Donald Trump To Hold Rally Near California
Former President Donald Trump is visiting the California-Nevada border to throw his clout behind a red-hot Senate race that could determine Republicans national political future.
Trump on Saturday will host a rally near Lake Tahoe in Minden, Nevada, to support Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt and Joe Lombardo, whos running for governor.
Laxalt, a former state attorney general, is in the midst of a very competitive race against incumbent Democrat Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto. A recent CNN poll shows 48% of likely voters favor Laxalt, while 46% favor Cortez Masto.
Nevada is well-known battleground territory. In 2020, President Joe Biden narrowly won the state with about 50% of the vote, while Trump wasnt far behind with nearly 48%.
The Nevada race is among the most competitive Senate campaigns in the country, along with midterm contests in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
Since 2020, Democrats have had 50 seats, giving them control of the Senate by the slimmest of margins. Although Republicans also have 50 Senate seats, Vice President Kamala Harris gives Democrats the edge by acting as the tie-breaker during close votes.
Cortez Masto has previously benefited from Democratic electoral power generated by former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who died in December. She won her 2016 election with a solid 2.5 percentage points.
His Surrogates Are Speaking At Many Events This Week Too
Many other people are campaigning on Trumps behalf in other locations this week.
Donald Trump Jr. is speaking at numerous events this week, including Fighters Against Socialism in Coconut Creek, Florida, on Sunday, October 11 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern. Then hes hosting another event on the same day in Miami, Florida, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, October 11.
Second Lady Karen Pence is hosting an Operation Make America Great Again! event in Tampa, Florida, at 11:30 a.m. Eastern on Monday, October 12.
Eric Trump is hosting his own event in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, on October 12 at 12:30 p.m. Central. Hes then hosting a second event later that same day in Milton, Wisconsin, at 3 p.m. Central.
Vice President Mike Pence is hosting a rally in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday, October 12, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
Donald Trump Jr. is hosting another rally in Savannah, Georgia on October 12 at 1 p.m. Eastern. Hes then hosting a second rally in Kennesaw, Georgia, on the same day at 6 p.m. Eastern.
Rudy Giuliani and Congressman Lou Barletta are hosting an Italian Americans for Trump Columbus Day event in Philadelphia on October 12 at 5 p.m. Eastern.
On Tuesday, October 13, Vice President Mike Pence is hosting a rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin, at 12 p.m. Central.
Lara Trump and Ric Grenell are hosting an event on Tuesday, October 13, at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
On Wednesday, October 14, Vice President Mike Pence is hosting an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
His Visit To Pennsylvania Is A Strategic Choice
Mr Trump’s name might not be on the ballot in Pennsylvania this year, but Trumpism certainly is.
He hand-picked the US Senate candidate, celebrity medical expert Dr Oz, and endorsed the far-right election conspiracy theorist Mr Mastriano for governor after his surprising primary win.
Their performance in the November election will be seen as a referendum on the strength of Mr Trump’s endorsement, and the political ideologies he’s unleashed on the Republican Party.
The outcome could have ramifications for 2024.
Mr Trump has not announced another presidential campaign, but has left the door wide open.
Should his candidates prevail, the Republican Party will see it as a sign of Mr Trump’s continued dominance of their base voters.
Should they lose, however, it could indicate to Mr Trump’s potential 2024 rivals that they may have a chance at the White House after all.
Rallygoers were far more enthused about Mr Mastriano – a candidate more closely forged in the former president’s mould – than they were about Dr Oz.
The crowd roared when Mr Mastriano was brought onstage. However Dr Oz was invited to join Mr Trump onstage well over an hour into the rally.
The celebrity doctor spoke for less than two minutes, and after his remarks, someone in the back of the crowd shouted “he’s a Rino!” or “Republican in name only”, a criticism that Dr Oz is not sufficiently conservative.

Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail on Saturday with a campaign rally held in Minden, Nevada where he spoke for 88 minutes.
Trump was campaigning for GOP Senate nominee Adam Laxalt, who is challenging Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, along with gubernatorial hopeful Joe Lombardo, who is taking on Gov. Steve Sisolak. Trump is also backing election denier Jim Marchant for secretary of state.
“Biden and his Left-wing handlers are turning America into a police state,” Trump warned. We have a weaponized Department of Justice and F.B.I.”
Trump also said the world will be destroyed if Ukraine doesn’t agree to a deal with Russia.

