Joe Biden Donald Trump Campaign Yard Signs Pilfered In Florida County

Donald Trumpâs social media app âtruth socialâ available online, users begin posting

In picturesque Jefferson County, Florida, campaign lawn signs for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump have been stolen or defaced as part of what one local Democratic Party member calls an uncharacteristic undercurrent in an otherwise calm and quiet tightly knit community.

Ive seen it in the way people react to signs and having to wear masks, said Gladys Roann-Watson, chair of Jefferson Countys Democratic Executive Committee. It seems like a form of subtle aggression toward people who are not supporting the administration thats in there now.

Roann-Watson said numerous people have told her that many of the 200 Biden signs the county Party distributed recently are disappearing from their yards overnight.

For their part, the GOP has come out strongly against taking other peoples yard signs.

The Republican Party of Florida does not condone the defacing or theft of campaign signs regardless of candidate or party affiliation, said Alia Faraj-Johnson, spokesperson for the Republican Party of Florida. Simply putit is against the law and anyone that witnesses a person engaging in that activity should immediately report it to law enforcement.

Several residents have complained that several Trump campaign signs have been taken from where they were planted, and at least one Biden sign was spray-painted black, the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office told the Monticello News & Jefferson County Journal earlier this month.

For The Love Of Sentences

There were many priceless moments in Caity Weavers profile in The Times of Sam Asghari, a.k.a. Mr. Britney Spears, and while most can be wholly appreciated only in the context of the entire article, a few sentences do just fine on their own. Like this one, about two of Asgharis intrusive and fidgety handlers: If Mr. Asghari is the heart of the Sam Asghari business, Maxi and Mr. Cohen are the palpitations. And this one, about his response to all their fussing: After each disruption, he retrieved the path of his thoughts as nonchalantly as a storm-blown songbird recovers its migratory route to the tropics.

Amanda Hesss take on the cultural evolution of Botox is a similar buffet of delicious sentences, and I nominate these representative morsels: Though there are several competing brands, Botox is the Kleenex of the category. It presents the kind of bargain one might strike with a nefarious sea witch: She will grant you eternal youth, but at the price of being able to move your face. Botox once suggested vanity, delusion and self-consciousness, but now it has fresh associations: with confidence, resilience, even authenticity, as the idea of having work done has come to be seen as a legitimate form of work. Female movie stars are no longer buried after a certain age instead they are embalmed.

Pa Sen Scott Wagner: Im Buying 20000 Trump Lawn Signs

While some Republicans in the state fret about their association with Donald Trump even skipping the Republican National Convention altogether to avoid affiliation-by-osmosis PA Sen. Scott Wagner is working overtime to boost for the billionaire businessman-turned-presidential nominee.

Im going to purchase 20,000 Trump lawn signs anyone who wants a Trump sign in my district is going to get one, he said, speaking from his delegate spot at the RNC, in Cleveland. Im going to make sure the base is energized. Pennsylvania is a crucial state this year.

Wagner is a businessman who successfully ran for his seat in the 28th District as a write-in candidate two years ago with a pro-business, Tea Party-esque platform. His district, encompassing most of York County, is a sweet spot for Trumps key white working class demographic, and Wagner has been eying a run against Gov. Tom Wolfs in 2018.

Prominent state GOP members, like US Sen. Pat Toomey, have waffled on their support for Trump, fearing that being associated with his racist rhetoric will damage their own future election hopes. But the state senator has been a prominent support and said hed even been flown out to strategize with Trumps national campaign team and PA operatives.

The state senator had choice words for his hesitant colleagues.

Wagner said hed pay for the lawn signs with his own campaign funds, but didnt know offhand how much they would cost.

When it comes to presidential campaigns, it used to be that sticky bumper stickers were forever but campaign yard signs would come and go with the election cycle.

The rectangular campaign signs would crop up a month or two before a primary or general election on front yards and patches of public land along roads. Then the signs would multiply, crowding each other the closer it got to Election Day.

‘i’ve Wondered If It Could Make Me A Target’

Within a matter of hours of the sign’s placement, a remarkable chain of events was underway. A woman who happened to walk by Garvey’s house had taken a picture of it and posted it to a friend’s Facebook wall. “You should make signs like this,” commented the friend, tagging another friend. That friend, Jennifer Rosen Heinz, agreed enthusiastically. Unlike Garvey, Rosen Heinz is most definitely an activist. “I’m kind of the carnival barker,” she laughs. And she felt the profound need for something that the anti-Trump resistance could rally around.

It’s hard to recall now, but in those early months we rallied around a variety of symbols that didn’t pan out. Remember when we were supposed to wear safety pins? As it turned out, that symbol was not only too small, it was too ambiguous. What kind of safety were you offering? To whom, exactly, were you an ally? The Rebel Alliance/Resistance logo was popular for a while, but you could just as easily be wearing that as a Star Wars fan.

“Lots of people think they support these values, but too often there’s an asterisk,” Rosen Heinz says. “Like ‘oh, it’s okay to be gay if you don’t mention it.’ We needed a statement.”

The Ultimate Political Yard Sign: Painting Trump On Your Roof

Donald Trump releases ‘biggest sign’ he will ‘take on a 2024 run’

Its probably someones version of the American dream.

A charming house on a quiet street in a safe neighborhood, where the neighbors know each others names. Shady canopy of oak trees, white picket fence, gigantic Trump 2020 painted directly on the roof.

