Arizonas candidates for governor appeared on CBS Face the Nation morning news show Sunday, just hours ahead of Trumps visit to the state.

The former president wasnt the focus of the discussion instead, Democratic nominee Katie Hobbs and Republican nominee Kari Lake discussed their plans for border security, abortion and other issues, including Hobbs refusal to debate Lake.

The interviews, conducted separately and aired back to back, might be the closest equivalent to a debate a national audience will see this cycle. They highlighted the stylistic and policy differences of two women locked in a nationally watched race that most polls say is tied.

Lake has shifted from praising a near-total ban on abortion to saying she will follow the law. She did so again Sunday. Arizona has two conflicting laws on the books, but a court ruling Friday has allowed a ban on abortions after 15 weeks except for in medical emergencies to prevail.

Lake told CBS news correspondent Major Garrett the law right now as it stands is Gov. Ducey’s law at 15 weeks, so we’ll follow the law, according to a transcript of the interview.

I support leaving the decision between a woman and her doctor and leaving politicians entirely out of it, Hobbs replied.

I hope that Joe Biden doesn’t fight us because then it would really look like he is on the side of the cartel, she said.

Pm: Trump Starts Speech With Familiar Topics

Former President Donald Trump wasted no time on Sunday launching into familiar grievances and a bleak image of America without him in the White House.

Citing the influx of illegal immigrants, soaring prices and arrests of people who oppose abortion, Trump hit President Joe Biden and Democrats generally for a country in turmoil.

These are incredible people. Theyre being treated like terrorists, Trump said, vaguely alluding to those who support him or conservative causes.

Nothing happens to antifa. Nothing happens to . But look at what happens to patriots. The Democrats are locking up their political opponents,” he said.

Trump put himself and his many controversies as the central evidence of Democrats abusing their power to hurt Republican opponents.

He complained of impeachment over what he again referred to a perfect phone call where he tied approval of military aid to Ukraine to that country declaring an investigation of President Joe Bidens son, Hunter Biden.

He described his conversation with Georgia election officials that is under criminal investigation an absolutely perfect phone call.

Within seconds of taking the stage, Trump had complained about the media, alluded to his baseless claims of a stolen election and hinted that more elections could lie ahead.

We won it big and we won it a second time, Trump said early on.

Pm: Republicans Rally With Katie Hobbs In Paradise Valley

Democratic candidate for governor Katie Hobbs held a brief news conference Sunday morning at Barry Goldwater Memorial Park in Paradise Valley to emphasize that Republicans should support her over rival Kari Lake.

Several members of Hobbs Republicans for Katie Hobbs Coalition gathered with her at the park, which celebrates the states conservative icon who died in 1998 following five terms as a U.S. senator.

Karie Dozer, a former spokesman for the late state Attorney General Grant Woods, said Goldwater would be shaking his head in disgust at how crazy Republican politics have become.

Kari Lake is dangerous for Arizona, said Mesa Mayor John Giles, and thats why he a Republican was at the park with Hobbs and not at Trumps rally in Mesa on Sunday.

Those of us who support Secretary Hobbs care very deeply about the future of Arizona, he said. And thats why we are putting our state above our party.

Monica Villalobos, president and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, describing herself as a former Republican, emphasized that the nation has moved forward under Biden.

She didnt leave the party, she said it left her when it began running candidates operating from places of hatred, hubris and hostility rather than honesty, humility and humanity.

Lakes entire platform boils down into being a sore loser, she said.

Other Republicans at the event included former Scottsdale Mayor Sam Campana and former state legislator Steve May.

The Last Day Of Early Voting In Georgia Saw Long Lines An Unexpected Endorsement And A Big Retirement

ATLANTA Georgias last day of early voting was arguably the busiest of the states entire election season, marked not only by a high volume of voters at the polls but also by a surprise endorsement and a major retirement.

The endorsement was for Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, and the surprise was that it came from a Democrat: Kwanza Hall, a well-known former congressman in the state who ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor earlier this year.

The announcement alarmed and frustrated many Georgia Democrats who saw the move as a swipe at Stacey Abrams, the partys nominee for governor who endorsed Mr. Halls opponent Charlie Bailey during the Democratic primary. Mr. Bailey later defeated Mr. Hall in a runoff election.

While we dont agree on every issue, its abundantly clear that Brian Kemp is a man of character, a strong leader, and someone who Georgians can trust to put them and their interests first, Mr. Hall said in a statement. Governor Kemps door has always been open to those who have Georgias best interests at heart, regardless of politics, and thats why Im proud to support him in his bid for re-election.

He also threw his support behind Burt Jones, the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor.

Mr. Halls endorsement of Mr. Kemp, some Democrats argued, could interfere with their efforts to stoke enthusiasm among the partys base of Black voters that Democrats need to turn out en masse in order to win on Tuesday.

Pm: Trump Lake Supporters Travel From Arizona Out Of State

As the prayer, pledge of allegiance and national anthem began shortly before 1:30 p.m., attendees were still streaming into the dirt lot at Bell Bank Park. Seats were filled in the relatively small area of floor seating and risers around the speaking platform.

After the national anthem, a chant of USA, USA, USA rose through the crowd. Many wore Trump attire, some wore anti-Biden clothes, and lots wore red, white and blue apparel, including a few people draped in American or Arizona flags.

A few people were carried out on stretchers it was a hot and sunny afternoon.

