You need to know what youre ordering when you decide to buy any long term food storage. Look at the calorie counts per day, look at the number of servings, look at the number of people its targetting. All of these are important and can drastically change what you get inside!
When you first open the bag, you see the four meals inside. You can see that one of my meals still had the old Patriot Pantry packaging.
Id imagine that theyre just working their way through the last of the old packaging. Once they do, youll probably only get the Read Hour branded meals.
Each pouch is made of Mylar and has a ziplock style closure on top. Even though I have a bunch of Patriot Pantry food I dont think I ever realized that they had a ziplock pouch. Thats going to make it easier to try to use some of the meal and save the rest.

My patriot supply is one of the best-known emergency food suppliers, and their food is consistently less expensive than other long-term food storage options. But how does it taste? Does this emergency food kit have enough calories to keep you satisfied?
Generally, Im skeptical of emergency food companies, especially those with apocalyptic advertising that plays on peoples worst fears. Theres nothing stopping a company from making horrible food if they think youre just going to pack it away in the bunker and never eat it.
If youre going to store emergency food, its incredibly important to test it ahead of time, both to learn how it tastes and learn how to cook it.
Patriot food supply is one of the most inexpensive emergency food options on the market, and I honestly wasnt expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised and all their food was easy to cook and had good flavor.
The portions are larger than many emergency food brands, and they contain a minimum of 2,000 calories per day.
Add in 25-year shelf life and space-saving packaging, and this is a great option to keep on a shelf in the back closet for the next emergency.
That said, there are some downsides . These are not the very best emergency meals in my opinion, but they are the best budget emergency food available on the market today.
Your Most Cost Effective Long Term Food Storage Solution
Started in 1972 by Phil Augason, Augason Farms products can now be found in Walmart, Associated Foods, WinCo, Sams Club, Costco, and other places. Their first product was Morning Moos Milk, which is their number one selling instant milk. They focus heavily on producing food supplies for long term storage in case of emergencies.
