Donald Trump’s ‘communications’ Platform Permanently Taken Offline

Donald Trump’s communications platform has been permanently shut down, his spokesperson told CNBC.

“It was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on,” senior aide Jason Miller said.

The platform, titled From the Desk of Donald J Trump, launched last month and served as a way for the former president to publish his own content including press releases and videos.

Mr Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter after the Capitol Hill Riots.

From the Desk of Donald J Trump had a section on the former president’s official website, but it has now been removed. Mr Miller confirmed via Twitter that it is a precursor to Mr Trump’s return to social media, although it is unclear when or how.

Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!

Jason Miller

The website – which was often referred to as a blog – had a rolling feed of Mr Trump’s various posts and gave visitors the option to “like” the post and share it to Facebook and Twitter.

The link to the website now directs visitors to a page encouraging them to sign up for alerts from Donald Trump.

In March, Mr Miller told Fox News he thinks “we’re going to see President Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months” and “with his own platform”.

Mr Trump’s own platform has been talked about since early this year, but it is unclear what it might look like.

Is This Really The Suppression Of Political Speech

A lot of these systems are flagged automatically or occur when customer complaints come in, so thats a hard case to make. Theres no evidence that the carriers or their partners are flagging and blocking these messages for reasons other than preventing spam.

The telecom companies are also far more reserved when it comes to staking out a political position, with the carriers previously having praised Trump for his large corporate tax cut in 2017.

When it comes to combatting spam, the motivation is primarily driven by the need to eliminate something most people find annoying.

What Are His Followers And Supporters Saying

Immediately after the Twitter ban, backers such as Angela Stanton-King, a Republican supporter of the QAnon conspiracy group who ran in November to represent Georgias 5th Congressional District, and Republican Representative Thomas Massie began sharing their Parler accounts on Twitter, encouraging followers to move there.

Others such as conservative media host Rush Limbaugh deactivated their Twitter accounts.

Numerous Republican lawmakers denounced the social media company decisions as an attempt to stifle conservative voices and argued the moves would further polarize the country.

Were now living in a country where four or five companies – unelected, unaccountable – have the power, a monopoly power to decide, were going to wipe people out, were going to just erase them from any sort of digital platform, Senator Marco Rubio said on Fox News.

Some liberal free-speech activists were uncomfortable with the moves too. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group, defended the right of Twitter and others to curate their platforms, but called for more transparency and consistency in decision making.

The American Civil Liberties Union said it should concern everyone when companies like Facebook and Twitter wield the unchecked power to remove people from platforms that have become indispensable for the speech of billions.

Trumps platform, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, features videos from the former president and statements from his leadership PAC, which have been sent out over email for several weeks.

Supporters can sign up to get notified when Trump sends out a message from his site, similar to functions on other social media platforms.

While users do not have the ability to reply to Trumps posts, they can like them and share them on their own Twitter or Facebook accounts.

This is just a one-way communication, one source familiar with the space told Fox News, which was the first to report on the platform. This system allows Trump to communicate with his followers.

The websites About page also includes a statement touting Trumps administration and a slew of mission statements, including We are committed to defending innocent life and to upholding the Judeo-Christian values of our founding and We believe in FREE SPEECH and Fair Elections. Trumps Existential Threat: How To Keep Gop In Line Without Twitter

The president has used Twitter to punish perceived disloyalty within his party. Now he’s lost his favorite tool at a defining moment.

Donald Trump was meeting then-campaign manager Brad Parscale and other political aides in the White House Cabinet Room early last year when the president made a demand: Find me a social media platform to use other than Twitter.

Someone in the meeting had piped up with concern that Twitter Trumps primary outlet for communicating with his supporters and the outside world might eventually ban him over controversial posts. The Trump team mobilized after the meeting, with Parscale starting discussions about whether to have the president take up a major presence on the Trump-friendly platform Parler, posting messages there first in order to drive more users to the platform.

No question that Twitter was the presidents megaphone to his supporters and the media. In fact, without Twitter, he may not have been elected in 2016, said Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio, who worked on the presidents 2016 and 2020 campaigns. While I am sure he will find other means to communicate with his core loyalists, losing the ability to communicate to 88 million people all at once will definitely diminish his reach post-Jan. 20.

Jay Inslee Endorses Biden For President

WASHINGTON Washington Gov. and former 2020 presidential candidate Jay Inslee endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday in a special Earth Day edition of Bidens Heres the Deal podcast.

Youre going to have a concrete plan for action within the next 10 years to develop a clean energy plan, so we just dont plan to 2050. I know that you have efforts to really do things in the next 10 years and Im very excited about this, Inslee said.

Notably, Inslee endorsed Bidens climate change plan even though many green groups and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders have been critical of it. Specifically, groups have argued that Bidens goal of reducing carbon emissions by 2050 instead of 2030 doesnt go far enough.

Inslee, who focused most of his presidential bid on climate change, ended his campaign in August. He has since been back in the national spotlight due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Seattle area saw one of the countrys first major outbreaks and has over 12,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Inslee has been applauded for issuing an early stay-at-home order. On Tuesday, Inslee said he wouldnt be lifting the movement restrictions by May 4, when the current stay-at-home order was supposed to be lifted.

