Who Is Truth Social For

Donald Trump Launches New Website In Response to Twitter & Facebook Ban

Do you belong on Truth Social? If you have to ask, the answer is probably no. This platform was not intended as a replacement for mainstream services like Twitter or Facebook. Rather, it’s another social media platform designed to fight against a perceived “woke culture” and less about content moderation or accessibility.

Similar platforms have popped up over the years in an attempt to attract the attention of alt-right, far-right, extremist, and fringe groups. These spacessuch as Gab, Parler, and Telegramhave courted the right to varying degrees of success, and failure, as hate speech proliferated. Even Trump’s former political advisor, Jason Miller, created his own right-wing social platform called Gettr back when Truth Social was just a rumor, but it has its own problems. Truth Social has formally partnered with Rumble, a video platform popular with the far right.

In an initial statement about his platform, Trump said Truth Social will have no “shadow-banning, throttling, demonetizing, or messing with algorithms for political manipulation, which can be read as a reference to the de-platforming that has happened to many alt-right figures on mainstream social media sites over the years.

We will not silence our fellow citizens simply because they might be wrongor worse, because we think that Americans cant handle the truth, Trump said. Notably, though, the site’s terms of service says your account can be suspended if you make fun of the platform.

Will Donald Trump Run For President Again In 2024

Trump has dropped hints about running for President again in 2024.

After the news broke that for at least two years, he released a statement implying his return to the presidency.

He said: Next time Im in the White House there will be no more dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will be all business!

Without giving too much away, Trump has named a number of strong Republican contenders for the 2024 bid, excluding his former presidential right-hand Mike Pence.

Constitutionally, Trump can launch a second White House bid after losing in 2020 – his team has previously hinted that he could seek another term in 2024.

The 22nd Amendment states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.”

Why Did Mastodon Threaten To Sue Truth Social

This is what Mastodon looks like

Truth Social is based on Mastodon, and that’s perfectly acceptable. Mastodon’s open-source license allows developers to use, modify, and distribute their software as they see fit. However, those who use that licenseGNU Affero General Public License v3.0 must disclose that their project is based on Mastodon. They must also make the code, and any modifications publicly available for anyone to download.

Nothing But The Truth

The unfounded notion that Democrats stole the presidency from the Republicans in 2020 should take pride of place on the billionaire’s new platform.

It has already attracted many supporters, some of which are convinced there was electoral fraud during the last US election.

It is on this base of supporters that the former president is expected to at least consider launching a new campaign in 2024, with a view to a return to the White House. It’s still hotly debated whether he will or not.

To date, Trump has only outlined his intentions of returning to power, without ever confirming them. But thats not the only purpose for Truth Social.

After conducting a business plan overview and sharing it openly, TMTG said in October that it will be offering videos on demand, and consequently become a direct competitor to Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

The British news site The Guardian analysed TMTGs ambitions by paying attention not only to the graphic skills, but also the lack of logic behind the slides.

“Their current approach to quantifying the media companys potential audience seems to be more art than science,” the newspaper wrote.

“In one slide they look at how many people listen to podcasts and watch Netflix from there they extrapolate that TMTG can get potentially hundreds of millions of users”.

As for the economic plan, TMTG is to merge with Digital World Acquisition Corp in order to be listed, the statement said.

FixerRoy Cohn served as Trump’s lawyer and mentor for 13 years in the 1970s and 1980s. According to Trump, Cohn sometimes waived fees due to their friendship. In 1973, Cohn helped Trump countersue the United States government for $100 million over its charges that Trump’s properties had racial discriminatory practices. Trump and Cohn lost that case when the countersuit was dismissed and the government’s case went forward. In 1975, an agreement was struck requiring Trump’s properties to furnish the New York Urban League with a list of all apartment vacancies, every week for two years, among other things. Cohn introduced political consultant Roger Stone to Trump, who enlisted Stone’s services to deal with the federal government.

