Sanctuary cities are a loose name for states or localities that have regulations which can act as an obstacle for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to hunt down migrants they think they can deport.
So of course Trump has tried to penalise those areas.
How? By threatening to withhold federal funding from them.
Has He Got The Pandemic Under Control
President Biden, who says he carries a card in his pocket with the number of Americans killed by the virus, has made it clear that tackling the pandemic is his top priority.
The main pillars of his Covid plan rested on a widespread vaccination campaign and a massive increase in testing.
In his first year, he has expanded vaccine availability and currently, about 75% of the US has had at least one dose, and 63% are fully vaccinated. Children as young as 5 have been eligible for the vaccine since November, 80 million booster doses have been administered to help protect against Omicron, and free at-home rapid tests have just become available to order this week.
But the rise of variants and continued opposition to vaccines by some mean the pandemic is far from over. Over the course of the year, the US has undergone three major waves of the virus, and more than 850,000 Americans have died from Covid – the highest recorded national death toll from the global pandemic.
Trump Ignored Aides Repeated False Fraud Claims
At the second hearing of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, former President Donald Trumps top aides testified that they told him his claims of election fraud were baseless. What Trump characterized as fraud was just part of the normal process, as former Attorney General William Barr said in one instance.

How Bad A President Was Donald Trump
Donald Trumpâs presidency is now behind us. But the debate over how bad a president he was has only just begun.
A new Pew poll sheds some light on how Trumpâs presidency currently ranks â and the returns are not great for the billionaire businessman. A total of 53% of those polled say that Trump was either a âterribleâ or âpoorâ president, while 35% call him either âgreatâ or âgoodâ .
As you might expect, how you feel about Trumpâs presidency is largely dependent on the party with which you identify. Almost 9 in 10 Democrats say Trump was a âterribleâ or âpoorâ president. More than 6 in 10 Republicans call Trump a âgreatâ or âgoodâ president.
While itâs a bit early to draw conclusions about Trumpâs legacy and how history will remember him, this poll is far from the only evidence that suggests that the 45th President may wind up toward the bottom of rankings of the 44 men who have held the office.
In 2019, Siena College released its latest rankings, the result of the combined views of 159 presidential scholars who rated each of the presidents on 20 different aspects of the job. In those rankings, Trump placed third to last â behind only James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson.
Election Night And The Next Day
The news media and election experts were surprised at Trump’s winning the Electoral College. On the eve of the vote, spread betting firm had Clinton at an Electoral College spread of 307322 against Trump’s 216231. The final polls showed a lead by Clinton and in the end she did receive more votes. Trump himself expected, based on polling, to lose the election, and rented a small hotel ballroom to make a brief concession speech, later remarking: “I said if we’re going to lose I don’t want a big ballroom.” Trump performed surprisingly well in all , especially , , , and . Even , , and , states that had been predicted to vote Democratic, were won by Trump. reported that “Trumptown knew they’d won by 5:30. Math, calculations, candidate dislike causing voter abstention begat the numbers.”
According to the authors of , the White House had concluded by late Tuesday night that Trump would win the election. Obama’s political director called Clinton campaign manager to persuade Clinton to concede the election, with no success. Obama then called Clinton directly, citing the importance of continuity of government, to ask her to publicly acknowledge that Trump had won. Believing that Clinton was still unwilling to concede, the president then called her campaign chair , but the call to Clinton had likely already persuaded her.

