In short, no. According to Elizabeth Simas, a political science professor at the University of Houston who spoke about this with Texas Standard, cases of strategic voting dont happen much in primary elections. Certainly, there are people who do it but we just dont see it happening as much as theres potentially this fear for it to happen, Simas said.
In areas dominated by one party, especially rural areas, voters might cross party lines in the primary to have more of a say in their local races.
In my county, all the local races are Republican. Judges, sheriff, district attorney, Martha Mims, a Democratic voter who lives Williamson County, wrote in The Texas Tribunes Facebook group, This is Your Texas. If I want to have a say in local government, I have to vote in the Republican primary.

Lets say this straight out, so there is no chance of any misinterpretation whatsoever: It is impossible for any sane, rational, level-headed person to consciously support the Democratic ticket in 2020. On every single issue, right down the line, the Republicans offer a better solution and their path of governance delivers a superior quality of life to every American. It is provable, unarguable and unequivocal.

Many times, a partys actual policy stance runs directly counter to that voters personal interests , but they vote for them anyway, because of a lifelong emotional attachment.
So it is with President Trump. He engenders such a strong emotional response that a segment of the voting populace will never support him, both because of his mercurial personality and his identification as a Republican. Even if his actual policies benefit them directly, they will not vote for him, ever.

Can I Vote In The Primaries
Choosing the person who could be chosen to leadPrimaries are an important part of the democratic process, but certain states have laws around who is eligible to vote in them, often around voters registered political parties.
What are the primaries?
Primaries are elections that allow political parties to determine the candidate who will go on to represent them in later elections.
These can happen at any level, but get the most attention in the two years ahead of a Presidential election, when voters determine which candidates will represent the Democratic and Republican parties in the main election in November.
Open vs. Closed Primaries
Open Primaries allow any registered voter to pick the candidate that will represent their party as the nominee in the upcoming election.
Closed Primaries require that the voter only pick the candidate from the voters registered party. For example, a voter registered as a Republican could only pick their choice for the Republican nominee.
Some states allow voters registered as independents to align themselves with a party on the day of the Primary Election so they may vote for a party candidate of their choosing.

When Is The Deadline To Register
The deadline for voting in Pennsylvania is today.
Some states allow same-day registration and others require you to register months in advance of the primary. In Pennsylvania, the deadline to register to vote is today, Monday, March 28.
You can register to vote online here, in person at your county voter registration office, or by mail to your county voter registration office You can download a blank voter registration form to mail or drop off in person here.
For some reason, the site for registering to vote online currently reads: The last day to register before the 2016 GENERAL PRIMARY was 03/28/2016. Any application submitted now until 04/26/2016 will be held and processed the day after the 2016 GENERAL PRIMARY. If you are registering for the first time and are not already registered to vote, you will not be able to vote in the 2016 GENERAL PRIMARY. You Should Bring An Id With You And Proof Of Residency If You’ve Recently Moved
Registered Iowa voters must bring ID with them when they go to vote at the polls. Acceptable forms of identification are an Iowa driver’s license or a non-operator ID, a U.S. passport or military ID, a veteran’s ID, tribal ID or an Iowa voter ID card.
In some instances, you may need to prove your residency as well. Bring proof of residency if you are either voting in Iowa for the first time or if you’ve recently moved within the same county and have not updated your address with the auditor. If you have moved to a different county between elections, you will need to complete the election day registration day process at your precinct.
If someone can’t prove their identity with any of those documents, a registered voter in their precinct can attest to who they are. Both the voter and the attester will need to sign an oath. Falsely attesting or being attested for is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Kristi Noem Projected To Win Gop Nomination For South Dakota Governor
Incumbent South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem is projected to win the Republican nomination, according to the Associated Press. Polls had shown Noem, who is seeking a second term, with a significant edge in the race over state Rep. Steve Haugaard, the former state House speaker.
Noem, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, has the backing of former president Donald Trump and enjoys broad support among the conservative base. She was among the speakers at last months National Rifle Association convention in Houston, where she rallied attendees by opposing calls from Democrats to tighten gun laws after the recent mass shootings in Uvalde, Tex., and Buffalo.
But Noem has faced scrutiny over her actions during her term as governor. A state legislative probe found that Noems daughter received preferential treatment while applying for her real estate appraiser license two years ago. Democrats have pointed to the incident as an alleged abuse of power.
Separately, a prominent Trump donor, Trashelle Odom, last year accused a former top Noem adviser, Corey Lewandowski, of repeatedly groping her and making unwanted sexual comments at a charity event in Las Vegas. Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign manager, denied the accusations.
Noem has also dismissed a conservative media outlets claim that she was having an extramarital affair with Lewandowski, saying in a statement at the time, These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie.
When California And San Francisco Election Returns Will Start Coming In:
Polls in California close at 8 p.m., and we expect some data to begin populating these pages at that time. At 8:45pm the first batch of official San Francisco election results will come in, which includes mail-in ballots received by the Department of Elections prior to Election Day. Most of the ballots that are cast or received on Election Day are counted in the days after the election. South Carolinas Open Democratic Primary Means Republicans Can Vote Too

The South Carolina Republican Party announced in September that it would join a list of other states that would not hold a presidential primary this year. Now, some South Carolina Republicans and Tea Party activists are encouraging Republican voters to participate in Saturdays contest. Karen Martin, organizer of the Spartanburg Tea Party, is leading Trump 229 , an effort thats using social media and word-of-mouth to encourage Republicans to vote for Bernie Sanders on Saturday.
Joe Biden has been leading the race in South Carolina. Martin said that her small group was hoping to win enough support for Sanders to bump him into first place, above Joe Biden, who has been holding onto a shrinking lead in the state.

Are Primaries Similar Throughout The States
No. There are three types of primaries used by states closed, open or mixed. In a closed primary, you can only vote for a party that you are registered with. This means a registered Democrat can only vote in the Democratic Primary and a Republican-only in the Republican Primary. Independents and unregistered voters are unable to vote in closed primaries.

Republican Lawmaker Urges Top Senate Democrat To Give Gun Talks Time
WASHINGTON – Senator John Cornyn, the leading Republican in talks aimed at ironing out bipartisan legislation to address a plague of U.S. mass shootings, urged the top Senate Democrat on Monday to give negotiators sufficient time to either reach a deal or fail.
Cornyn and other lawmakers, Democrats and Republicans, were due to meet on Monday and hope to reach an agreement on gun legislation by the end of the week, after a wave of mass shootings in Buffalo, New York Uvalde, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The negotiations have the approval of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnell. But Republicans are concerned that Schumer could soon make good on his pledge to begin voting on Democratic gun legislation if the talks appear to be fruitless.
“I hope the Democratic leader will allow bipartisan discussions to continue and then conclude before he pulls the plug and schedules show votes on something he knows can’t pass,” Cornyn said in a floor speech.
“Good consensus legislation takes time,” the Texas Republican added. “The only way we can get a bill that can pass both chambers and earn the president’s signature is by taking the time and reaching that consensus.”
Schumer’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The negotiations have raised hopes of a rare bipartisan agreement on gun-related issues in Congress, which is characteristically paralyzed by partisan rancor on the issue.
