Can President Trump Be Re

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Now that Donald Trump is nearing the end of his term, and former Vice President Joe Biden has been projected as the winner of the 2020 presidential election, can Trump legally run and be elected again in 2024?
He can, and its happened before, said Brian Browne, assistant vice president of government relations at St. Johns University, who points to another prominent New Yorker, Grover Cleveland, who did exactly that back in 1893. Legally, under the 22nd Amendment, theres nothing stopping him from making an attempt.
Cleveland, who served as governor of New York and mayor of Buffalo before being elected president in 1884, served from 1885 to 1889, said Browne, who is also an adjunct professor of political science. Cleveland then lost his re-election bid to Benjamin Harrison, but that didnt stop him from being elected again and serving a second term as president from 1893 to 1897.
After days of counting — and a nation hanging on every update in the vote tally from the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona — on Saturday a number of media organizations projected that Democratic challenger Joe Biden will win the presidency.
North Carolina, Georgia and Alaska have still yet to be called.
What Happens To Nato If Trump Wins In 2024
Donald Trump spent four years alienating allies, flattering dictators, and upending the post-WW2 order. His second act could be even worse.
It is axiomatic that free countries have a harder time guaranteeing long-term commitments, but Trump is incomparable as a wild card. What is more, the possibility that Trump will be re-elected isnt implausible. Theres a general consensus that the Republican nomination is his for the taking.
President Joe Biden is currently enjoying a post-State of the Union bounce, but his approval numbers are still underwater. His party is well-positioned to get absolutely trounced in the midterms. And if we havent already learned that anything can happen from the 2016 electionas well as Trumps failed coup attempt in 2020then we never will learn.
During his presidency, Trump harshly criticized our allies, while lavishing praise on dictators like North Koreas Kim Jong Un. I have NATO, I have the UK, which is somewhat in turmoil, and I have Putin. I think Putin may be the easiest of them all, who would think! he said.
These are just a few of the many examples of how in four short years, Trump buddied up to dictators while simultaneously straining Americas relationship with our allies.
Well do it in the second term, Trump reportedly decided.
Trumps Fixation On The Past Puts His Political Future In Limbo
But some Trump allies believe he may ultimately opt against a run, either for health reasons or, if Bidens poll numbers rebound, because he doesnt want to risk a second loss, even though he has yet to acknowledge the first defeat.
So far, a slew of prominent Republicans have begun making overt moves to run in 2024. Whether they will abandon their own White House dreams if the former president were to run again is another matter entirely.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Sens. Tom Cotton and Ted Cruz are among those who made appearances in early voting states, and some have started securing top political consultants. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has hinted shed mount a bid but wouldnt run against Trump if he decides to enter the race. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has suggested he may run even if Trump does. And there is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has emerged as an heir-apparent to Trump and the populist MAGA movement.
Things may be just as uncertain on the Democratic side of the ledger. If Biden opts against seeking reelection, the field may not clear out for Vice President Kamala Harris, who has yet to find her political footing in the role. Two 2020 candidates, Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker , each have held recent high-profile events on hot button election topics.
If Biden opts to seek a second term, a serious primary challenge would be unlikely.

Morris told The Post Tuesday the January 6th commission hearings will backfire massively.
There is a fiddling-while-Rome-burns quality to the hearings. Much ado and much distraction about nothing. The more attention the issue draws, the more it becomes apparent that the Democrats are not talking about the concerns that bedevil the average person high prices and inflation at the pump, he said.
Morris likened the Democrats obsession with Trump and the Jan. 6 protests to Republicans in Congress moving to impeach President Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, which hurt the GOP in the 1998 midterm elections because voters thought they made a mountain out of a molehill.
The book also was written before the Supreme Court rulings that tossed out restrictions on concealed guns, overturned the federal right to abortion and scrapped executive power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions on power plants without congressional approval, which could galvanize Democrats to go to the polls.
I do not think any of this terms Supreme Court rulings will have an adverse effect on Trumps chances or those of the Republicans in 22 or 24, he said.
The abortion decision has the most potential impact but, since state laws remain in force, the impact is largely theoretical and when people see how it works out theyll see that very little has really changed.

Trump Jr posted on Twitter on November 6 saying: “The total lack of action from virtually all of the ‘2024 GOP hopefuls’ is pretty amazing.
He also posted an image of himself in front of a banner with the words “Don Jr 2024” on Instagram just two weeks ago.
He wrote as the caption: “Hahahahaha. Oh boy. This was a sign I saw up at the Fallon Nevada Livestock Auction. This will make the lib heads explode.”
“To whomever made that thanks for the compliment but let’s get through 2020 with a big win first!!!!”
There’s also Ivanka Trump to consider.
Ms Trump now has years of administration experience serving as a White House advisor to her father.
According to the White House, in her role Ivanka: “Focuses on the education and economic empowerment of women and their families as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training and entrepreneurship.”
She also served as an unpaid employee in the White House, saying back in 2017 when she was given the role, she had “heard the concerns some have with my advising the President in my personal capacity”.

