Bills vs. Patriots Week 16 Highlights | NFL 2021

The New England Patriots feature 28 former players and two contributors in their team hall of fame, established in 1991. A committee of media and staff selected 11 players for enshrinement between 1991 and 2001, before a six-year span of no selections. In 2007, in advance of the 2008 opening of The Hall at Patriot Place, the Patriots introduced a new nomination committee to select three candidates, with the winner of an Internet fan vote being enshrined in the hall of fame. In order to be eligible, players and coaches must be retired for at least four years. Beginning in 2011, and meeting every five years, a senior selection committee has the option of voting a player who has been retired for at least 25 seasons into the hall of fame.

Former owner Billy Sullivan was inducted by owner Robert Kraft in March 2009, the Patriots’ 50th season, as a contributor.

With Training Camp Fast Approaching The Patriots Have Placed A Collection Of Veterans On The Pup List

  • Copied!

With Training Camp scheduled to begin next Wednesday, Patriots players have begun reporting to Gillette Stadium with today’s transaction wire indicating that five veterans will begin the summer on the Physically Unable to Perform list. They are eligible to return at any time, however, if they remain on the list through the end of summer they can stay there through the first six weeks of the season without costing a roster spot.

David Andrews, Jonathan Jones, Raekwon McMillan, Jabrill Peppers and James White were the players placed on the PUP list at the outset of camp. McMillan and Peppers both tore their ACLs last year, while James White continues to recover from a hip injury. David Andrews and Jonathan Jones are recuperating from shoulder surgeries.

All five players could be expected to play significant roles with the team this season, if healthy. McMillan’s injury came early last preseason but he showed enough to earn a new contract with the team. He was among the top starting linebacker options for the defense during OTA work.

Long-time Pats vets Andrews, Jones and White have been among the team’s most valuable contributors over recent seasons. Peppers is the lone newcomer on the list and is another versatile safety who can play a variety of roles, adding intrigue to a strong position group.

The PUP’d fivesome joins rookies Andrew Stueber and Chasen Hines, who were placed on the NFI list earlier this week.

New England Patriots Schedule: Full Listing Of Dates Times And Tv Info

The New England Patriots enter the 2022 NFL season with high expectations for second-year quarterback Mac Jones after reaching the postseason last year with him under center.

The 23-year-old, who was selected 15th overall in the 2021 draft, led New England to a 10-7 record last year in what was one of the more impressive seasons for a rookie quarterback in recent memory. He completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns against 13 interceptions.

However, there’s been a shakeup in the Patriots’ organization this offseason with Josh McDaniels being hired as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, and it’s unclear how Jones will perform under a new offensive coordinator.

Bill Belichick’s squad still figures to remain one of the most difficult teams to defeat in 2022, though it’s hard to ignore the fact that the AFC has become much more competitive this offseason. So, it’s no guarantee the Pats will make it back to the playoffs.

With quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson in the AFC, Jones is going to face a real test in his second season.

The NFL unveiled the 2022 regular-season schedule on Thursday, and New England’s first challenge will come in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. That said, here’s a full look at the schedule and some analysis on key opponents.

The Super Bowl Liii Champion Won’t Be Kicking His Feet Up During His Retirement From The Nfl

Jason McCourty’s time away from football didn’t last long.

The former New England Patriot and Super Bowl LIII champion revealed he was retiring last week, and on Thursday announced he’s making a move to the media side of things.

The cornerback has signed on with the NFL Network, joining a revamped Good Morning Football team.

The former cornerback makes his debut on Monday, July 25, along with newly-hired Jamie Erdahl. McCourty and the former Boston sports reporter will join Peter Schrager, Kyle Brandt, and Will Selva on the show.

Knowing the personality of McCourty and his twin brother this comes as no surprise.

“I’m fired up to join the team at NFL Network because it enables me to step out of one locker room and into another,” McCourty said in a statement.

NFL Network is plenty excited to have McCourty as an asset.

“We are thrilled to add Jason to the cast of Good Morning Football following his outstanding NFL career,” NFL Network senior vice president and head of content Mark Quenzel said. “Jason’s depth of knowledge, championship pedigree and dynamic personality stand out every time he is on-camera, and we are eager to watch him grow and develop in this new career. With Jason joining Jamie, Peter, Kyle and Will, we cannot wait for this next chapter of Good Morning Football to start.”

The Rutgers product is the latest former Patriot to step into sports media, not far behind retired wide receiver Julian Edelman.