Potential Conflicts Of Interest
Trump’s presidency has been marked by significant public concern about conflict of interest stemming from his diverse business ventures. In the lead up to his inauguration, Trump promised to remove himself from the day-to-day operations of his businesses. Trump placed his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. at the head of his businesses claiming they would not communicate with him regarding his interests. However, critics noted that this would not prevent him from having input into his businesses and knowing how to benefit himself, and Trump continued to receive quarterly updates on his businesses. As his presidency progressed, he failed to take steps or show interest in further distancing himself from his business interests resulting in numerous potential conflicts. Ethics experts found Trump’s plan to address conflicts of interest between his position as president and his private business interests to be entirely inadequate. Unlike every other president in the last 40 years, Trump did not put his business interests in a blind trust or equivalent arrangement “to cleanly sever himself from his business interests”. In January 2018, a year into his presidency, Trump owned stakes in hundreds of businesses.
Failure: Charlottesville And George Floyd
Trump’s response to a deadly neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, was one of the most controversial moments in his presidency.
It was emblematic of Trump’s struggle to bring the country together after tragedies, and more generally. His response also typified his controversial record on race relations and white supremacy.
Trump blamed “many sides” for the violence at the rally, which resulted in the death of a counterprotester, Heather Heyer. He later said there were “very fine people on both sides.”
The former president was excoriated by Republicans and Democrats alike over his response and his failure to offer a swift and forceful condemnation of white-supremacist violence.
GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, often one of Trump’s fiercest defenders in Congress, at the time said the former president’s words were “dividing Americans, not healing them.”
“President Trump took a step backward by again suggesting there is moral equivalency between the white supremacist, neo-Nazis and KKK members,” Graham added.
In the wake of the brutal death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police and the nationwide protests that followed, Trump also failed to rise to the occasion. He’s done far more to divide the country than bring it together.
Historians have warned that Trump’s tactics mirror those of authoritarian regimes.

Can there be any doubt now that Donald Trumpis a fascist?
His yesterday that he would close the United States to all Muslim immigrants, including tourists and Muslim American citizens abroad trying to return home, confirmed both his fascistic tendencies and his undisguised bigotry, and made something else clear in the process: that he is simply a bad person.
As much as anything, this is the undercurrent that runs throughout the stories that have defined Trump since the beginning of his campaign: He mocked Vietnam POW John McCain for being captured during the war he lobbed sexist jibes at Fox News host Megyn Kelly for daring to confront him about his history of misogyny he mocked a disabled reporter, then falsely claimed he’d never met the man he smeared immigrants as rapists he’s Tweeted snide remarks about the wife of one of his competitors when the crowd attacked a Black Lives Matter protestor at Trump campaign event last month, Trump sided with the crowd, saying he “should have been roughed up” he insisted, contrary to all evidence, that thousands of Muslims celebrated the terror attack of 9/11 on camera he lies constantly, flagrantly, and without shame.
The connecting tissue here is that, given practically any opportunity, Donald Trump will act in the most obnoxious and unpleasant way possible.
Trump’s Record Of Hate
Since Trump was sworn into office, our nations federal courts have halted his draconian and illegal executive actions from being implemented, while millions of people across the country have become more politically engaged, standing up against hate and bigotry.
But Trump is a bully and so is his administration. He will do everything in his power to tear back the progress made under former President Obama, including rolling back and undermining laws that help the LGBTQ+ community and other minority groups.
HRC will continue to stand up against Trump. We will join other civil rights organizations and remain vigilant in holding Trump and his administration accountable at every turn.

Size matters to Trump which is why he and his team practiced their very first professional gaslighting by insisting that the crowds gathered for his inauguration were the largest ever, despite extensive photographic evidence to the contrary.
Later it emerged a government photographer had even edited photos to make crowds appear bigger, according to a Guardian investigation.

When He Invented Three Million Illegal Voters To Explain Hillary Clinton Winning The Popular Vote
Nothing worse than a sore winner even though Trump won the presidency, he cant get over the three million votes that meant Hillary Clinton was the winner of the popular ballot.
From 2017, he promised an investigation into massive voter fraud, saying up to five million votes had been illegally cast for Clinton.
Trump has yet to offer any proof.