America Is Not Ready For Trumps Second Term
And he could win, fair and square.
About the author: David A. Graham is a staff writer at The Atlantic.
The United States was unprepared for the scope of President Donald Trumps attempt to steal the 2020 presidential election. By Election Day, Trump had spent months calling the election rigged, and historians and democracy experts warned of the damage that these false claims could make. But when the president stepped to a lectern in the White House late on Election Night and insisted hed won, many Americans were taken aback. Much worse was still to come: Trump calling Georgias secretary of state, asking him to find 11,000 votes attempting to weaponize the Justice Department and instigating the failed January 6 insurrection.
Americans are ready now. If anything, theyre overprepared. Many members of the uneasy coalition of Democrats and former Republicans who oppose Trump are frantically focused on the danger of Trump and his GOP allies trying to steal the 2022 and especially 2024 elections. This is not without justification many of Trumps henchmen, meanwhile, are frantically focused on stealing it. But these watchdogs risk missing the graver danger: Trump could win this fair and square.
The possibility remains that they might try everything else and then opt for the wrong thing after all.
Donald Trump Predicts America Will End Within 3 Years
Hows this for a paradox? Donald Trump is predicting America will end in three years and is also hinting that he may run for office in 2024 three years from now.
The former president made the contradictory claims during a Newsmax interview on Tuesday with his former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. True to form, he also falsely claimed the 2020 presidential election was rigged.
After Trump said our country has gone really downhill in the last eight months like nobodys ever seen before, he suggested, without offering any proof, that the country will end.
And you go to these elections coming up in 22 and 24 were not going to have a country left, Trump said. The election was rigged, and were not going to have a country left in three years, Ill tell you that.
Spicer then tried to end the interview, possibly because Newsmax is facing a $1.6 billion lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems for deliberately lying about widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election and defaming the voting machine company.

Make Even More Inroads Among Voters Of Color
Trump or any Republican who runs for the White House should travel down inroads the former president made among voters of color, said Jeff Roe, who managed Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s 2021 campaign in Virginia as well as Sen. Ted Cruz’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Hispanics, in particular, are becoming more conservative, said Roe, who now runs the consulting firm Axiom Strategies that represents GOP candidates all around the US.
While most voters of color decisively supported Biden during the 2020 election and fueled his victory, Trump did improve his showingcompared to 2016. In all, 26% of Trump’s support during the last presidential election came from nonwhite voters. A report by the Democratic data firm Catalist found there was about an 8 percentage-point swing toward Trump in 2020 compared to 2016.
“With that growth it’s a real opportunity for Republicans,” Roe said.
Will Donald Trump Run For President In 2024
In the first half of 2022, Trump has held several political rallies in different states.
Even though they are not presidential campaign rallies, these frequent rallies have made some of his supporters believe that he may make a comeback in 2024.
Additionally, after the news broke that for at least two years, Trump released a statement implying his return to the presidency.

The Market Is Betting Trump Will Lose The Election Heres The Playbook If Its Wrong

The market is positioned for a win by former Vice President Joe Biden in the coming U.S. presidential election, even as polls tighten. If President Donald Trump is re-elected, it would be another shock to the market, but the playbook this time would look different than in 2016, with more industry-specific rather than broad-market opportunities.
In a note to clients this week, Wolfe Research Chief Investment Strategist Chris Senyek said Trump still has a narrow path to reelectionfor example, even if he loses two out of three in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, he can still prevail if he can hold all the other states he won in 2016. If there is a status quo outcome, with Trump in the White House and a split Congress, Senyek expects a continued heavy reliance on executive orders and regulatory changes.
What A Second Trump Term Would Mean For The World
Trump’s potential reelection should be seen as a pincer movement, an attack on the international order from two sides, argues Thomas Wright. Trump would consolidate his control over the institutions of government, bending them to his will, removing any lingering resistance from the Republican Party. Meanwhile, by confirming that the United States has rejected its traditional leadership role, a second Trump term would make a lasting impact on the world right when it is at a particularly vulnerable moment. This piece originally appeared in The Atlantic.
If Donald Trump defies the odds and wins a second term, the next four years will likely be more disruptive to U.S. foreign policy and world affairs than the past four have been. Think of his reelection as a pincer movement, an attack on the international order from two sides. Trump will consolidate his control over the institutions of government, bending them to his will, removing any lingering resistance from the Republican Party. Meanwhile, by confirming that the United States has rejected its traditional leadership role, a second Trump term would make a lasting impact on the world right when it is at a particularly vulnerable moment. U.S. alliances would likely crumble, the global economy would close, and democracy and human rights would be in rapid retreat.

