Mccarthy Criticizes Biden Ahead Of Philadelphia Speech
McCarthy appeared with Jim Bognet, the Republican nominee trying to unseat Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Pa., who represents Scranton. McCarthy, who is the favorite to be speaker if Republicans flip the House, argued that Biden has failed to fix inflation and supply-chain issues, secure the southern border or address rising crime rates.
While the Biden administration billed the remarks as an official White House event, not a campaign event, the speech comes as the president is stepping up efforts to help Democrats hang on to control of Congress with the midterm elections just over two months away.
An NBC News poll last month found that threats to democracy had overtaken the cost of living as the most important issue facing the country.
Biden likened the outlook of Republicans who have embraced the MAGA philosophy central to Trumps presidency to semi-fascism at a fundraiser for Democrats last week.
In remarks this week, also in Pennsylvania, Biden accused Republicans of not being supportive of law enforcement and the rule of law for their attacks on the FBI after it searched Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, their calls to defund the FBI and the unwillingness by some in the party to condemn the Jan. 6 rioters.
In a statement Thursday, Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel accused Biden and Democrats of pitting Americans against one another.

In 2017, Trump gave a speech in Long Island to members of the Suffolk County Police Department. In it, he seemed to encourage roughing up suspects, saying:
“When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody. Don’t hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay?”
He doubled down, saying Dont be too nice. The remarks drew such criticism that Suffolk County even tweeted a rejoinder.

Failure: Family Separations And The Deaths Of Migrant Children
Trump in 2016 campaigned on reducing undocumented immigration, pledging to take a hardline approach.
He made good on that promise when coming into office, but was accused of human-rights abuses and violating international law by the UN.
The Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on illegal border crossings led to the separations of at least 5,500 families and saw children placed in cages.
The president of the American Academy of Pediatrics at the time described the practice as “nothing less than government-sanctioned child abuse.”
After widespread backlash, Trump issued an executive order in June 2018 to halt the family separations, and a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reunite all those it had separated. But the fallout from the separations is ongoing.
Trump falsely blamed his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, for the policy that saw thousands of children separated from their parents.
At least six migrant children died in US custody, leading to widespread condemnation of conditions in detention facilities.
The UN human-rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, in July 2019 said she was “shocked” by the US government’s treatment of migrant children and the conditions they faced in detention facilities after crossing the border from Mexico.
Seven Reasons Why Trump Is The Worst President Ever
I had a college professor who assigned students to write papers choosing the best and worst presidents. We had to provide seven reasons to justify our selections. Most students, including myself, picked Abraham Lincoln as the best, although a few chose John Kennedy, who was then president. I chose the Great Depression president Herbert Hoover as the worst.
If I had to pick the best today, Id stick with Lincoln. But Hoover would easily give way to Donald Trump as unquestionably Americas worst president. Here are seven reasons why:
Trump lies incessantly. He has made more than 10,100 false or misleading statements since his inauguration on everything from crowd size to how tariffs work, according to Washington Post fact checkers. And, no, Mr. President, we dont need IDs to buy groceries. Sadly, Trump has so normalized lying that we are no longer shocked by it. Is this a person we want our children to emulate?
Trump is corrupt. Last fall, a New York Times article listed numerous ways Trump, his family and aides have used the presidency to enrich themselves. These include taxpayers subsidizing Trump when he stays at his properties Trumps companies pushing to expand overseas with help from foreign governments and foreign officials trying to curry favor by spending money at Trumps properties.

Obviously it would not be ideal for Democrats to construct a propaganda megaphone that was exactly like the Republican one, only in reverse able to convince liberal base voters on cue of whatever the party found politically convenient to believe. What’s Trump’s key legacy?
Donald Trump will be remembered as the first president to be impeached twice. He fed the myth that the election was stolen, summoned his supporters to Washington to protest the certification of the Electoral College vote, told them that only through strength could they take back their country, and stood by as they stormed the US Capitol and interfered in the operation of constitutional government.
When historians write about his presidency, they will do so through the lens of the riot.

ISIS shocked the world in 2014 when it took over a large swath of territory across Iraq and Syria and declared a caliphate.

New Poll Asks Americans Whether Trump Should Face Charges Top Midterm Priorities
About half of Americans think former President Donald Trump should face criminal charges for his role in the deadly insurrection that took place at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the latest PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. But far fewer roughly a quarter think Trump will actually be prosecuted.
Since hearings by the House committee investigating the attack began in June, new evidence and testimony have revealed how much Trump and members of his administration knew about the potential for violence, as well as the former presidents embrace of his armed supporters and his unwillingness to intervene when chaos overwhelmed the Capitol.
While a majority of Americans overall blame Trump for what happened that day, public opinion remains divided down party lines, according to this last poll. Nearly all Democrats 92 percent and a majority of independents but only about one in five Republicans agree.