“We must demand the immediate negotiation of a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine, or we will end up in World War III and there will be nothing left of our planet all because stupid people didn’t have a clue, they didn’t have a clue,” Trump said. “They don’t understand, they really don’t understand.”
Dark music played over the end of Trump’s speech, as has occurred at his in Pennsylvania, in Ohio, in North Carolina, and in Michigan.
Likewise, much of the rest of Trump’s speech was the standard fare he has offered at the four other rallies he has held since the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago.
On Sunday, Trump will be hosting a rally in Arizona.
Former President Trump Holding Rally In Wilmington Speakers Announced
WILMINGTON, N.C. Former President Donald Trump will be holding a Save America rally in Wilmington.
The event will be held on Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Aero Center, located at 1830 Flightline Rd. in Wilmington. The event is open to online registration for tickets. Only up to two tickets per mobile number will be allowed for the event, according to the DonaldJTrump.com website. Tickets are subject to a first come first serve basis, too, the website states.
Trump is expected to speak around 7 p.m. Its Trumps second visit to North Carolina in 2022. He was in Selma back in April.

One of the things Trump is expected to do at the rally is stump for candidates in the state running for office. Among them will be U.S. Senate nominee Ted Budd, who Trump endorsed at the North Carolina Republican Convention in Greenville on June 5, 2021. Budd is running against Democrat Cheri Beasley for the seat that is open as current US Sen. Richard Burr is retiring.

As the prayer, pledge of allegiance and national anthem began shortly before 1:30 p.m., attendees were still streaming into the dirt lot at Bell Bank Park. Seats were filled in the relatively small area of floor seating and risers around the speaking platform.
After the national anthem, a chant of USA, USA, USA rose through the crowd. Many wore Trump attire, some wore anti-Biden clothes, and lots wore red, white and blue apparel, including a few people draped in American or Arizona flags.
A few people were carried out on stretchers it was a hot and sunny afternoon.
Were just real Trump people, said Ann-Marie Villicana, who drove from Pasadena, California, on Saturday to see Trump on Sunday.
Villicana said she founded LA Trump and was a delegate from California in 2016. One of her friends is working with Lake so she came out to show support.
Since we havent been able to get out to Arizona to help Kari Lake, we thought the least we could do was donate money, get great seats, she said. She and Robin Salzer had VIP seats.
People are just fed up and I think thats why you see the enthusiasm at these rallies, Salzer said. You see the enthusiasm of every demographic, regardless of race, gender, creed, even sexual persuasion, people are just fed up with the way this countrys going.
Kathy Schafer of Chandler voted for Trump and is a big supporter but said she hadnt gone to one of his events until Sunday.

Supporters Think Trump Was ‘set Up’
The crowd was on his side when it came to the FBI’s search.
This region supported Mr Trump in the 2020 election, even though Pennsylvania overall slipped from his grasp and chose Mr Biden.
Two supporters had already procured “Defund the FBI” T-shirts to wear to the rally.
Gail McCloskey, from the city of Altoona, nearly a three-hour drive away, told the BBC she thought the FBI visit was “a set up”.
Meanwhile, Kelly Borgogelli, 60, who had driven four hours from Buffalo, New York, to see Mr Trump, said: “They’re just going after him for pure hate.”
Asked if she believed any of the multiple accusations made against Mr Trump over the years – that he incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol last year, that he improperly pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political enemies, or that he falsified claims of election fraud in 2020 – Mrs Borgogelli replied she did not.
“They’ve never given us any proof,” she said.
Her companion, Maureen Ewart, 62, said if the justice department actually charged Mr Trump, the country would be “divided”.
“It will be crowded out there, the streets will be full,” Ms Ewart said, emphasising that she did not condone violence – but feared any criminal charges against the former president could spark civil unrest.
At one point, Mr Trump himself claimed that the latest investigation into his possession of government documents was “going to produce a backlash” the likes of which the country had not seen before.

Democratic candidate for governor Katie Hobbs held a brief news conference Sunday morning at Barry Goldwater Memorial Park in Paradise Valley to emphasize that Republicans should support her over rival Kari Lake.
Several members of Hobbs Republicans for Katie Hobbs Coalition gathered with her at the park, which celebrates the states conservative icon who died in 1998 following five terms as a U.S. senator.
Karie Dozer, a former spokesman for the late state Attorney General Grant Woods, said Goldwater would be shaking his head in disgust at how crazy Republican politics have become.
Kari Lake is dangerous for Arizona, said Mesa Mayor John Giles, and thats why he a Republican was at the park with Hobbs and not at Trumps rally in Mesa on Sunday.
Those of us who support Secretary Hobbs care very deeply about the future of Arizona, he said. And thats why we are putting our state above our party.
Monica Villalobos, president and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, describing herself as a former Republican, emphasized that the nation has moved forward under Biden.
She didnt leave the party, she said it left her when it began running candidates operating from places of hatred, hubris and hostility rather than honesty, humility and humanity.
Lakes entire platform boils down into being a sore loser, she said.
Other Republicans at the event included former Scottsdale Mayor Sam Campana and former state legislator Steve May.