Were just real Trump people, said Ann-Marie Villicana, who drove from Pasadena, California, on Saturday to see Trump on Sunday.

Villicana said she founded LA Trump and was a delegate from California in 2016. One of her friends is working with Lake so she came out to show support.

Since we havent been able to get out to Arizona to help Kari Lake, we thought the least we could do was donate money, get great seats, she said. She and Robin Salzer had VIP seats.

People are just fed up and I think thats why you see the enthusiasm at these rallies, Salzer said. You see the enthusiasm of every demographic, regardless of race, gender, creed, even sexual persuasion, people are just fed up with the way this countrys going.

Kathy Schafer of Chandler voted for Trump and is a big supporter but said she hadnt gone to one of his events until Sunday.

Former President Donald J. Trumps final run of midterm campaign rallies includes stops in Ohio and Pennsylvania, both key Senate battlegrounds. But a third event in Florida, where Republicans are heavily favored, will instead highlight the partys political tensions as it looks to the 2024 presidential election.

A Trump rally in Miami on Sunday was scheduled to support Senator Marco Rubio, who is seeking a third term. But while polls show Mr. Rubio as a strong favorite, the rally has instead focused attention on Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is holding an event of his own elsewhere in the state on the same day. Mr. DeSantis is widely viewed as the leading Republican alternative to Mr. Trump in the partys bid to recapture the White House.

Mr. Trump and Mr. DeSantis have both downplayed suggestions of any rivalry between them, but the two men have struggled to play nicely in recent weeks. And the comparisons will be unavoidable on Sunday when they are scheduled to hold competing campaign rallies in their home state.

Trump Is Returning To Pennsylvania As Races For Senate And Governor Draw National Attention

Former President Donald Trump will rally on the Saturday before the Nov. 8 general election for Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano in Latrobe.

Pennsylvanias statewide elections, especially the contest for an open U.S. Senate seat, are drawing national media attention.

A visit from Donald Trump is sure to intensify that focus.

The former president, and potential contender for the 2024 Republican nomination, will return on the Saturday before the Nov. 8 general election to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, where he is to host a rally for Mehmet Oz, the celebrity television doctor running for Senate, and Doug Mastriano, the state senator running for governor.

Trump endorsed both men just before the primary in May. As with all Trump productions, the rally is certain to be just as much about him and the lies he continues to tell about the results of the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania as it is the candidates on the ballot.

Trump held a rally at the airport in September 2020, two months before he lost Pennsylvania by about 80,000 votes.

The two statewide races are on very different tracks.

Oz has narrowed the gap with the Democratic nominee, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman. Two averages of polling compiled by the website RealClearPolitics and showed the race in a statistical dead heat Friday.

Trump Lawyer Says He Will Be Reinstated As President If Gop Win Midterms

Christina Bobb, an attorney who has supported Donald Trumps legal challenge to overturn the 2020 election, has suggested a scenario in which the former president could be reinstated after the midterm elections in November.

Bobb told the conservative news outlet the Right Side Broadcasting Network what she thought could happen in states in which there was evidence that Joe Biden cheated in the election Trump and his allies have continuously claimed was fraudulent.

They could withdraw their electors, or they could actually decide to award Trump electors, although I would anticipate they will probably just withdraw the electors, she said.

If that happens from three different states, three different resolutions go into Congress, she said it would then be up to Congress to decide whether they want to accept the resolutions, whether they want to act on them or not.

It is a complex issue that needs to be handled complexly by different state legislators and U.S. Congress, I actually think that its designed well, because you dont want this to be something that you can quickly easily overturn elections, she said.

It needs to be something that you need many, many elected officials to take action on, and the majority of three different legislators.

The investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller resulted in 37 indictments or guilty pleas including against 26 Russians and three Russian companies, as summarized by Vox. A redacted report written by Muellers office detailed how the Russians carried out an extensive social media campaign and targeted cyberattacks against Clinton and the Democratic Party committees to damage Clinton and help Trump.

Trump Endorses New Hampshire Candidate

Politico recently noted that New Hampshire had not been receiving enough love from the Republican Party claiming Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., former Vice President Mike Pence and even former President Donald Trump as missing from the state, though the report noted that Trump had endorsed both the Republican House candidates.

The former president may have caught on, and on Monday he formally endorsed New Hampshire Senate candidate Don Bolduc, potentially giving Republicans a push in a key Senate election, per The New York Times.

General Don Bolduc has run a great campaign to be the U.S. Senator from the beautiful State of New Hampshire. He was a strong and proud Election Denier, a big reason that he won the Nomination, but he then disavowed, Trump said in a Truth Social post.

He has since come back, at least on busing, but that is only a small part of N.H. Election Fraud. Nevertheless, Don Bolduc has asked for my Endorsement, and hes got it, Complete & Total. His opponent is a disaster on Crime, the Border, Inflation, & all else. Vote for Don Bolduc!

According to The Hill, Bolduc has welcomed this support. A Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll found that Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan is leading by 9 percentage points.

How Many Ballots Have Already Been Cast

Data from election officials indicate that as of Oct. 30, more than 20 million preelection ballots had been cast, according to CNN.

Over 2 million ballots have been cast in three states Texas, Florida, and California already as Georgia and North Carolina catch up, per the report.

According to BBC, a majority of experts expect voter turnout to at least match, if not surpass, the 2020 presidential election.
