Super Bowl LI is set. It’s going to be epic.
When I say epic, I mean epic — and boy do we need it after two stunningly lopsidedgames on Championship Sunday. In fact, these playoffs have lacked drama throughout, with just two of the 10 postseason games being decided by fewer than 13 points.
Let’s put that all behind us, because now we have two weeks to wax poetic on the plethora of storylines between the explosive Falcons and the juggernaut Patriots. The hot topics are going to be sizzling, but my personal favorite is simple on the surface — and complex when you dive deep:
Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned battle between good and evil?
That’s this Super Bowl between Atlanta and New England. And both teams will wear it well.
The Falcons are a loveable bunch. How could you dislike them? It’s, well, impossible!
Matt Ryan could be the most likable player in the league … in addition to the Most Valuable? In Atlanta’s Georgia Dome swan song — a 44-21 beatdown of Green Bay — Ryan treated the Packers like practice-squad players who would never make the league, piling up 392 yards and four touchdowns through the air — and adding a 14-yard rushing score for good measure.
Atlanta’s not just an air show, either — the Falcons finished fifth in the league in rushing. How can you not love the two-headed backfield monster of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman? Shanahan’s balanced offense is a nightmare to defend.
And then you have the Patriots.
I find it awesome.
