But hovering over the entire poll is a deep dissatisfaction from the American public.
Three-quarters of voters 74% say the country is headed in the wrong direction, representing the fifth-straight NBC News survey showing this number in the 70s.
Additionally, 58% believe Americas best days are behind it, which is the highest percentage on this question dating back to 1990.
Another 68% of voters think the United States is currently in an economic recession.
And six in 10 61% say theyre so upset by something that theyre willing to carry a protest sign for an entire day.
Asked what their protest sign would say, the top responses among Democratic voters are Womens rights, Equal rights, Prosecute Trump and Abortion rights.
And the top responses among Republican voters are Impeach Biden, Protect our freedom, Protect 2nd Amendment, and Stop Democrats.
The NBC News poll was conducted Aug. 12-16 of 1,000 registered voters including 750 reached by cell phone and it has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.
Politico Poll: Donald Trump Holds Greater Favorability Than Joe Biden
Former President Donald Trump has a greater favorability than President Joe Biden, according to Wednesdays Politico/Morning Consult poll.
While more voters defined themselves as Democrats by three percentage points , the poll revealed Trump has a greater favorability rating among voters than Biden. Trump holds 42 percent favorability, while the current president has sunk to 41 percent, down more than six points since last year.
Furthermore, Bidens disapproval rating is greater than Trumps. Fifty-seven percent of voters hold a negative view of Biden, while Trumps negative favorability rating is two points better at 56 percent.
The former presidents favorability rating is also greater than Vice President Kamala Harris , Sen. Chuck Schumer , Rep. Nancy Pelosi , and Sen. Mitch McConnell .
Bidens favorability rating has sunk in recent months. In April, the presidents favorability was 45 percent, while Trumps was 41 percent, a four point spread. In December, Bidens approval rating was 46 percent. Trumps was 44 percent. In October, the formers favorability was 47 percent, while the latter was at 43 percent.
The presidents overall approval rating was marked at 39 percent with only 16 percent strongly approving. Politicos mark of Bidens approval rating is higher than other polls. On Sunday, Civiqs rolling average put it at 32 percent, matching an all-time low.
The poll sampled 2004 voters from June 24-26 with a 2 point margin of error.
A Poll That Should Scare Donald Trump
A new poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire has some startling news for Donald Trump: Heâs no longer the big dog on the block .
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis takes 39% in a poll of the Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire, while Trump is at 37%. No other potential GOP contender manages double-digit support, with former Vice President Mike Pence in third place at 9%.
Thatâs a MAJOR change from where the race was last fall. A UNH poll in October 2021 showed Trump with 43% to DeSantisâ 18%.
Another interesting nugget from the poll: Just 6 in 10 self-identified Republicans want the former President to run again in 2024. Which is, well, sort of low?
Now, this is just one poll in a state expected to be one of the first to vote in the 2024 primary season. If you look at all the polling done in the broader Republican White House race, Trump still leads in the preponderance of it. And he would start a third bid for president as the favorite for the GOP nomination.
But itâs become increasingly clear that the primary race is no longer properly understood as Trump and everyone else, but rather Trump, DeSantis and everyone else.
And DeSantis has been, for a while now, acting less dependent on Trump.
As Politico reported Wednesday: âAccording to four people connected to the governor and former president, DeSantis has not asked Trump for a formal endorsement and isnât planning to.â

Trumps Survival After Scandals
More than a year and a half since Trump left office, 58 percent of Americans hold an unfavorable view of him, according to this latest poll. That includes 89 percent of Democrats and 63 percent of independents. But 83 percent of Republicans say they still favor Trump, along with roughly a third of all Americans.
Trumps favorability among the GOP outpaces that of a handful of other Republicans who are considered potential rivals for a White House bid in 2024:
According to GOP strategist and conservative pollster Whit Ayres, most Republicans are also open to having a new candidate who carries less baggage than they believe Trump carries as their nominee in 2024.
It all depends on who the alternatives are, Ayres said. Most alternatives arent nationally known here.
Trumps political resilience is unlike anything else in U.S. presidential history, said Jeffrey Engel, who directs the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
As with everything with Donald Trump, history gives us no guide, Engel said.
One comparison is tough to ignore, though todays political dynamics are nearly opposite. In 1974, after an investigation uncovered that President Richard Nixons reelection campaign had bugged the phones at the Democratic National Committee headquarters, Nixon resigned in disgrace before he could be impeached. He retreated from public life and partially rebuilt his reputation in foreign policy during the decades that followed, Engel said.

Attitudes on whether Americans think Trump is responsible for the attack on the U.S. Capitol remain relatively stable. In the new ABC News/Ipsos poll, 58% of Americans think Trump bears a great deal or a good amount of responsibility for the attack on the Capitol. This is unchanged from an ABC News/Ipsos poll in December 2021 and similar to the findings of an ABC News/Washington Post poll conducted just after the attack in January 2021.
The poll divides along party lines, with 91% of Democrats thinking Trump should be charged with a crime compared to 19% of Republicans. On whether Trump bears a great deal or a good amount of responsibility for the attack, 91% of Democrats and 21% of Republicans say he does.
Among self-described independents, 62% think Trump should be charged and 61% think he bears a great deal or a good amount of responsibility.
The ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted after the committee held its third of seven public hearings scheduled for this month, which detail what the committee says was a sophisticated, seven-part plan by Trump and his supporters to overturn his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden.
On Friday, Trump lambasted the hearing, calling the panel con artists, while continuing to air false claims about the 2020 election.

