Second Half Scoring Highlights

New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles | Preseason Week 2 2021 NFL Game Highlights

Jones opened the second half by leading a methodical, 9-play 75-yard drive. The rookie showed strong pocket presence, finding receiver Gunner Olszewski on two separate occasions. Running back J.J.Taylor continued to make his case for a roster spot, displaying a nice spin move, before taking his second red zone carry into the endzone.

On his final scoring drive of the night, Jones would once again lead his team 70 yards on 10 plays, utilizing the rushing abilities of both Stevenson and Taylor. FOr the second time in as many games, Stevenson would earn his second touchdown of the game on another one-yard rush.

New Englands Defense Picks Up Three Turnovers

New England corralled one pick in the preseason opener. There would be three more of different varieties on Thursday night.

An errant snap flew over Philadelphia quarterback Joe Flaccos head on the second play from scrimmage. It became a forced fumble for Patriots outside linebacker Matt Judon that ex-Eagles defensive back Jalen Mills picked up for a recovery on the doorstep of the end zone.

And with halftime nearing, another turnover surfaced. Harvey Langi would be the reason. The linebacker charged to the right flat to make a diving interception on fourth down after a deflection from gunner and cornerback Justin Bethel. Safety Adrian Colbert then tacked on an interception of his own in the fourth quarter and returned it 18 yards.

Sports Interaction: Patriots Will Cover In Week 10 Vs Browns

Payton Matthews writes: “Cleveland was a 41-16 upset winner in Cincinnati on Sunday in its first game since releasing Odell Beckham Jr. Nick Chubb ran for 137 yards cornerback Denzel Ward had an early 99-yard interception return for a TD. The Browns became the first team since the 1967 San Diego Chargers to record an interception return for a touchdown, a receiving TD and a rushing TD of at least 60 yards in a single game. New England rolled 24-6 at Carolina but saw running back Damien Harris and tight end Jonnu Smith both leave early.”

Defense With The Shutout

Despite seeing minimal time throughout the first two preseason contests, Judon has been a difference maker. His ability to get after the quarterback, set the edge to facilitate the run defense, and occasionally drop into coverage make him a perfect fit as an outside linebacker in New England.

Harvey Langi may be facing an uphill battle to make the 2021 Patriots roster. However, the 28-year-old linebacker made a strong case to earn his second tour of duty in New England. Langi would finish the evening with 5 total tackles, one sack and a tackle for loss. He also notched an interception, making an aggressive move to snag a pass-breakup from defensive back Justin Bethel.

Philadelphia Eagles: 4 Bold Predictions For Preseason Week 3 Vs Jets

Eagles vs. Patriots: Players to Watch During Monday Night ...

The NFL preseason is wrapping up this weekend as teams across the league look to make their final cuts. On Friday night the games begin, and the Philadelphia Eagles will face the New York Jets.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts missed the previous game against the New England Patriots with an illness, spoiling the chance to finally see the Hurts-DeVonta Smith feature in the NFL. Of course, they were teammates at Alabama, but now they reunite in the NFL.

Hurts should be ready to roll for this game, and hopefully he and Smith can get a little run together before the season begins.

With that said, here are four bold predictions for the Eagles preseason finale against the Jets.

New England Patriots Winners From Preseason Week 1 Vs Eagles

Mac Jones, QB Cam Newton may have thrown the only passing touchdown for the Patriots, but those who look really closely see just how much Mac Jones has improved and how comfortable he looks in the pocket, albeit in the preseason against reserves. However, you can only play what is in front of you, and expectations are that you perform to the best of your ability.

The Patriots invested a first-round pick in Jones, believing that he can become the future franchise quarterback and fill the shoes left by a legendary quarterback who will be making his return to Foxborough in Week 4. Jones may not have the flashy numbers, but it is about showing whether or not you can play in the preseason, and he most certainly did.

Matthew Judon, LB When Judon was signed as a free agent this offseason, the purpose was to aid the pass rush, and that he did. One tackle doesnt say much, but the constant motor and the endless pursuit of the quarterback during the game is one that head coach Bill Belichick will certainly be pleased with.

Furthermore, the ability to fly up and down and left and right across the field was evident by Judon throughout his time on the field. Judon will likely get the starting job in Week 1, but if he continues to play the way he played and add more to the stat sheet, this free-agent signing may pan out for the Patriots in a greater way.

It’s game day for those of us degenerates who love betting on the randomness of preseason football.

Hurts And Smith Connect On A Td

It remains to be seen how much Hurts plays, if at all, but he should get some snaps, especially after missing the game against the Patriots. We might finally get to see a Hurts to Smith touchdown pass at the NFL level, and that is something Eagles fansand Alabama fans have been itching to see for quite some time.

If Nick Sirianni lets Hurts get some run, look for him to lead a successful drive down the field and perhaps connect with Hurts on a score.

Eagles vs. Patriots Highlights | NFL 2018 Preseason Week 2

OVER 38 , UNDER 38

The Eagles fell to the Steelers 24-16 in their first preseason game for a total of 40 points, which went OVER the 36. But Philadelphia only scored 16 points and all of those came in the first half. The Patriots’ preseason opener narrowly survived the under with their 22-13 win over Washington.

