Describe Briefly Your Position On How To Balance The 2nd Amendment And Gun Safety

The 14th District understands that the Constitution protects the right and freedom to gun ownership. In Congress, I pledge to protect the 2nd Amendment at every opportunity that Im presented. With that said, I firmly care about safety, specifically the safety of young children in relation to gun violence. My solution to reducing gun violence is to establish better care for mental health, which starts with recognizing the negative impacts of poor mental health in communities. I will work to find a solution that keeps children safe when they go to school each day, while protecting the 2nd Amendment that rightly secures gun ownership for law abiding citizens.

Th Congressional District Endorsement: James Marter

There are seven candidates running for the Republican nomination in Illinois 14th Congressional District during this months Primary Election. The winner of this contest will face off against freshman Congresswoman Lauren Underwood in the General Election on November 2nd. This district has been historically red and supported Donald J. Trump in 2016 by a wide margin. Many pundits believe that Underwoods election in 2018 was made possible by the Trump backlash. Whatever caused the anomaly in the last election, the district is in play in this election.

Of the seven Republican candidates running for this federal office, it is interesting to note that three candidates didnt bother to respond to the Illinois Family Institute Voter Guide questionnaire. For Christian conservatives, that is a major red flag. What are they hiding? What dont they want us to know about their political ideology? Why wouldnt they want pro-life/pro-family voters to have a better understanding of where they stand on the issues near and dear to our hearts?

The other four candidates look fairly conservative, and three of them qualify two or more of their answers to eight simple questions. That is why one candidate stands out in the pack: James Marter. He does not qualify his answers to the IFI Voter Guide survey. Rather, he gave straightforward conservative answers to the questions, leaving voters with little doubt on what policies he supports and/or opposes.

Yes, I am a newcomer, but that allows me to provide the fresh and honest perspective needed to get things done. The D.C. swamp is still prevalent and I believe that my background as a small business owner, musician, and artist brings the fresh perspective needed in the next Congress. The 14th District needs a Representative who is service minded and truly cares about making a difference. Ive always been a problem solver and this isnt the first time Ive been a newcomer. When I first started my music school there were many other schools nearby. I had entered into an extremely competitive market, but through my hard work and dedication I am happy to share that I own one of the largest schools of music in the region. Similarly, I will fight to bring back consertive values into the halls of Congress as your next Representative.

What Measures If Any To Combat Climate Change Do You Support

I support a healthy and clean environment. We cannot deny that many great cities are dealing with rising sea levels, which must be addressed. I support common sense problem solving, which I believe is needed to address the environmental issues we are facing. Too often climate change is a partisan issue, so my goal is find a bipartisan solution that doesnt shackle our free economy with cumbersome regulations.

Why should I care? Rush and Davis are both established pols who grew out of the civil rights movement and went on to have decades-long careers in the rough-and-tumble world of Chicago politics. While its unclear whether theyre in danger of losing their seats, their challengers are sparking a discussion about whether its time for a new generation of political leaders to take over.

What do I need to know? Rush was first elected to Congress in 1992 and is a former founder of the Illinois Black Panther Party. Hes survived multiple electoral challenges, a congressional ethics investigation and cancer. He represents one of the relatively few predominantly African American congressional districts in the country, but theres concern the recent exodus from the South Side could change that.

A Chicago alderperson, Villegas says he will push to invest in the technology sector to encourage job growth in the United States. In the next Congress, I would work to reform the system by opening competition while ensuring further protection for Americans with pre-existing conditions. My plan would allow American patients to dictate the coverage and care they need.

Defending America must be the number one priority for U.S. relations in world affairs. American safety starts by recognizing that terrorist organizations and regimes like ISIS, Haram, & the current Iranian government have evil intentions, which is further than many leftist politicians are willing to acknowledge. The U.S. is blessed to have the most powerful military force in the world and with this power comes the responsibility to protect America and our allies, and play a positive role in the world. The U.S. has the ability, when able, to act swiftly to remove high-level terrorist threats, which is why I agree with President Trumps action to take out Qasem Soleimani.

