Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s White House Run Ended With Sharp Income Drop

WASHINGTON More than 40 percent of White House staffers earn in excess of $100,000 a year, according to new salary details released Friday. And some of the wealthiest aides to President Donald Trump aren’t paid at all.

A White House staff salary document shows that 22 of Trump’s aides, including some of the best-known to the public, are earning $179,700.

They include chief strategist Steve Bannon, chief of staff Reince Priebus, press secretary Sean Spicer and senior counselor Kellyanne Conway.

Also making $179,000: Omarosa Manigault, the former “Apprentice” contestant who serves as director of communications for White House office of public liaison and social media director Dan Scavino.

Several of the president’s closest aides are choosing not to take a salary. Among those forgoing pay are Trump’s daughter Ivanka, identified in the official document as “first daughter and adviser to the president,” and son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.

A presidential assistant for intragovernmental and technology initiatives, Reed Cordish, is also going unpaid. He too comes from a real estate family.

Other aides such as Gary Cohn, formerly a top executive at Goldman Sachs, are working at a steep discount of $30,000.

The highest-paid staffer appears to be senior policy adviser Mark House, who is making $187,100 a year, according to the 16-page document.

The White House has been required to report the salaries and staff titles to Congress every year since 1995.

Former President Donald Trumps Daughter Ivanka Trump Who Served As An Adviser To Him In The White House Said It Was A Pretty Heated Phone Conversation About Mike Pences Role In The Electoral Vote Certification In The Senate

Ivanka Trump told investigators for the Jan. 6 House committee that she was saddened by an Oval Office phone call she overheard in which her father tried unsuccessfully to convince Vice President Mike Pence to help overturn their election loss.

Former President Donald Trumps daughter, who served as an adviser to him in the White House, said it was a pretty heated phone conversation about Pences role in the electoral vote certification in the Senate.

A transcript of her testimony to the committee investigating last years assault on the US Capitol was among more than 30 released Friday night. Also released was the testimony of former Attorney General William Barr, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and one of Donald Trumps election attorneys, Sidney Powell.

Pence ultimately refused to reject electoral votes as then-President Donald Trump wanted him to do.

There appeared to be a discussion over what the Vice Presidents rights were in his position and obligations in his position presiding over the Senate, Ivanka Trump told the committee.

It was a different tone that I had heard him take with the Vice President before, she said. It saddened me to see them having a disagreement. They had been very consistently on the same page.

They decided to have a conference call with the then Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mike Stenger to talk about it. The decision was to not accept the offer.

Ivanka Trump And Jared Kushner Distance Themselves From The Former President And His Constant Complaints

With each passing day away from Washington, former President Donald Trumps grievances continue unabated. And those complaints appear to be driving away two of the people who were closest to him during his White House tenure: his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Sometimes the former President complains for several hours about the stolen 2020 election. Other times, his frustrations emerge in fits and starts more likely when he is discussing his hopeful return to national politics. And while he often has a rotating audience of cheering listeners, the gap between Trump and his daughter and son-in-law grows wider by the week, according to 12 former Trump White House officials, former administration officials, family friends, acquaintances and members of Trumps team who spoke with CNN about changes to the former Presidents current inner circle.

A large part of the reason for the separation is Trumps constant harping on the past and his inability to move on. The former President has also started to question the role that Kushner one of the few people who were able to stay close to Trump throughout his two presidential campaigns and White House tenure has played in his presidential legacy.

They werent around for the usual spring and summer events at Mar-a-Lago, says one clubgoer and family friend, noting the absence of Trumps elder daughter and the couples three young children.

Some Choose To Forgo A Salary

The White House releases staffers’ salaries every year, and while top White House employees are attracted by the prestige, not the pay, plenty of them still make a pretty penny.

Here are the salaries of some of the administration’s most recognizable staffers. Some, like advisers Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, do not take a salary.

Fact Check: Did Ivanka Trump And Jared Kushner Make $640m In White House

We Need to Talk About Ivanka Trumps White House Office

As the Joe Biden administration contends with new controversies surrounding the president’s son, Hunter, left-leaning pundits have hit back, highlighting several well-documented financial scandals involving Donald Trump‘s family members.

Alleged leaks from Hunter Biden’s iCloud account have recently given Republican and pro-Trump supporters new material to further undermine Joe Biden’s integrity.

However, many consider this slew of attacks a poor cousin to allegations that Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner, have faced previously.

The Claim

A tweet, sent on July 14, 2022, states that Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner earned $640 million while working in the White House.

The tweet, which has received more than 17,000 engagements, also says that Kushner earned an extra $2 billion from Saudi connections as part of a “cover-up” of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made $640 million while working in daddy Trumps administration, and after leaving the White House, Kushner got $2 billion from Saudi Crown Prince MBS for covering up Jamal Khashoggis murder. That is what corruption looks like. Not some laptop.

The Facts

The wealth that Kushner and Ivanka earned from outside income while Donald Trump was president has been laid bare by a number of journalists.

Trump And Allies Thought He Couldnt Have Lost Because Of His Large Rallies Transcript Shows

Sidney Powell, a conspiracy-peddling attorney who helped Trumps attempts to overturn the 2020 election, said Trump and his allies believed he couldnt have lost because of his large rallies and common sense, according to a transcript of her deposition to the January 6 committee released Friday.