Americas global image plummeted following the election of President Donald Trump, amid widespread opposition to his administrations policies and a widely shared lack of confidence in his leadership. Now, as the second anniversary of Trumps election approaches, a new 25-nation Pew Research Center survey finds that Trumps international image remains poor, while ratings for the United States are much lower than during Barack Obamas presidency.
The poll also finds that international publics express significant concerns about Americas role in world affairs. Large majorities say the U.S. doesnt take into account the interests of countries like theirs when making foreign policy decisions. Many believe the U.S. is doing less to help solve major global challenges than it used to. And there are signs that American soft power is waning as well, including the fact that, while the U.S. maintains its reputation for respecting individual liberty, fewer believe this than a decade ago.
Even though Americas image has declined since Trumps election, on balance the U.S. still receives positive marks across the 25 nations polled, a median of 50% have a favorable opinion of the U.S., while 43% offer an unfavorable rating. However, a median of only 27% say they have confidence in President Trump to do the right thing in world affairs 70% lack confidence in him.

Poll: Fewer Than Half Of Republican Primary Voters Would Support Trump In 2024
Just over half of Republicans likely to vote in their party’s 2024 presidential primary say that they would prefer someone other than former President Donald Trump as the party’s presidential candidate, a poll released on Tuesday by The New York Times and Siena College found.
After identifying Republicans likely to vote in the primary, the survey gave respondents a choice between Trump and five other potential GOP nominees. Only 49% of respondents chose Trump, despite the fact that the former president carried 94% of all Republican votes in the 2020 election, which he lost to current President Joe Biden.
Trump’s closest challenger was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who was chosen by 25% of respondents. Other potential candidates included Texas Senator Ted Cruz Trump’s one-time running mate, former Vice President Mike Pence former South Carolina governor and Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo .
Is Trump vulnerable?
The biggest question raised by the poll is whether it indicates that Trump might be vulnerable to a challenge in the Republican primary elections in 2024. Experts said that the results should be read with caution.
While Trump’s lack of a clear majority in the poll may raise some eyebrows, “He’s still pretty far ahead,” Kyle Kondik, managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, told VOA.

Germany: A sharp negative turn in the Trump era
Germany stands out as a country where Americas image is considerably more negative today than during the Barack Obama era. Whereas Obama was extremely popular in Germany , only around one-in-ten Germans have voiced confidence in Trump in each of the past two years, ratings similar to those registered for George W. Bush at the end of his second term. Germany stands out on other measures as well. Mexico is where Trump gets his lowest ratings on the survey: Just 6% in the United States southern neighbor have confidence in him. Last year, more than nine-in-ten Mexicans opposed Trumps plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. This year, 66% in Mexico say relations have gotten worse over the past 12 months.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Plunges To Lowest Point In Over A Year: Poll
Donald Trump’s positive approval rating is at its lowest point in more than a year, whereas President Joe Biden is seeing his highest score in months, according to a poll.
A survey released by NBC News found that Trump currently has a 54 percent negative approval rating, with a 34 percent positive approval.
Trump had the same 54 percent negative approval rating in an August NBC News poll, but with a slightly higher positive approval of 36 percent.
In comparison, Trump also had a 36 percent positive approval rating in May and March 2022, 37 percent in January 2022, and 38 percent in August and October 2021.
The former president’s overall favorability rating of 54 percent positive and 34 percent negative has not been as low since an April 2021 NBC poll, when he recorded 55 percent negative and 32 percent positive numbers.
The poll also found that while Biden’s overall approval rating is still underwater, he is currently seeing the highest positive score in nearly a year.
Biden’s latest NBC favorability rating has him at 45 percent positiveup 3 points from last month and the highest it has been since October 2021and 52 percent negative.
Elsewhere, the poll revealed that voters are currently split when asked who they back in the midterms, with the GOP and Democrat Party at 46 percent when voters asked who they believe should control Congress.
China Seen As A Rising Power
Respondents to the survey were read a list of seven major nations, and for each one, were asked whether they think it is playing a more important, less important, or as important of a role in the world compared with 10 years ago. Among the seven countries tested, China stands apart: A median of 70% across the nations polled say Beijing plays a more important role today than a decade ago. Half or more in 23 of 25 countries express this view.
Many also say this about Russia. A median of 42% believe Moscows role on the world stage has grown over the past decade, and majorities hold this view in Greece, Israel, Tunisia and Russia itself. Overall, people are split on whether Germanys role is greater than it was 10 years ago or about the same, but many in Europe see Germanys role as more influential. On the other hand, Europeans are particularly likely to think the UK is less important now.
There is no real consensus in views of Americas prominence in world affairs. A median of 35% believe it is as important as it was 10 years ago, while 31% say it is more important and 25% say less. Japan is the only country with a majority saying that Washington plays a less important role. Meanwhile, Israelis, Nigerians and Kenyans are particularly likely to think the U.S. is more important than it used to be.

Biden Or Trump In 2024 Many Americans Say Neither
Despite the positive result for Biden, it appears many citizens would actually prefer neither Trump nor Biden to run for a second term, according to a poll conducted by Yahoo News and YouGov earlier this month.
The poll, which was done between July 28-August 1, found that 58% of participants believe Trump should not run again and 66% said the same about Biden.
In fact, a majority of people believed it would be “the worst” if a rematch took place between Biden and Trump in 2024, according to the Yahoo News/YouGov poll.
And when asked who was a worse president, 45% of participants said Trump while 44% said Biden a very small difference.
But once again, similar to The Journals poll, people said they would rather vote for Biden over Trump if there are no other options.
Neither man has formally announced an intention to run in 2024, but both are widely expected to.
Some Biden observers see the president, who came out of political retirement because he believed himself best able to take on Trump in 2020, as less likely to seek reelection if his predecessor ultimately opts not to run.
If Biden runs, hell have to level with voters about his age convincing them hes really up for a second term that wouldnt end until hed be 86. Still, Cedric Richmond, one of Bidens closest White House advisers, told The Associated Press such discussions could actually help Biden.