New England only added a 91-yard touchdown in the final two minutes after Ron Rivera inexplicably used his timeouts to stop the clock when Bill Belichick was content with letting Brian Hoyer take a knee and run out the clock.

The total opened at 38.5 so the market has already favored the under. But it feels like neither team will be fighting tooth and nail in the fourth quarter. Considering that the Patriots defense is expected to be the team’s strength and that the offense is dealing with injuries at the tight end position , I like the under.

Note: While we’re dealing with a bunch of rain in Boston, the forecast in Philadelphia calls for temperatures in the mid-80’s with partly cloudy skies and a slight breeze. So, no, weather shouldn’t be a factor.

Keys From Patriots Preseason Win Over Eagles

Eagles vs. Patriots: Preseason Week 2

Patriots.com Writer

  • Copied!

The Patriots put together a solid showing in their second preseason game of 2021 against the Eagles, winning the game 35-0, but more importantly making good strides as the regular season rapidly approaches.

Defensively, the team got off to a great start, capitalizing on a botched snap which the offense then turned into an early lead. From there, the Pats would keep rolling with both Cam Newton and Mac Jones under center, while the defense forced multiple turnovers, gave up just 163 yards of offense and allowed no points on the board.

After two joint practices and a satisfying win, it was a productive week in Philadelphia for the Pats, who now return home for the final preseason push.

Here are the five key takeaways from the win!

Play Picks: Take The Patriots Against The Browns In Week 10

Brian Sausa writes: “Over the past two decades, it hasnt been often that the Patriots are underdogs at home. But in Week 10, Cleveland opened as two-point favorites. From the top down, the Browns have one of the best rosters in the AFC, if not the entire NFL. Even with the Pats improvements on offense, Cleveland has more firepower. That said, New England as an underdog in Foxborough is tough to bet against and the Pats will be a trendy moneyline play.”

Eagles Defense Looks Decent

The Eagles got absolutely demolished by the Patriots, 35-0, in their previous preseason game. The Patriots had their way. Both Mac Jones and Cam Newton looked the part of a starting quarterback, and the running backs for New England combined to rush for four scores on the evening.

The Jets had the second overall choice for a reason, and they are likely to struggle against the Eagles, which could be a huge confidence boost for this defensive unit. Zach Wilson has shined in Jets camp, but after that, the Eagles should have no issues slowing down the Jets.

Patriots Vs Eagles Picks

In the preseason, oddsmakers have very little special insight into how the action will unfoldevident by the fact that 14 of the 16 games in Week 1 hit the under. When looking at spreads, sportsbooks usually price the more talented team as slight favorites, but the reality is that the more talented team does not always win during the preseason. More often, the winning team is the one with key position battles and young players, who are working tirelessly to secure a position on the roster.

In this matchup, New Englands quarterback competition likely gives them a leg-up on Philadelphia. Expect Newton and Jones to come ready to play and for Belichick to open up the playbook, so that he can conduct a thorough evaluation of his options heading into the regular season. Bettors should put their faith in the Patriots to continue their preseason dominance.

New England Patriots Losers From Preseason Week 1 Vs Eagles

FULL Highlights: New England Patriots Top Plays vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Preseason Week 2)

Quinn Nordin, K Nordin, a Michigan alum, was brought in to compete with Nick Folk for the starting job. After early success against Washington, Nordin turned a complete 180 and went 1-of-2 on field goal attempts and 2-of-4 on extra points. Consistency is key at the kicking position, and it wasnt on display against the Eagles.

It is the preseason, however, but the kicker position has a little extra news behind it. For one, Folk, despite being a seasoned veteran, was at one point in danger of having Nordin take his spot, only to turn right around and have the competition back on. Things can change in an instant, and Nordin must do better for his sake.

Christian Barmore, DL Based out of Philadelphia, the second-round pick from Alabama had a chance to shine in his hometown and instead racked up one tackle. So why would Judon with one tackle be labeled a winner and Barmore labeled a loser? Its hard to say, but Barmore was expected to produce more and show more and, unfortunately, it didnt show up like that.

Not to worry though, hes not going anywhere. In terms of getting on the field, however, that is an entirely different story. Coach Belichick is very particular about his defensive line play and will only put those he is confident in on the field. Barmore can develop into that kind of player, but hes got to show it on the field first.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones warms up for the team’s preseason NFL football game … against the Washington Football Team, Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, in Foxborough, Mass.

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Week 2 of the 2021 NFL preseason begins on Thursday night with a primetime showdown between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.

This Pats-Eagles matchup, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on the NFL Network, starts up a loaded exhibition slate that will see all 32 teams in action before the end of Monday night. Tonights game is one of the more anticipated preseason games of Week 2, featuring two teams hungry to avenge last years shortcomings and make a leap forward in 2021.

With the league reducing the preseason schedule to just three games for the 30 teams that didnt participate in the Hall of Fame Game, time is running short to make roster evaluations and depth chart adjustments. These teams, which already had to trim their rosters down to 85 players from 90 earlier in the week, must ensure their projected starters arent rusty before the new campaign gets underway as well. Due to this, first- and second-stringers should get more run in Week 2 than they did in the preseason openers.