As of November 2016, Trump and his businesses had been involved in more than 4,000 state and federal legal actions, according to a running tally by USA Today.

While Trump has not filed for personal bankruptcy, his over-leveraged hotel and casino businesses in Atlantic City and New York filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection six times between 1991 and 2009. They continued to operate while the banks restructured debt and reduced Trump’s shares in the properties.

Early Career And Congressional Campaigns

After graduating from law school in 1986, Pence was an attorney in private practice. In 1988, Pence ran for Congress against incumbent , but lost. He ran against Sharp again in 1990, quitting his job in order to work full-time in the campaign, but once again was unsuccessful. During the race, Pence used “political donations to pay the mortgage on his house, his personal credit card bill, groceries, golf tournament fees and car payments for his wife”. While the spending was not illegal at the time, it reportedly undermined his campaign.

During the 1990 campaign, Pence ran a television advertisement in which an actor, dressed in a robe and headdress and speaking in a thick Middle Eastern accent, thanked his opponent, Sharp, for doing nothing to wean the United States off imported oil as chairman of a House subcommittee on energy and power. In response to criticism, Pence’s campaign responded that the advertisement was not about Arabs rather, it concerned Sharp’s lack of leadership. In 1991, Pence wrote an essay, “Confessions of a Negative Campaigner”, published in the Indiana Policy Review, in which he apologized for running negative ads against Sharp. Pence vowed to refrain from using insulting speech or running ads that belittle his adversaries. Also taking place in 1991, he became the president of the , a self-described and a member of the , a position he held until 1993.

Who Runs Truth Social

There are two entities behind Truth Social. The first is Trump Media & Technology Group , which was formed in February 2021 by Donald Trump. The company also uses the name T Media Tech LLC in some places. As of January 2022, former US Rep. Devin Nunes serves as the organization’s CEO.

The other company involved is Digital World Acquisition Corp. , a publicly traded SPAC founded by Miami banker Patrick Orlando. The two entities have entered into a merger agreement in order to make TMTG a publicly traded company. However, the combined entity has been under SEC investigation for potentially skirting securities laws.

The plan for TMTG, as a publicly traded company, would be to offer alternatives to mainstream media and social networks. Aside from Truth Social, the company is also working to launch a news network called TMTG News and a video-streaming service known as TMTG+. All three of these products will center on conservative viewership.

Truth Social, a new social media platform from former President Donald Trump, launches Monday, almost a year after tech giants Twitter, Facebook and YouTube stripped Trump of his favorite megaphones and accused him of glorifying and inciting violence that threatened democracy when he repeated false claims that the 2020 election was rigged and praised the mob attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump, whose misleading posts on the COVID-19 pandemic and false assertions of widespread election fraud led to unprecedented fact-checking flags and warnings from social media networks, has been posting frequent statements through his political action committee, endorsing Republican candidates who question the 2020 election results and insisting that investigations into his presidency and business are nothing more than politicized hoaxes.

Claiming that tech leaders stifled free speech and undercut Trump and his followers voices, the former president previously launched a website last year, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, but users could not interact and it failed to gain traction. The site shut down after about a month.

Truth Social, run by Trump Media & Technology Group, was announced in October.

A company executive recently told users during a beta test phase that the app launch was coming Monday, according to Reuters.

Crime And Illegal Drugs

Pence has questioned proposals to decrease penalties for low-level offenses in Indiana, saying the state should focus on “reducing crime, not reducing penalties”. In 2013, Pence expressed concern that a then-pending bill to revise the state’s criminal code was not tough enough on drug crimes, and successfully lobbied to limit the reduction in sentencing of marijuana offenses.

In 2016, he signed into law a measure that would reinstate a ten-year prison sentence for certain drug offenders.