She said that was the consensus in the room at a White House meeting that she attended with Trump, just a few days after the election. She told the committee that Trumps then-attorney Rudy Giuliani was also there along with White House aides, according to the transcript.

He wanted to know the truth, Powell said, referring to Trump. And our general consensus was that the vast majority of people had poured out in support of the President. The rallies indicated that. All the information that we had indicated that. And the numbers that we saw on election night simply didnt jibe with common sense.

She also claimed math geniuses reached out to her to tell her that Joe Bidens victory was statistically impossible.

The testimony shows just how paper-thin the fraud theories emanating from Trumps orbit actually were.

Despite her assertions, there is no evidence that the outcome of the 2020 election was tainted by widespread fraud or vote-rigging. Many of the conspiracies Powell has promoted about the election have been thoroughly debunked.

Jared Kushner And Ivanka Trump Are Taking Inappropriate White House Salaries

Somebody might need to contact the Office of Government Ethics, because this is outrageous.

Already before the inauguration there were grumblings that Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, would unfairly benefit from Donald Trumps presidency in other words, nepotism in the highest office in the land.

Well, it is true that Ivanka and her husband landed top tier positions as special advisers to the president.

But that has a lot to do with their individual talents, and the fact that theyre some of the few people in the world Trump feels he can trust unconditionally.

Also, for this to truly be nepotism, Ivanka and Jared Kushner would have to be personally benefitting from the arrangement in some way.

The thing is, while both are putting in long hours in service to the American public, they are being paid NOTHING.

Thats right, in accordance with annual reporting requirements, the White House has published the salaries of its staff.

There are 25 special aides in the White House at present. Most are making the standard annual salary of $180,000.

But Ivanka and Jared Kushner? Theyre both taking home the grand total of $0.00.

President Barack Obama’s former director of writers for presidential correspondence, Fiona Reeves, told Slate that she used to read 200 to 400 letters from the general public every day. She would then choose ten of those letters to be included in the president’s evening briefing book. Reeves would also have to channel Obama’s voice to answer some of the letters.

The Trump name may be synonymous with obscene wealth, but working in the West Wing doesnt seem to be a profitable activity for Ivanka Trump. The 36-year-old is working as a White House advisor for her father, President Donald Trump, but her annual salary in that position is a big fat zero.

According to The Associated Press, Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner chose not to take a salary in the White House. Presidential assistant Reed Cornish, another real estate heir, has also forgone pay and Gary Cohn, a former Goldman Sachs executive, is only taking a salary of $30,000 for his work as a White House aide.

The White House is required to report its salaries and titles of its staff to Congress every year, which is how we know some people are earning six-figure salaries at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In fact, as of July 2017, 40 percent of White House staffers were earning $100,000 or more. Additionally, 22 aides were earning $179,000 including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer, and former Apprentice contestant Omarosa Manigault.

Of course, neither Ivanka nor her father needs White House money to be filthy rich. Ivanka, for example, earned at least $13.5 million in income over a recent 17-month period, according to CNN. After all, that designer wardrobe of hers certainly isnt paying for itself!

Ivanka Trump And Jared Kushner Have Reportedly Cut Ties With Donald Trump

In her latest interview with Msnbc, which came as more Republicans continue to distance themselves from the former Potus, the 57-year-old psychologist revealed that the 76-year-old former president’s daughter Ivanka Trump, 41, and son-in-law Jared Kushner, also 41, are among the people distancing themselves from him, and have now cut ties with him because he is “losing value.”

She also went on to say that the couple, who served as Trump’s senior advisors when he was in the White House, now realize that he has “damaged them, at least socially,” and they want to remove themselves from him and politics in general as a result.

We already knew that Ivanka was going to be taking a back seat during her father’s third presidential run, telling the public that she is choosing to focus on her husband and children this time round, but Mary has now gone into more detail into her cousin’s decision, saying that both she and Jared “finally realized that they gain more by staying away from Donald than they do by staying aligned with him.”

“Donald is definitely losing value in terms of the party, and in terms of politics generally. And Ivanka and Jared are legitimately wealthy people apart from whatever Donald is doing, so they don’t need him to the same degree they might have,” she added.

Jared And Ivanka Don’t Take Any Salary

Coming to Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, who also serves as an adviser to the president, the mother-of-three famously does not take a penny for her service to the government. Just like is wife, Jared Kushner — also a senior adviser to the president — does not get paid for lending his services to the administration. Despite not holding salaried positions, the couple came under fire in 2018, after a report said that they made at least $82 million in outside income while working as White House advisers.

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesperson for the couple’s attorney Abbe Lowell, told the Washington Post that Kushner and Ivanka’s net worth has not substantially changed during their time at the White House. “Since joining the administration, Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics,” he said, Newsweek reported. “As to the current filing which OGE also reviews, their net worth remains largely the same, with changes reflecting more the way the form requires disclosure than any substantial difference in assets or liabilities.”

As for the president himself, Trump receives an annual salary of $400,000, which is broken up into $100,000 for travel, $50,000 for expenses and $19,000 for entertainment. The salary structure for the POTUS as remained largely unchanged since 2001. Trump donates his salary every quarter to various federal agencies.
