Mac Jones Vs Buccaneers Defense

Buccaneers vs. Patriots Week 4 Highlights | NFL 2021

Are teams figuring out the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft? His completion percentage, passer rating, and yards per attempt have all decreased in each of the past two weeks.

Jones isnt making terrible decisions his bad throw rate and on-target rate are both fine, and his average release time isnt terrible either. But he hasnt had much success throwing downfield. Jones average completed air yards is in the bottom 10 of the league, and he has the third-lowest average air yards differential. Those stats are courtesy of Next Gen Stats.

This might be the week Jones figures it out. Hes playing at home against the NFLs 32nd-ranked pass defense and the NFLs 32nd pass rush . The Bucs are atrocious on third down, allowing conversions on 53.2% of the time .

ADVANTAGE: Push

Pick: Buccaneers 28, Patriots 19

This is the Brady Bowl as Tom Brady faces his former team and former coach. The emotions will be high for Brady. But when it gets down to playing football, Tampa Bay is the much better team. They are playing consecutive road games, but it won’t matter. Brady gets the best of his former team and rookie quarterback Mac Jones struggles.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Rob Gronkowski Jason Pierre

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski will not travel to New England on Saturday and is out for Sunday night’s game against the Patriots because of his rib injury, the team announced.

Buccaneers linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul also did not travel with the team and is out with hand and shoulder injuries. Starting cornerback Carlton Davis was also listed as questionable.

Gronkowski had been considered unlikely to play, as he was listed as doubtful and did not participate in practice all week, though he was seen at practice Friday during the portion open to the media. Pierre-Paul practiced Friday for the first time since Sept. 15 and had been listed as questionable, though coach Bruce Arians had said that both players would be game-time decisions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Look To Bounce Back

Whether the Buccaneers were guilty of underestimating the Rams or a lack of preparations is up for debate. It doesnt change the fact that they got their butts whooped by Sean McVays side at SoFi Stadium in Week 3 a result that went against the closing odds across multiple sports betting markets.

Tom Brady struggled to get the offense going, but thats a credit to the Rams defense which had the veteran signal-caller under enormous pressure. Brady went an incredible 41-of-55 for 432 yards and one touchdown, but the Buccaneers only put up 21 points when all was said and done. Brady even led the team in rushing, which is an aberration if ever there was one. Brady rushed for 14 yards on three carries and a score. Mike Evans led the team in receiving with 106 yards on 8 receptions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On the heels of the loss, the Buccaneers slipped to a 2-1-0 record and 1-2-0 ATS record that includes a 5-point margin of victory and a -2.8 differential versus the spread.

The Buccaneers failed to cover the closing as the 9.5-point home chalk in Week 1 following a 31-29 win at Raymond James Stadium. They lost outright as the 1-point road chalk in Week 3 to the Rams. The lone cover came at the expense of a hapless Atlanta Falcons side as the Buccaneers took the commanding 48-25 victory.

Buccaneers Vs Patriots: Highlights And Past Stats

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS VS NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 10

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will visit the Patriots at Gillette Stadium during Week 4 for Sunday Night Football. The Bucs are the defending NFL champions after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last year.

Tampas quarterback Brady joined his current team for the 2020 season through free agency. This move followed a 20-year career in New England where Brady won six Super Bowls.

The Patriots also traded tight end Rob Gronkowski to the Buccaneers before the 2020 season started.

This years Pats-Bucs game will also be the first regular-season matchup between the teams since 2017. The AFCs Patriots and NFCs Buccaneers rarely meet in the regular season.

In contrast, the Bucs play these NFC South teams twice every year:

  • Atlanta Falcons

Over/Under: 56

Result: Patriots 19, Buccaneers 14

This game was the first time Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady won a game in Tampa Bay. After Brady threw a first-quarter interception, he played one of the best 2nd quarters of his NFL career.

New England Patriots

The Pats proved again that they were able to bounce back after a loss. In fact, the team was a stellar 38-5 during the last 43 games after losing the previous game.

The New England Patriots also entered the game as the NFLs leader in yards per game and second in average points per game at 32.3. On the downside, the Pats ranked last in yards surrendered and points allowed at 32 per game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vs New England Patriots Prediction And Odds

  • Spread: Buccaneers -7
  • Moneyline: Buccaneers -290, Patriots +230
  • Over/Under: 49 (Over -110, Under

When you look at Tampa Bays season through two weeks, it is their offense that is leading the way. They rank in the top 10 in both points scored and yards gained, largely thanks to their passing game.

