New England Patriots Vs Washington Football Team Betting Odds
The most important and most-watched sport in the United States, American Football or NFL, is back in its 2021-2022 season and, after the game played on August 5, 2021, called Hall of Fame Game, begins the NFL preseason officially.
The new season will feature 17 games, so each teams preparation phase will be reduced to just three weeks. Each team will have three preparation games, except for the Cowboys and Steelers, who have four games.
The preseason game between the New England Patriots and Washington Football Team will be played this Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.
You can follow all the betting statistics of the NFL and the analysis of each of the participating teams below.
Washington Football Team Vs New England Patriots
Washington enters this preseason game with a new QB under center, having signed the longtime veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick during the offseason. Behind him, a fierce battle is taking place for QB2 between Kyle Allen and Taylor Heinicke.
On the other side of the ball, the Patriots are in the midst of a QB controversy. Cam Newton is seemingly the starter coming into the preseason, but rookie Mac Jones has impressed in camp. Will Newton hold onto his position, or will Jones supplant him as the QB1 in New England? Expect to see plenty of fireworks between the two in this preseason matchup.
Nfl Odds: Mac Jones Isnt To Blame For Patriots Early
There are a lot of people that will shy away from laying a touchdown with the Patriots this week. I am not one of them. When the Patriots and Jets played in the Meadowlands in Week 2, the line was predominantly New England -6. As the two teams play at Foxboro this week, the line is only -7.
We know that home-field advantage is pretty close to dead in the NFL, but it still gets incorporated into the markets to some degree. Why this line is virtually the same five weeks later is a head-scratcher to me. I believe that Jones has actually played well. The vanilla, conservative play-calling has held him back, but the Patriots are still in much better shape with him than the Jets are with Wilson.
The Jets are off of the bye week here and maybe that will help, but Wilson has four touchdown passes and nine interceptions in five games. Hes already taken 18 sacks. He threw four interceptions and was sacked four times in that Week 2 game, which is noteworthy because the Patriots only have 13 sacks for the season. That result speaks to how good of a job Belichick does confounding rookie QBs. Hes 23-6 straight up against them in his time with the Patriots.
Ultimately, I think the Patriots are better than where they were in Week 2 and the Jets are basically about the same. If the Patriots were -6 on the road, I dont see why they should only be -7 at home and you may even find a stray 6.5 out there.
Pick: New England Patriots -7 Adam Burke

Nfl Writer Jordan Dajani Gives His Picks For Week 6 Of The 2021 Nfl Season
I’m not sure how to really start the column this week. I feel like Chicago Bulls security guard John Michael Wozniak doing the “Jordan shrug” after pitching quarters with Michael Jordan. Staring into the eyes of sportsbooks sheepishly grinning — almost apologetic — that I caused them some pain this past weekend. #DajaniDimes is rolling. We went 4-1 on our top five picks and 10-5-1 overall last week. Over the last two weeks, we are 21-10-1 against the spread. We are also now 45-34-1, which is good for No. 2 at CBS Sports among the 10 journalists who give an ATS pick for every game each week.
OK now that I have officially jinxed myself in front of the gambling gods, I wanted to mention that I could be happier. Our No. 1 expert is Ryan Wilson, who has gone an astounding 54-23-3 ATS. Just an absurd run for him, he doesn’t slow down. If you’re wondering why our records are a bit different considering ties, it’s because he and most of the experts are required to get their picks in early while I’m the last to do so. Pros and cons to both, it’s all in the name of transparency. I like to think the bosses want to save the best column for last when in reality it’s probably because they know I’m wasting time watching the Dallas Mavericks defeat the Charlotte Hornets by 68 points in a preseason game — which I definitely did.
Let’s go ahead and jump in. Peep the season stats below.

The Washington Football Team will visit the New England Patriots on Thursday night in the preseason opener for both teams at Gillette Stadium. Washington is opening its quest for a second straight NFC East title after winning the division last season with a record of 7-9 and getting eliminated in the Wild Card Game. New England is looking for a bounce-back season after going 7-9 to finish third in the AFC East a year ago, its first playoff miss since 2008.
These teams most recently met in October of 2019, with New England rolling to a 33-7 blowout win to cut Washington’s lead to 6-5 all-time in the regular season. The Patriots also won the most recent preseason meeting 26-17 back in 2018.

Final Betting Analysis: Patriots Vs Washington
First preseason game for both teams, and we are all waiting for what each of them will show and, most importantly, which players will finally have each of the squads.
The Patriots are one of the most historic teams in the NFL and are used to being in the Playoffs, which is why, for them, starting the season on the right foot is essential to avoid repeating what happened last year.
While Washington, despite having a negative record, managed to be in the past Playoffs and put a good face on the champions, Tampa Bay, we hope they have adjusted the necessary pieces for the start of this new season.
A preseason game is challenging to predict, but we opted for Washington to win this first game.