Donald Trump is the worst president in U.S. history for three huge reasons and tens of thousands of lesser ones. Only the reasons order is up for debate.
Trumps attacks on institutions the press, the judiciary, the intelligence community culminated in his war on voting. The Jan. 6 mayhem at the Capitol was a direct result and rightly led to a previously unimaginable second presidential impeachment.
The second huge reason is Trumps stunningly incompetent response to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of seeing the virus as a public health threat, he treated it as a threat to the economy and thus to his re-election downplaying it even after it hit in full force in April. He refused to use White House clout to obtain basic supplies and offer guidance to states, then pushed the view that wearing a mask was a political statement against him not an attempt to keep people safe. More than 400,000 Americans are dead at least partly as a result.
Build that wall? No. Its time to rebuild it all.
Trump Privately Called A Roe V Wade Reversal Bad For His Party
The man most responsible for shaping a US Supreme Court that delivered the conservative movement a long-sought victory has spent weeks saying he did not think it will be good for his party.
Publicly, after a draft of the likely decision leaked in May, former President Donald Trump was remarkably tight-lipped for weeks about the possible decision, which the court ultimately handed down Friday, ending federal abortion protections. But privately, Trump has told people repeatedly that he believes it will be bad for Republicans.
The decision, Trump has told friends and advisers, will anger suburban women, a group who helped tilt the 2020 presidential race to Joe Biden, and will lead to a backlash against Republicans in the November midterm elections.
In other conversations, Trump has told people that measures like the six-week abortion ban in Texas, which allows people to file lawsuits against those who enable abortions beyond that time-frame, are so stupid, according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions. The Supreme Court let the measure stand in December 2021.
A spokesperson for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment about his private remarks or his view of the ruling. But in an interview that Fox News published after the decision Friday, Trump, asked about his role, said, God made the decision. He said the decision was following the Constitution, and giving rights back when they should have been given long ago.

Press Bothsideism Has Failed Biden And America
The American press corps struggles every day to prove to readers and viewers that it is fair and balanced, the slogan cleverly adopted by Fox News. If it strongly criticized Donald Trump during his presidency , then it follows that it must also strongly criticize Joe Biden, which is exactly what its done.
Fair, isnt it? Balanced, too, right?
Wrong.
Not only does criticism not come in equal shapes and sizes, appropriate for all presidents and both political parties , but, when unfairly applied, as it has been in covering Biden, it runs the serious risk of further damaging our still free press and weakening our already shaky democracy.
The press image of Biden, president of the United States of America, has been whittled down to that of a doddering old man, wobbly on his feet and barely able to articulate a single thought without slurring.
Is that a fair and balanced image of Biden? Hardly. But can the press do better?
According to columnist Perry Bacon Jr.s analysis of the medias cutting criticism of Biden, journalists seemed poised from Day One of his administration to balance their justifiably negative coverage of Trump with a run of unjustifiably negative stories about Biden. Granted, the press is ordinarily skeptical of any incoming president, but Biden was never given much of a honeymoon.
It is painfully obvious that many serious problems confront the American people, but, press coverage notwithstanding, not all of these are Bidens fault.
Failure: The Us Economy
Trump often took credit for the robust US economy before the pandemic, ignoring that much of the growth began during the Obama administration.
The US faced one of the worst economic crises in its history under Trump, which was intrinsically linked to his disastrous response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coronavirus lockdowns in early 2020 and reduced consumer spending led to tens of millions of job losses as whole segments of the economy sputtered. The economy has since begun adding back jobs, but is far from a full recovery as the US struggles to contain the coronavirus and Biden takes over.
Roughly 22 million jobs were lost from February to April. Though nearly half of those jobs have been recovered, the unemployment rate is still at 7.9% . The pre-pandemic unemployment rate was 3.4%.
As Trump left office, the US national debt was at the highest levels since World War II. And US economic growth was set to average just above 0% for Trump’s first term because of the pandemic recession, according to The Washington Post.
Though the economy is still far from recovered, Trump also failed to bring Congress together to pass a second coronavirus stimulus package prior to Election Day as Americans across the country struggled to cover rent and other bills. The GOP-controlled Senate instead prioritized confirming Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, essentially placing the economy and the livelihoods of Americans on the back-burner.
