Kraft A Former Athlete Needed A Supportive Shoe
Kraft’s passion for football and for the Patriots organization specifically began in his youth. After playing running back at Columbia University, Kraft, based in Massachusetts, was a 23-year New England Patriots season ticket holder before buying the team.
Kraft bought the Patriots in 1994, and it was the first year the team made the playoffs in eight seasons. Since then, the team has had 20 winning seasons, 16 division titles, eight conference championships, and five Super Bowl wins.
But all that time on his feet in dress shoes and a suit resulted in uncomfortable foot pain for the former athlete.
Kraft told Bloomberg in a 2017 interview that he was in search of relief from pain that stemmed from bone spurs from “an old football injury.”
The owner took to wearing sneakers, specifically the Nike Air Force 1, with his suits. Kraft took it one step further by reaching out to Nike for a custom pair with more support, and the company responded by developing a custom pair for him.

The Shoes Inspired Another Nike
After the success of the shoe collab with the team’s owner, Nike issued a Patriot-Nike edition of the Air Force 1s in 2017 to commemorate New England’s 25-point Super Bowl comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.
The one-of-a-kind Air Force 1 Low SB51 Comeback sneakers were made from two footballs used in Super Bowl LI. The single pair was auctioned off, and profits went to the Boys and Girls Club of Boston.

The Shoes Are The Fifth Collaboration Between Kraft And Nike And Proceeds Go To Boys And Girls Club Of Boston
Nike has partnered with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft to produce everything from special “owner’s model” sneakers to custom Lunar Force 1s over the last half-decade, and on Thursday night, the two sides unveiled their latest creation.

Red with white outlines and a navy blue Nike swoosh, this year’s shoes commemorate Kraft’s 25 years of owning the Patriots. Unveiled to the owner by Nike CEO Mark Parker at the Patriots ProShop before Thursday night’s Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts game, the sneakers came in a special shoe box constructed from old seats and benches from the team’s Foxboro Stadium, with every one of the Patriots’ 300 wins under Kraft’s ownership etched onto it.
For the fifth year, Nike has made a retail version of an Air Force 1 for Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who wears Nikes with his dress attire. This years version celebrates his 25th anniversary of ownership and will be sold tomorrow at the Patriots Pro Shop for $160.

Fans waited in line outside of the ProShop for hours before getting the chance to meet Kraft and get their own pairs of shoes.
“That was unbelievable,” Kraft told the Patriots’ official website. “People were here last night. They started lining up before 9 p.m. They’re here over 12 hours for a pair of sneakers. I guess sneakerheads are different.”

Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit Mid Multicolor 20
The New England Patriots are arguably the best football team in NFL history thanks to Tom Brady and his dominance over the last two decades. Nike will be celebrating the reigning champs once again by releasing another new colorway of the Nike Air Force 1.
This time around we see the Ultra Flyknit version of the Air Force 1 get the championship treatment as the shoe gets covered in the teams colors. A blue Flyknit upper dominates the shoe with Metallic Silver Swooshes, red flywire, and white on the laces, midsole, and mini Swoosh logos by the toe. Finishing details include special graphic insoles, a special tongue tag, and 6X Champions embroidered on the heel tab.
A release date has not been announced yet for this Patriots colorway of the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit, but make sure you keep it locked to Kicks On Fire for updates.

An Endorsement Deal Arose From Wearing Nikes
Often Kraft would show up to games and events in different versions of Nike’s Air Force 1s, including a custom bedazzled red, white, and blue version like the ones he sported during a game against the New York Jets in 2014.
“I got Mark Parker, who’s the CEO of Nike, to come and speak at an event in Boston,” Kraft told Bloomberg. “And he was amazed to see me wearing them. I had a suit on, and I was wearing Air Force 1s.”
“He said, Why don’t we make your own line?’ I said, OK,'” Kraft said.
In 2014, Nike released its first version of the Patriots-inspired Lunar Force 1, and the pair sold out in less than 10 minutes, CBS Sports reported.
Kraft’s update of Nike’s signature Air Force 1 sneaker featured the Patriots logo and his initials, “R.K.K.”
The Kraft-Nike collab sneaker sells for around $140, when available, and all proceeds from the shoes fund fitness programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, whose CEO is none other than Kraft’s son, Josh Kraft.
In 2017, the billionaire’s shoe got a sleek redesign to reflect the team’s fifth Superbowl win earlier that year. The Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit Low RKK came with five pairs of removable Velcro patches one for each Patriots championship up to that point and a note from Kraft reminding the purchaser of the charitable mission of the shoe deal.
“I’m comfortable, get a little street cred, and get some money for a great charity,” Kraft told Bloomberg of the shoe.