I know that you have a willingness to follow science and really help us get us out of the COVID-19 crisis. Youre going to bring a reasoned approach to that rather than just ignoring doctors. Youre going to follow their advice, Inslee said.

Trumps Foreign Policy Moments

Donald J. Trumps presidency marked a profound departure from U.S. leadership in areas such as trade and diplomacy, as well as an across-the-board toughening of immigration policies.

In his inaugural address, President Donald J. Trump announces an America First approach to foreign policy and trade, which centers on reducing U.S. trade deficits and rebalancing burden sharing within alliances. Trump promises to unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism and emphasizes that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.

Trump directs the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a twelve-country, Asia-focused trade agreement the United States had championed under the Barack Obama administration.

The president signs an executive order banning nationals of six Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States for ninety days. The order, later amended to include an additional two countries, also indefinitely freezes refugee intake from Syria. Days later, a federal judge in Washington State blocks part of the order, beginning a series of judicial challenges. That same week, Trump signs two other executive orders concerning immigration. One directs federal funds to the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and the other bars so-called sanctuary cities from receiving federal grants.

Less than four months after former President Donald J. Trump left office, the general counsel of the National Archives reached out to three lawyers who had worked with Mr. Trump to convey a firm message: The archives had determined that more than two dozen boxes of Mr. Trumps presidential records were missing, and it needed the lawyers immediate assistance to retrieve them, according to an email obtained by The New York Times.

The email, sent on May 6, 2021, by the top lawyer at the archives, Gary M. Stern, was an early sign of tension between Mr. Trump and the federal agency responsible for safeguarding presidential records. It presaged the battle that would later erupt over the former presidents removal of scores of highly sensitive documents from the White House.

On Tuesday, the archives released a separate letter, indicating that Mr. Trump had taken more than 700 pages of classified materials when he left Washington. Among them, the letter said, were some related to Special Access Programs, which are among the countrys most secretive intelligence operations.

Gingrich: Best Ways To Send A Message To Trump Are Through Fox & Friends And Hannity

Occasionally, wed talk on Seans show knowing Trump was watching, Gingrich told The New York Times, referring to Sean Hannity

The two most effective ways of communicating with Trump are Fox & Friends and Hannity, Gingrich added.

Trump this year has repeatedly praised Fox & Friends, which recently announced that it would expand its weekday programming to five hours.

Gingrich in his interview with the newspaper praised Hannitys show as a successful way to communicate with Americans.

There are very few people who have a better understanding of the broad base, a better intuitive understanding of the kind of folks who elected Trump. He at least matches or surpasses Rush in that understanding, Gingrich told the newspaper of Hannity.

The president recently sparked controversy by saying Fox News is much more important than its rival network, CNN.

Fox News is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them! Trump said in a tweet last week.

Ivanka Trump Used A Personal Email Account To Send Hundreds Of Emails About Government Business Last Year

Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence.

White House ethics officials learned of Trumps repeated use of personal email when reviewing emails gathered last fall by five Cabinet agencies to respond to a public records lawsuit. That review revealed that throughout much of 2017, she often discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner.

The discovery alarmed some advisers to President Trump, who feared that his daughters practices bore similarities to the personal email use of Hillary Clinton, an issue he made a focus of his 2016 campaign. He attacked his Democratic challenger as untrustworthy and dubbed her Crooked Hillary for using a personal email account as secretary of state.

Some aides were startled by the volume of Ivanka Trumps personal emails and taken aback by her response when questioned about the practice. She said she was not familiar with some details of the rules, according to people with knowledge of her reaction.

The White House referred requests for comment to Ivanka Trumps attorney and ethics counsel, Abbe Lowell.

Donald Trump Really Wants You To Text His Name To 88022 But Will He Ever Text Back

At Donald Trump rallies and news conferences, the invocation is very often printed in the cameras lines of sight to ensure maximum exposure:

Text Trump to 88022

If you assumed this is a fundraising ploy, youd be wrong. The Republican presidential front-runner is self-funding his campaign, remember?

Instead of money, Trump ostensibly wants a channel to communicate directly with voters. His website advertises exclusive updates for those who subscribe to the texting service.

One problem: Trump doesnt seem to use the service very often.

Two weeks ago, on the day of the Wisconsin primary, I signed up and prepared for The Donald to Make My iPhone Great Again with the exclusive updates I had been promised. Heres how it went.

And then nothing for 14 days.

Last week, Fix colleague Philip Bump had the good idea to subscribe using a New York ZIP code to see whether the Trump campaign might be targeting residents of the Empire State ahead of the primary. He got nothing for five days.

Finally, on primary day Tuesday, the first exclusive updates arrived.

Later, after I asked the campaign about its use or underuse of the text line, both Bump and I received this message.

What. A. Waste.

Maybe, in another message, Trump could ask subscribers to name the No. 1 issue in the campaign: Text A for immigration, B for terrorism, C for trade, D for gun rights.

Heres what Buell recommends:
