How Many Miles Can A Jeep Patriot Last Are They Reliable

2011 Jeep Patriot – SUV | New Car Review | AutoTrader

I was recently in the market for a new car, and I had my eye on a slick-looking Jeep Patriot. While I was excited to jump right into a new car, I just had to be sure that I was making a well thought out decision. So, after hours of research, what did I find out?

So, how many miles can a Jeep Patriot last? On average, owners report their Jeep Patriot living until about 150,000 miles with no issues. There is quite a bit of variation when comparing year to year models, though.

For example, it seems unanimous that the 2011 Jeep Patriot is the most unreliable car of the bunch. This is due predominately to engine problems. Owners have reported reoccurring problems such as trouble starting, engine seizing, and not shifting correctly. Its best to avoid this model if you are in the market for a Patriot.

  • Do The Jeep Patriots Have A Lot Of Problems

A few big problems persist with the Jeep Patriots, and these are certainly not cheap fixes. The first and most daunting issue is with the transmission. Many owners have reported overheating of the transmission between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. This is a cause for concern, as it is one of the most expensive repairs you can make.

The other big issue is strange, but it occurs all the same. Water has been reported to leak into the vehicles interior when in wet conditions, although this seems to be true most often in the 2015 and 2016 models.

What Is The Blue Book Value Of A 2007 Jeep Patriot

The term “Blue Book Value” might refer to the Kelley Blue Book value, but is often used as a generic expression for a given vehicle’s market value. You can find the market value of your 2007 Jeep Patriot on Edmunds. You’ll need to know some basic facts about your vehicle, such as the mileage, condition, option packages and trim level. As a general guide, the trade-in value of a 2007 Jeep Patriot with no options and driven roughly 12,000 miles per year would be worth about $1,183 for one in “Clean” condition and about $1,725 if you were selling it as a private party. If the vehicle is in worse shape, you’ll want to deduct a couple thousand dollars for each of the lower two condition levels. Learn more

    1. Affordability

If price is a main factor for you, the 2017 Jeep Patriot is an affordable choice. It prices low for a compact SUV with an MSRP starting at about $18,000 for the base trim. The priciest trim runs over $26,000, making this one of the most affordable new vehicles on the market.

    2. Freedom Drive II’s Off-road Capability

One of the 2017 Jeep Patriot’s big selling-points is the Freedom Drive II’s light off-road capabilities. This 4×4 system is an upgrade from the Freedom Drive I, incorporating a locking Off-Road mode with grade-sensing abilities, Hill Descent Control, and amping up the crawl ratio for rougher terrain.

    3. Optional Flip-down Tailgate Speakers

An additional feature that tailgaters will love are the flip-down tailgate speakers on the Latitude Package. Two of the nine Boston Acoustic speakers flip down from the tailgate of the 2017 Jeep Patriot, adding better sound quality for your tailgating needs.

    4. Multiple Trim Levels

The various trim levels are all pretty athletic, if not a little dated. The High Altitude Edition comes with either a CVT with front-wheel drive or 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. Either trim is a good choice if you’re looking for a ruggedly athletic vehicle you can take off-roading.

How Reliable Is A Jeep Patriot

    Nicholas Hinrichsen – Published: October 15, 2021

There is much more that impacts the cost of car ownership than just the sticker price or MSRP. When buying a car most people have an easy means to find the MPG or fuel economy, fuel costs, registration fees, and insurance premiums as part of their average car annual costs – how do you know how to find maintenance costs?

Most people know that certain brands have good cars that are reliable and others are very unreliable . While these associations are often grounded in fact – theres far more data we can use to determine which Hondas are reliable and which Land Rovers are unreliable.

What Made The Jeep Patriot So Popular

Before we talk about Jeep Patriot problems, we should understand more on why it became popular. Why is it that even four years after it ended production, some people still speak highly of it? The main reasons for this were its cost, and what you get for the money. It was a Jeep, after all, and one that was priced accessibly for consumers. Plus, getting insurance on it was quite cheap, too. Yet, youre still getting the full Jeep experience, with plenty of practicality, and decent off-road capabilities.

There was plenty of luggage and cargo space, so the Patriot made a great family vehicle. Although not all models had 4WD, it was good enough for lighter use. However, its popularity also exposed some flaws in its inherent design. For one, Jeep made severe cost cutting measures to keep the price low. So much so, that technology and creature comforts were basic at most. This is despite the fact that similarly priced crossovers and mini-SUVs had better kit installed. Built quality was lacking, too.

