday, and the Republican National Committee . Under Federal Election Commission rules, both groups have broad leeway in how they can use the funds.
The Trump campaign, the RNC and Trumps new Save America PAC did not respond to requests for comment.

Failure To Maintain Proper Governance
In a June 2018 petition filed by the office of the New York attorney general, it was explained that:
“… none of the Foundation’s expenditures or activities were approved by its Board of Directors. The investigation found that the Board existed in name only: it did not meet after 1999 it did not set policy or criteria for choosing grant recipients, and it did not approve of any grants. Mr. Trump alone made all decisions related to the Foundation.
In an exhibit attached to the filing, Trump Foundation treasurer Allen Weisselberg claimed he had not been aware that he was the treasurer or on the board of the foundation until he was approached by investigators.

Trump And The Truth: His Charitable Giving
This essay is part of a series The New Yorker will be running through the election titled Trump and the Truth.
Donald Trump is a rich maneven if just how rich remains an open questionand he and his campaign have long insisted that he is also a very charitable fellow. Ive given millions away, Trump said in May. The sentiment was reiterated this week by Jason Miller, his campaign spokesperson. Mr. Trump is generous both with his money and with his time, Miller said, in a statement reacting to the latest Washington Post reporting on Trumps charitable foundation. He has provided millions of dollars to fund his Foundation and a multitude of other charitable causes.
How many millions of dollars? People around Trump have answered that question in a number of ways. A couple of weeks ago, Mike Pence, Trumps running mate, said that anyone who knows about Donald Trump and his career knows that this is a man whos given away tens of millions of dollars to charitable causes throughout his business life. In July, Trumps son Eric said his father had given away millions and millions and millions of dollars. Last year, on the same day that Trump officially launched his Presidential bid, his campaign provided a specific number: a summary of net worth document made public that day stated that Trump had given away $102 million between 2009 and 2014.
Investigation By New York State Attorney General’s Office
Initial investigations and notice of violation
On September 13, 2016, New York State attorney generalEric Schneiderman announced that his office was investigating the foundation “to make sure it’s complying with the laws governing charities in New York.” The office had previously filed chargesat that time awaiting trialagainst the Trump Organization’s Trump University. Jason Miller, a Trump campaign spokesman, responded to the announcement by labeling Schneiderman a “partisan hack”. Schneiderman has endorsed Hillary Clinton and was identified as a member of her “New York leadership council” in October 2015.
On September 30, 2016, the attorney general’s office issued a “Notice of Violation” to the Trump Foundation, ordering it to immediately stop all fundraising in New York and to file its registration and all required past audits within 15 days, or risk being “deemed to be a continuing fraud on the people of the State of New York”. Under the law, the foundation may eventually be required to return all donations it had solicited since inception. The notice said the foundation has not complied with New York law because it had failed to re-register in New York State as a “7A level charitable organization”, as required for charities that solicit $25,000 or more a year from outside donors. The Trump Foundation had been registered in New York under the state’s Estates, Powers and Trusts Law with a designation intended for self-funded private foundations.