Game Preview: Washington Football Team At New England Patriots
WEEK 1· Thu 08/12· 7:30 PM EDT
The New England Patriots will open the 2021 preseason against the Washington Football Team and play in front of the Gillette Stadium fans for the first time since the 2019 postseason when they faced the Tennessee Titans in an AFC Wild Card Game on Jan. 4, 2020. The NFL did not play a preseason last year and the Patriots did not have fans in the stands in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Patriots will face Washington in the preseason for the 23rd time, tying the Philadelphia Eagles for the second-most frequent preseason opponent. The Patriots have faced the New York Giants 29. The Giants and Eagles are the Patriots other 2021 preseason opponents.
Football And Fans Return To Foxborough
For the first time in over a year and a half, the fans returned to Gillette. The Patriots faithful were without question excited to return to the stands, but they were probably just as excited to get a first glimpse of their rookie quarterback Mac Jones.
New England and Washington starting quarterbacks, Cam Newton and Ryan Fitzpatrick both began the game under center, but only played a few series before the the second string QBs took over.

Patriots Vs Wft Odds Week 1 Preseason
The Washington Football Team is currently favored in the moneyline at -130 , though wed recommend against dropping enough bills to sniff the hundreds on preseason football. The Patriots, at +105 , seem like a good value play here.
If you prefer working the spread, WFT is favored by 2.5, which you can bet at -116. If youd like to nab the Patriots to cover the 2.5-point spread, that can be had at -108. Things could very much get wonky in the final minutes with an over/under of 34.5 pound the over at -116 or the under at -108.
Washington Begins Year Two Under Ron Rivera With High Hopes
A quarterback carousel featuring Dwayne Haskins, Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke was the main concern last season, so the Football Team added journeyman veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick via free agency to take over starting duties. Wide receivers Curtis Samuel and Adam Humphries were also brought in to help the passing game, while cornerback William Jackson III and first-round linebacker Jamin Davis bolster a defense that is already among the NFL’s best.
Rivera indicated in a press conference last week that the starters including Fitzpatrick will play on Thursday, so expect at least a couple of series with the first-stringers on both sides of the ball. That includes running back Antonio Gibson, who piled up just over 1,000 all-purpose yards as a rookie, along with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin . Defensive end Chase Young is the player to watch on the other side, as he wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks in his rookie season with 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
Despite Rivera’s comments, there will still be plenty of playing time for backups and third-stringers, including veteran wide receiver DeAndre Carter, who is getting rave reviews in training camp. The offensive line has also been shuffling lineups, and second-round pick Samuel Cosmi could be a key player in this game as he battles for playing time at left tackle.

Its actuallykind ofsort ofnearly the time to get excited about the return of Patriots football!
Is everybody ready? Judging by training camp thus far, NKeal Harry definitely is, and will likely be making an impression in Thursday nights preseason opener against the Washington Football Team, presuming he isnt traded first.
Dont expect to see too much run from New Englands first-teamers in this one, especially considering the notoriously stingy Bill Belichick doesnt want the league to get any longer look than they have to at what hes cooking up with so much new personnel this year.
Heck, he probably isnt happy the footage of Jonnu Smith in the backfield leaked out on the oft-chance that gets attempted more than once this season.
So will this be the much-ballyhooed debut of Mac Jones for an extended length of time, or will Belichick continue to keep him in the shadows? Will Cam Newton get to show off his current level of arm strength? Or are we approaching four quarters of Hoyer Ball?
Either way, lets pull up that curtain already! Its time for the Patriots.
New England Patriots Quarterbacks
Like the regular season, the NFL Preseason is all about the quarterback position. I always like to look for quarterback battles as they can lead bettors to teams that actually want to play these games. Cam Newton is likely to be the starter for New England in Week 1 but a lot of people around the Patriots camp believe first-round draft pick, Mac Jones, is breathing down his neck.
Patriots Rookie QB Mac Jones #BuiltByBama
Its tough to say how much Jones will play in the opener but you have to believe it will be much more than Newton. Its reasonable to assume Newton plays a drive or two before giving way to Jones. The Patriots waived Jake Dolegala Monday and Jarrett Stidham underwent back surgery so Brian Hoyer is the only other quarterback on the roster. Its reasonable to expect a lot of Hoyer in the second half of this one.

Week 1 of the NFL preseason is here, and the primetime Thursday Night Game is Washington vs. the Patriots. Both teams came into the matchup with questions at the quarterback position. Here are the Washington vs. Patriots final score, results, and highlights.
New England Patriots Betting Preview: How Long Before Mac
The talk of this 2021 season will be rookie quarterbacks. The New England Patriots selected Mac Jones with the 15th pick in last years draft. Coming from the University of Alabama, Jones is not new to the lights and big moments. The only problem for Jones, he will start this season behind veteran quarterback Cam Newton.
On a one-year contract, Newton will need to show Patriots fans that last year was not him at his best, and he still has some juice left in the tank. Helping him along the way will be a very solid running back core. With Damien Harris, Sony Michel, and James White all vying for touches, they should have plenty of fresh legs. The team also went out and signed a great tight end in Hunter Henry and added a key wide receiver in Nelson Agholor.
The team also took to the defensive side of the ball, drafting defensive players in four of their first six picks. While it is uncertain whether these guys will walk in and get immediate playing time is still unknown, they have at least created depth. Also returning to the team will be veteran Kyle Van Noy. After spending a season in Miami, the linebacker is back in New England and looking to get the team back to the playoffs.