During 2014, Pence sent a letter to United States attorney general , saying Indiana would not comply with because they were “too expensive”. According to the Indiana Department of Corrections, it would cost the state $1520 million annually to comply with the guidelines. Pence said a number of rape prevention measures had already been “implemented”.

In 2015, Pence signed Senate Bill 94 to lengthen the statute of limitations for rapecontinuing for five years after sufficient DNA evidence is uncovered, enough recorded evidence is brought forth or discovered, or the offender confesses to the crime. Pence also signed Senate Bill 8 to allow the death penalty for beheadings if the victim was alive at the time of the offense.

Relationship With The Press

Trump began promoting himself in the press in the 1970s, and continued to seek media attention throughout his career, sustaining a “lovehate” relationship with the press. In the 2016 campaign, Trump benefited from a record amount of free media coverage, elevating his standing in the Republican primaries. The New York Times writer Amy Chozick wrote in 2018 that Trump’s media dominance enthralled the public and created “must-see TV.”

As a candidate and as president, Trump frequently accused the press of bias, calling it the “fake news media” and “the enemy of the people“. In 2018, journalist Lesley Stahl recounted Trump’s saying he intentionally demeaned and discredited the media “so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you”.

As president, Trump privately and publicly mused about revoking the press credentials of journalists he viewed as critical. His administration moved to revoke the press passes of two White House reporters, which were restored by the courts. In 2019, a member of the foreign press reported many of the same concerns as those of media in the U.S., expressing concern that a normalization process by reporters and media results in an inaccurate characterization of Trump. The Trump White House held about a hundred formal press briefings in 2017, declining by half during 2018 and to two in 2019.

Donald Trump: Who He Is and What He Stands For

This is what Truth Social looks like

Truth Social bears more than a passing resemblance to Twitter, but that’s not just because Twitter was Trump’s platform of choice. Truth Social was created using an open-source license from Mastodon, which itself was initially created as an alternative to Twitter.

After a test version of Truth Social was released in October 2021, it was determined that Truth Social simply used a recolored version of Mastodon’s 3.0 theme. Most of the service’s functionality is identical to Twitter. Instead of Likes, they are called Truths instead of retweets, they are Re-Truths. The news feed is called the Truth feed, and so on.

Donald Trumps Truth Social Finally Works On The Web Yes Its Terrible

AUSTIN, TEXAS – MAY 14: Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during the American Freedom Tour … at the Austin Convention Center on May 14, 2022 in Austin, Texas. The national event gathered conservatives from around the country to defend, empower and help promote conservative agendas nationwide.

The more I use Truth Social, the more I realize its a terrible Twitter clone.

Case in point just try using the new web version.

Recently, the service finally launched as more than a mere landing page to register for an account. Like you could with Twitter.com more than a decade ago, it is now possible to send your truths out to the masses all 500,000 of them from a browser tab.

On the web, TruthSocial.com now lets you search for truths and participate in the online discourse without a phone, even if its all quite basic. Other than calling tweets truths instead, theres nothing particularly novel or interesting about the platform.

You can also configure alerts, view your profile, and adjust a few settings. For example, you can change whether GIFs play automatically in your feed and hide sensitive material. The web interface allows you to mute and block other users, or tag them easily when you post. The web version doesnt appear to offer a way to see direct messages, though.

Apart from using the word truths the real issue is that this is a clone, and that means theres no real reason to switch from Twitter to this app.

Pence has criticized . Pence called Powell’s comments a “sad day” and expressed his support for . He asserted that “condoms are a very, very poor protection against sexually transmitted diseases” and that Powell was “maybe inadvertently misleading millions of young people and endangering lives” despite the CDC assessment that when properly used they offer effective protection against STDs.

Pence opposed President Obama’s executive order eliminating , saying, “I believe it is morally wrong to create human life to destroy it for research … I believe it is morally wrong to take the tax dollars of millions of pro-life Americans.” He asserted that “scientific breakthroughs have rendered embryonic stem-cell research obsolete.”