U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters continued his aggressive attacks on Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., saying he should have to attend the funerals of overdose victims killed by drugs that entered America from its porous borders.
Masters rattled off a familiar list of complaints about current conditions: There are 300,000 people crossing the nations border each month, violent crime has soared in Phoenix since 2019 and fentanyl continues to kill Americans everywhere.
Mark Kelly has been radio silent about fentanyl for 22 months, Masters said. That ended last week, Masters said, because he had a debate with Masters.
One month before Election Day, he says, Uh oh. I better pretend to start doing something about fentanyl, Masters said, adding that 2,000 Arizonans have died from the drug in the past year.
I think Mark Kelly should have to attend the funerals. Let him look a grieving mother in the eye and he can explain to her why he failed to even lift a finger to secure our border, Masters said.
His words extend attacks on Kelly that shot to prominence last week during the debate between the Senate candidates.
Masters took the stage to Danger Zone, the song made famous in both installments of the movie Top Gun that is about Navy pilots. It would seem a curious choice. Kelly was a Navy fighter pilot before becoming an astronaut, while Masters never served in the military.

Dr Oz Shifts Strategy As Campaign Ails
I think Oz is in a pretty good position, said Rob Gleason, the former chair of the Pennsylvania Republican Party. Oz is getting around, doing his homework, doing town-to-town stuff. Fetterman isnt. Hes still wrestling with his post-stroke illness.
As for Mastriano, Gleason said he definitely has a chance because most people are going to vote against Joe Biden, but the big concern is he does not appear to be raising money.
Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist who managed Howard Deans 2004 presidential campaign, said that Trump and Bidens upcoming visits to Pennsylvania demonstrate how tight the Senate and gubernatorial races could ultimately be or perhaps already are.
Youve got the president of the United States and Donald Trump spending a lot of time in Pennsylvania, he said. Its not because people think Mastriano doesnt have a chance.

MESA, AZ Former President Donald Trump is expected to host a rally in Mesa, Arizona, on October 9.
The event, announced by the Save America PAC, is expected to be a campaign rally supporting Trump-backed Republican candidates for election.
The event is expected to begin at 1 p.m. on October 9 at Legacy Sports Park, with former President Trump taking the stage at 4 p.m.

TULSA Stung by the paltry turnout at his Saturday-night rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donald J. Trumps campaign has announced plans to hold his next rally in the bunker beneath the White House.
In announcing the rally, Brad Parscale, the chairman of Trumps reëlection campaign, denied that the choice of venue reflected a tepid level of enthusiasm to see the candidate speak.
The bunker holds forty people, Parscale said. That is a much larger seating capacity than Joe Bidens basement.
Despite the choice of such an intimate venue, however, Trump campaign sources are privately worried that they may have difficulty filling the bunker.
According to one source, Jared Kushner spent all of Sunday morning on the phone begging people to attend the bunker rally.
All of Jareds friends said theyre coming, so thats five seats right there, the source said.

State Rep. Mark Finchems walk-on music at the Mesa rally was the theme from “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” To further his Western bona fides, and to take a swipe at East Coast commentators who mock his western vibe, Finchem wore his cowboy hat and sported his Sunday Go-To Meeting Tie.
He launched into his familiar attack on his Democratic opponent for secretary of state, Adrian Fontes, from Fontes missteps during the 2020 Democratic presidential preference election to his support of all-mail voting to policy changes that were slapped down by court rulings.
Just follow the law is his campaign mantra, and he said he will stick to the rules.

PHILADELPHIA Former President Donald Trump is singling out Pennsylvania for his first rally of the general election on Saturday, where two of his most besieged candidates in the country are threatening to tarnish his record as a kingmaker.
The fact that he has zeroed in on the swing state for the politically symbolic Labor Day weekend, the unofficial kickoff of the midterms, demonstrates how pivotal Pennsylvania is to his success this year and, more likely than not, a future presidential campaign.
Trumps visit to the state also signals that he has prioritized coming to the aid of Senate candidate Mehmet Oz and gubernatorial hopeful Doug Mastriano, who have lagged behind their Democratic opponents in polling and fundraising.
But President Joe Biden is campaigning in Pennsylvania during the long weekend, too, an acknowledgment that the races here are far from over.
Both of them appearing so soon around Labor Day not only says Pennsylvania is a battleground in 2022, but its a battleground in 2024, said Celinda Lake, a pollster for Bidens 2020 presidential campaign. Both of them want to run in an environment where their candidates have won in 2022.
