Do I Need a Tow Brake?

Canada requires tow brakes with no exceptions.

Having a supplemental tow brake installed helps prolong the brake life of the coach, if the coach brakes are doing all of the work to stop the combined vehicles, they brakes will wear prematurely. The coach will brake more easily and the stopping distance will not increase due to the increased weight of the towed vehicle.

This is going to be a portable, proportional, supplemental braking system for your towed vehicle. Now, those two things, portable and proportional, are going to be the two main benefits to this particular system for your vehicle. It works for a lot of different cars out there. It’s pretty universal.

So the way that this is going to be proportional is that it’s going to sense how much pressure we’re putting on our brake in our RV. Set the force for a midway setting and drive in a low-traffic area where you can drive over 15 mph, then depress the brake. If your vehicle battery needs to be disconnected for flat towing then you need to install the 12V Outlet Kit# RM-9332to power the Patriot 3# BRK2019braking system. I also recommend installing the Charge Line Kit# RM-156-25so that you’ll have a charge running to your towed vehicle battery. 72939

The housing for the Blue Ox Patriot 3 BRK2019 itself isn’t replaceable so you’ll either need to completely replace the braking system or try to find an old used one that doesn’t work and see if you can swap the housing from that to your Patriot 3.To replace the Patriot 3 you’ll need the Blue Ox Patriot which is the next generation for the Patriot braking system.Attached is a review video for you to check out.
