Today were going to be taking a look at the B& W Patriot fifth wheel trailer hitch with slider. With an 18,000 pound capacity, the part number is BWRVK3270.Now the need for a sliding system like the Patriot is going to come up when youre trying to haul a camper with a short bed truck. Its just not feasible to navigate around with the limited maneuverability youll have before they camper wants to make contact with the cab of the truck. With the Patriot system, its able to move a full 12 from the towing position back into the maneuvering position. This is going to allow us the extra room we need from the front of the camper to the rear of our cab to help us navigate through the campsites, parking lots, things like that. When its time to haul back down the road, release that lever once again.

Theyre designed with 3/4 thick material. These are designed to really hold up for a long time and a lot of mileage without getting any kind of looseness in here.Another nice touch with the Patriot system is going to be the gray powder coat finish. Usually youll see the black. It really helps it stand out and sets it apart from other systems we see out there. B& W of course is made 100% right here in the United States with American steel, so its a good product that has a good fit and finish to it.Now when installing our Patriot, we want to drop the tabs that stick down off the bottom theyre going to have holes located in them in the appropriate slots in our rails.

Pullrite Superglide Vs B& w Patriot Slider

I’ve narrowed down my choices to the above hitches. I’ve read that with the Pullrite, you must be within 10 degrees of center to hitch. About the only place that I’m not within 10 degrees is when parking in my backyard. Is it impossible or just more difficult to unhitch at more than 10 degrees? I rarely use my Reese slider, because I just watch closely when parking and the Reese just doesn’t slide all that well anyway. I’ve only pulled my Momentum 328M once, home from the dealer and didn’t really pay attention to see how close it got to the truck cab compared to our prior 5th wheel. I’m planning on making it’s maiden voyage from Michigan to Florida coming up next month so I need to order very soon. I’m leaning towards the Pullrite if I can unhitch it without a problem. It’s a little more money up front but not worrying about damaging the truck is worth it. Both hitches are the 18K model. I also have the Reese rails in my truck already so I’ll be going with an ISR model hitch.