Can Be Hard To Get Inside

As much as we hate to say it, convenience can sometimes be a problem. For example, lifting your vehicle means that itll be harder to get in and out.

While you might not care about having to jump to get inside, your passengers might not be so happy about this change.

You would need to install running boards or rock sliders.

But this also means that you will have to spend money on a set of running boards if you dont want to bother your family.

Whats The Difference Between A Jeep Patriot Sport And Latitude

    2013 Jeep Patriot

The Sport is the most affordable and basic model, whereas the Limited comes with all the bells and whistles you could want. The Latitude trim provides a step up from the Sport with added luxuries, but at the same time, is small enough to offer better gas mileage and off-road capabilities than the Limited model.

How Capable Is The Jeep Patriot Off

Jeeps have a reputation for being an excellent off-road vehicle. The question is, though, where is the line drawn? Do all of Jeeps models perform well off-road? While the Jeep Patriot did get discontinued at the end of 2017, we still see many of them on the roads. Why? Well, for the 2017 model, in particular, it is a relatively reliable car that is very good in less-than-optimal conditions. The 2.5 Litre, 175 horsepower engine provides plenty of power to plow through snow, mud, or organic debris thats in its way.

There is an 8-inch clearance under the vehicle to make sure that its oversized tires can climb over any obstacle in its way, as long as you arent trying to move over giant rocks and boulders. On top of that, the Patriot has a high air intake, which gives this Jeep the ability to crawl through streams or shallow water bodies without flooding and causing damage. While the Patriots 2017 model doesnt feature all the earlier models bells and whistles, it is undoubtedly the most capable of off-roading and back-country situations.

If you often find yourself heading into the mountains or the woods for your weekend trips, the 2017 Jeep Patriot is a great option. If you find yourself needing an extremely long-lasting vehicle and dont need to take it off-road or through bad weather conditions, there might be a better option out there for you.

Driving The Used 2017 Jeep Patriot

You either buy a Jeep for its off-road prowess or powerful on-road performance. Unfortunately, the 2017 Jeep Patriot excels in neither category. While the top-line models do carry a Trail Rated badge worthy of tackling mud, snow and up to 19 inches of water, the Patriot is no Wrangler. Even the little Renegade Trailhawk offers a better off-road setup. On the highway, the Patriot is slow and loud and lacks any will to pass with urgency. We experienced fuel economy lower than the EPA estimates, and that was with the CVT automatic. The 6-speed automatic is preferable for both its performance and better reliability record, but is not available with Freedom Drive II. Ride comfort is rather car-like, a nice change from the firm suspensions of the Mazda CX-3 and Subaru Crosstrek. However, just about every other competitor is more fun to drive, offers superior ergonomics and will hold better resale value.

How Do They Calculate Cost To Own Ratings

Taking into consideration a variety of factors, the professionals at KBB are able to estimate the projected cost of owning a vehicle for 5 years. The factors that contribute to the calculations include fuel, insurance, repairs, maintenance, financing, state fees, and depreciation. The most important factor in the calculation is depreciation. Different vehicles depreciate at different rates, and it just so happens that the Jeep brand vehicles have some of the lowest depreciation rates on the road today.

With the increased off-road capability engineered into it, we might have expected the Patriots highway ride to be rougher than those of its Compass and Dodge Caliber relatives. As it turns out, the Patriot might be the most comfortable cruiser of the three. The compromise seems to have been made in the cornering department wisely, where we wouldnt expect or require much from a Jeep anyway. Where the Patriot really impressed us was out past the pavement, where our “Trail Rated” model was able to traverse bona fide boulders with unexpected ease and composure. As with all such devices, the unique behavior of the Patriots two available continuously variable transmissions can take some getting used to.

Why Did They Stop Making Jeep Patriot

One of the biggest reasons the Jeep Patriot didnt sell was the lack of technology. Why Jeep decided not to add any modern tech is bizarre. It might have had to do with keeping the price point down, but with other crossovers in the same price point that did offer tech, it may have spelled the end for the Patriot.

Is A Jeep Compass A Good Suv

The Jeep Compass is not a very good compact SUV. It has significant body roll through corners, limited steering feedback, and tepid acceleration. This compact crossover also has below-average fuel economy ratings, one of the smallest cargo capacities in the class, and fewer standard safety features than many rivals.