What Is Lichtman’s Prediction For 2024
Prof Lichtman, who details his strategy for predicting the White House winner in his book, Predicting the Next President: The Keys to the White House, said although it is very early, it would strongly be to the Democratic party’s advantage if Mr Biden ran for re-election in 2024.
With the sitting president running again, youre not going to have a big internal party fight, thats a major key, and youre unlikely to have a big third-party movement. It’s also worth noting that Biden will probably achieve major policy changes from the Trump administration, he said.
There are some, however, who see Mr Bidens age, he is 77, as an obstacle to a second term.
Although Mr Biden has not indicated whether or not he plans to run for re-election, there is ample speculation that he might not.
If that is the case, Prof Lichtman says it will be a tougher journey for Democrats.
You lose the incumbency key right off the top, and youre much more likely to have an internal party battle for who will be the nominee to take over from Joe Biden, he said.
Conversely, although he stopped just short of making a prediction, Mr Lichtman believes the 2024 presidential vote could be problematic for the Republican party.
It doesnt look like the Republicans have anyone who fulfils the challenge charisma key, the once-in-a-generation inspirational candidate, like Franklin Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan, he said, pointing to the potential for a power vacuum in the party.
How Do Republicans Feel About Trump
Polling is one indication of Trumps sway over the GOP. By the end of his presidency, he had an approval rating of just 38.6%, and an October 2021 Pew Research poll found that only 44% of Republicans want Trump to run again in 2024.
But his supporters are die-hards, and some happen to be party elites and major GOP donors. Despite Trump’s 2020 electoral loss and two impeachments, his rallies are still highly attended by enthusiastic participants. And, following Trump’s criticism of the Commission on Presidential Debates as biased against him during the 2020 election, the Republican National Committee signaled its plan to require its candidates to withdraw from presidential debates.
As Perry says, He has a solid 30% or so of the American people behind him seemingly no matter what.
For now, Trump is also maintaining strong fiscal support. At the start of 2022, his team announced that its various political committees had amassed $122 million in funding. In local, state, and federal elections, the candidate who spends more money on their campaign tends to win the election. So even though Trump has yet to officially announce his 2024 candidacy, entering with millions in cash would provide him with an advantage, covering major campaign expenses such as staff salaries, wide-reaching ads, and frequent travel to campaign in key areas.

Joe Rogan Reveals If He Will Ever Host Donald Trump On His Podcast
We refused any payment. Some said that Trump was suspicious of those he paid, worried that he was being ripped off. We felt that by turning down any formal role in the campaign, we could skirt the infighting that raged inside, Morris said.
We also decided, jointly with the president, that the calls and our consulting role should be kept secret. And so it remained for the ensuing seven months.
Morris also chuckled about what he learned about Trump: You cant change his aggressive, forceful personality.
Trump is Trump. Like it or lump it. Hell never change, and I came to realize that his manner could not be divorced from his successful outcomes. Change one, and you would forfeit the other, he said.
He previously said the 2024 contest could be a rematch between Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Grand Jury Convened In Criminal Investigation Of Trump
Only one president, Grover Cleveland, has ever lost a re-election bid and come back to reclaim the White House. In modern times, one-term presidents have worried more about rehabilitating their legacies by taking on nonpartisan causes Democrat Jimmy Carter by building housing for the poor and George H.W. Bush by raising money for disaster aid, for example than about trying to shape national elections. But Trump retains a hold on the Republican electorate that is hard to overstate, and he has no intention of relinquishing it.
“There’s a reason why they’re called ‘Trump voters,'” Miller said. “They either don’t normally vote or don’t normally vote for Republicans.”
Trump lost the popular vote by more than 7 million last year and the Electoral College by the same 306-232 result by which he had won four years earlier but he got more votes than any other Republican nominee in history. And it would have taken fewer than 44,000 votes, spread across swing states Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin, to reverse the outcome.
Republicans, including Trump allies, say it’s too early to know what he will do, or what the political landscape will look like, in four years. A busload of Republican hopefuls are taking similar strides to position themselves. They include former Vice President Mike Pence, who is speaking to New Hampshire Republicans on Thursday, an event that the Concord Monitor called the kickoff of the 2024 race.
That’s basically what Trump is doing.