Whats the deal? This once-Republican stronghold turned blue in 2018, and the GOP would like it back. But first, Republicans have to decide who has the best chance to unseat freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Sean Casten. The choices: former Illinois state Rep. Jeanne Ives or surgeon Gordon Jay Kinzler.

Why should I care? Because the general election in November between Casten and whoever wins the GOP primary March 17 is expected to be pretty competitive. Before Casten won, this seat was in Republican hands for decades mostly held by anti-abortion stalwart Henry Hyde.

What do I need to know? The C-shaped district covers dozens of Chicago suburbs including Downers Grove, Wheaton, Algonquin and Palatine. Its gotten more diverse recently, though its still overwhelmingly white and affluent.

Ives is a familiar face. She represented parts of the district in the Illinois legislature from 2012 to 2018. She also challenged former Gov. Bruce Rauner in 2018 and almost became the partys candidate in the gubernatorial race against now-Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker.

Five of the seven candidates running for Illinois 14th Congressional District seat including Democratic incumbent Lauren Underwood of Naperville are facing petition objections that could cost them spots on the June 28 primary ballot.

In addition to Underwoods, the petitions of Republicans Scott Gryder of Oswego, Mike Koolidge of Rochelle, Jack Lombardi of Manhattan and Susan Starrett of North Aurora have been challenged.

The nominating petitions of 14th District GOP hopefuls Jaime Milton of Fox River Grove and James Marter of Oswego were not challenged by Mondays deadline.

The cases will be heard by electoral boards selected by the Illinois State Board of Elections. If a petition objection is upheld, a candidate can be disqualified from running for a political party nomination.

Underwoods petition was targeted by Tonia LaRue of Yorkville. LaRue claims Underwoods statement of candidacy inaccurately described the office being sought, according to an elections board spokesman.

However, a copy of Underwoods candidacy statement acquired by the Daily Herald indicates shes seeking the Democratic nomination in the 14th Congressional District.

A different Yorkville resident, David A. Guss, objected to Gryders, Lombardis and Starretts petitions.

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene Wins Georgia Primary

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene defeated five challengers Tuesday in a GOP primary race that tested how her conservative Georgia constituents judged her turbulent freshman term.

Greene, 47, became a celebrity of the Republican Partys far-right fringe with her election two years ago as she embraced former President Donald Trumps false claim that the 2020 election was stolen, and engaged in conspiracy theories about the coronavirus.

Greene spoke at an event organized by a white nationalist where the crowd chanted Putin! after Russias invasion of Ukraine and launched other partisan attacks that critics said promoted racism and violence.

She will face the winner of a three-way Democratic primary in northwest Georgias 14th District, a seat drawn to give Republicans a huge advantage, in November.

Greene remained on the primary ballot Tuesday in Georgias 14th Congressional District after a failed effort to disqualify her by opposing voters. They argued Greene engaged in insurrection by encouraging the Jan. 6, 2021, riot that disrupted Congress certification of Joe Bidens presidential victory. Georgias secretary of state and an administrative law judge dismissed the claims.

Still, fellow Republicans refused to give Greene a free ride to reelection. Though her first term won loyal followers, it left others in the GOP embarrassed.

Whats the deal? For the first time in 20 years, the race for Cook County Circuit Court clerk is wide open as longtime clerk Dorothy Brown retires. The Democrats who want to replace her: former Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin county property tax official Michael Cabonargi state Sen. Iris Martinez and attorney Jacob Meister. Whoever wins faces Barbara Bellar, the lone Republican in the race, come November.

Why should I care? If you ever go to court in Cook County even for a traffic ticket this office will affect your life. Despite its wonky-sounding name, the court clerk has a hugely important job: organizing case files and documents for one of the largest local court systems in America. And even though its 2020, many of those files are still on paper instead of, ya know, computers. The next person to do this job will be tasked with ushering the system further into the 20th century.

What do I need to know? The Democratic primary will likely be the deciding election for this seat in heavily Democratic Cook County. All the candidates agree that digitizing more court records is a top priority, as is cleaning up an office thats long had a reputation for corruption and patronage under Brown . They also say they want to make some documents subject to the states open records law, and end the practice of hiring private debt collection agencies to chase people who cant afford their court fines and fees.