Two weeks before a presidential election, its no surprise weve reached peak candidate-yard-sign density in St. Petersburg.

But one home in the Euclid St. Pauls neighborhood has cranked it up a notch with support for President Donald Trump displayed in bright white letters, 20 feet wide.

The neighborhood is in a precinct that voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and is currently dominated by yard signs for Democratic candidate Joe Biden. One neighbor across the street displays a sign with a row of Black power fists in rainbow colors. Another has posted in their window that, in this house, we believe, Black lives matter, womens rights are human rights and science is real.

But the Trump sign, lonely as it may be, is by far the largest on the block, and perhaps in the city.

Oh really, I hadnt noticed, next door neighbor Maggie Hamilton joked sarcastically when a reporter informed her that the neighbors had painted the presidents name directly on their shingles.

Her husband, Kirk Hamilton, said hed taken a picture as the sign was being painted. It only read rump at that point, but the photo still made a splash with his friends on Facebook.

How Lets Go Brandon Became An Unofficial Gop Slogan

Republicans are eating pizzas with the slogan expressed in pepperoni. Theyre wrapping holiday gifts in paper emblazoned with it, courtesy of the National Republican Congressional Committee. One congresswoman even wrapped herself with it wearing a red dress to a gala with the phrase written on the back.

The anti-President Biden mantra Lets go Brandon has morphed from an inside joke among some conservativesto virtually an unofficial motto of the Republican Party, a way to insult the administration, voice anger about its tenure and signal irritation with the media all in language designed to conceal an expletive.

Its seen by many on the right as a clever way to go after Biden and viewed as immature and offensive on the left, a reaction that has only amplified its appeal to many on the right. For a Republican Party that can be fractious, it unites factions behind an expression of distaste for the opposing partys leader, who also happens to be the president.

Unlike most successful political slogans, this one requires considerable explanation: It is a stand-in for the cruder F Joe Biden chant that has erupted at sports venues and rallies across the country. Other than a vague echo, the connection between the two phrases is not obvious, another part of its appeal.

Republicans are reveling in expressing their distaste.

Spicer said the phrase has taken on several meanings, depending on the circumstance.

Trump Yard Sign Rigged With Razor Blades Left Town Worker Needing 13 Stitches

A town employee in Michigan had to get 13 stitches after he sliced three fingers on razor blades attached to the bottom of a Trump 2020 campaign yard sign.

The 52-year-old municipal employee in Commerce Township, about 40 miles northwest of Detroit, was asked to remove signs that violated a city ordinance, the Oakland County Sheriffs Office said in a news release. Signs are required to be 33 feet from the center of roadways, and a political sign in the yard of a home was 9 feet too close to the street.

When he went to remove one of the signs, he was cut by razor blades that had been attached to the bottom edge of the sign, the sheriffs office said. Both signs removed from that location had several razor blades taped all along the bottom edge. He received lacerations to three fingers which required medical attention.

Commerce Township Supervisor Dave Scott told NBC affiliate WDIV in Detroit that his employee initially thought he had been electrified and then looked at his hand and saw that he was bleeding aggressively.

The man drove himself to a hospital where he received 13 stitches in his fingers. Scott said he was angry about the incident.

Why would someone set a booby-trap sign to harm someone? A child could have picked it up, he told the outlet.

The sheriffs office is investigating the incident, and according to WDIV, officials in the township said they may seek legal action over the incident.

The Evolution Of The Presidential Yard Sign

TRUMP PENCE KEEP AMERICA GREAT 2020 (18" x 24" ) Yard Sign, Quantity ...

Lets get something out of the way first: For anyone out there who doesnt love yard signs, they remain a necessity, even at the top of the ballot in presidential years.

In national contests, signs are an important mechanism for a candidates strong supporters to proclaim their preference. In battleground areas, they can help create a sense of enthusiasm for backers. And this cycle, theyre providing presidential hopefuls another source for a small-dollar contribution with both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton selling them online.

Stylistically speaking, yard signs havent changed a ton over the years. Fonts have remained set on either serif or semi-serif. Color schemes have stayed predominantly red, white and blue with a rectangular shape. But there are certainly some changes that have occurred in the last two decades. By observing these presidential cycle shifts, we can see an evolution thats occurred in the industry.

‘this Is The Heart Of The Progressive Movement’

Sara Finger, head of the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health, was overjoyed to become the custodian of the sign and its message. The words aren’t trademarked, but Joiner’s design is. On Cafe Press and Zazzle, the group’s official store offers all the merch you might expect including the latest bestseller for the COVID-19 age, face masks.

“We’ve generated at least $130,000 in revenue” from its message, Finger estimates. Which is a big deal for a tiny organization where Finger manages payroll, social media, and lobbying. “Kindness is Everything funds are everything for us,” she says.

Unfortunately, there are many more versions being sold that don’t benefit Finger’s organization. This one on Look Human, for example, is unauthorized. As is the bestselling sign on Amazon, which is sold by a tiny Portland company called Signs of Justice but given the company’s own inspiring story , Finger elected not to take action. Only once has she called in a lawyer, who worked pro bono for a couple of months to help get an Etsy seller to stop profiting from an exact replica.

Which is not to say that Finger is happy to let every other instance of its appearance go. When Oprah was going door to door with Stacey Abrams, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Georgia in 2018, the pair came across the sign and had their picture taken with it. “We said ‘oh, gosh darn it, we could have gotten some credit,'” says Finger.