In contrast, their defense ranks in the bottom 10 in both categories, also largely because of the passing game. Those numbers do offer some pause when making predictions for this Buccaneers vs. Patriots game.

Its important to mention that the Buccaneers have faced two potential NFC playoff teams and two strong offenses in the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams. They may get some respite in this matchup against a Patriots offense that ranks 26th in passing yards per attempt and 27th in passing touchdowns.

On the other hand, while the offense has struggled, New Englands defense has been superb. However, having faced the Dolphins, Jets, and Saints, the case could be made that this will be the first real test for the Patriots defense and quite the test it will be against their former QB. Coming off a disappointing performance in Week 3, the Patriots need a strong showing to demonstrate they are still a force in the AFC.

The Rams exposed Tampas talented offensive line a bit in Week 3, with 6 tackles for loss and 5 quarterback hits. The Buccaneers also couldnt run the ball an area of season-long concern for Arians. Their 3.5 yards per carry is 26th. Pass blocking is the strength of a group led by its left side .

Brady Gets The Upper Hand On Bill Belichick

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The first battle between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady goes to the quarterback. With a minute remaining in the game, kicker Nick Folk’s 56-yard field goal attempt through the New England rain was no good, clinching the Buccaneers a 19-17 victory in Brady’s first trip back to Gillette Stadium since leaving the organization as a free agent in the spring of 2020.

After trailing by one with 4:34 to play in the game, Brady was able to move the Buccaneers offense 45 yards down the field to set up a Ryan Succop field goal to give Tampa Bay the edge. At that point, Bruce Arians’ defense was able to fend off New England’s offense from setting up a more manageable field goal attempt with the clock ticking under a minute. Brady finished his night completing 22 of his 43 throws for 269 yards.

While the Buccaneers were able to come out on top, it was a valiant effort by the Patriots, especially by rookie quarterback Mac Jones, who at one point completed 19 straight passes. Jones finished 31 of 40 passing for 275, two touchdowns and an interception.

Prior to the game, Brady was honored with a one-minute video tribute by the Patriots, highlighting his many accomplishments with the franchise. The Gillette Stadium video board also recognized when Brady surpassed Drew Brees to become the NFL’s all-time leading passer early in the first quarter with a pass to Mike Evans.

Picking On The New Guy

The Patriots threw at recently signed cornerback Richard Sherman a couple of times during a mid-second-quarter drive, and it helped lead to a go-ahead touchdown.

Sherman was called for pass interference on NKeal Harry on a short pass to the right side of the field, the 10-yard penalty moving the ball to the Tampa Bay 37.

After a holding penalty against Mike Onwenu cost New England the 10 yards, Mac Jones completed a 16-yard pass across the middle to Kendrick Bourne to the Bucs 31 with Sherman in coverage. The play turned a second-and-20 situation into a much more manageable third-and-4.

Five plays and a pass interference call against Carlton Davis later, the Patriots got on the scoreboard on an 11-yard pass from Jones to tight end Hunter Henry.

Bucs vs. Patriots Highlights, Week 4 | Bucs Rewind

The Patriots threw the ball on the first three plays and were able to move into Buccaneer territory, but a Joe Tryon-Shoyinka sack on 2nd and 5 forced the Patriots into a 3rd and 9 that they couldn’t convert. So, they had to punt the ball.

The Bucs started their first drive of the game at their own 11, but quickly faced a 3rd and 2. Leonard Fournette broke through the line for a 21-yard gain to move the ball to the Patriot 40. The drive soon ended, however, as Tom Brady missed an open Cameron Brate on a deep corner route.

Pinion’s punt bounced off GunnerOlszewski‘s hands and it looked the ball was about to roll out of bounds inside the Patriot 5, but it bounced off the pylon and went out of bounds, instead. Therefore, New England’s offense started its second drive at its own 20.

Tragedy nearly struck for the Patriots just two plays in. It looked like Jakobi Meyers was about to gain eight yards off a shifty catch-and-run, but Shaquil Barrett punched the ball out and Devin White was able to recover the ball and return it to the New England 15. The play was reviewed and reversed, however, the Patriots still faced a 3rd and 14 due to a four-yard loss on the first play of the drive.

New England couldn’t overcome the deficit and punted. An illegal block in the back on Rashard Robinson had the Bucs starting at their own 18 instead of their 38 to start the second drive of the game.

The 44-yard kick went through and the Bucs went into halftime down 7-6.
