JOEMKBest Place to Stay on FMBThere is no better place to stay at FMB than the Cottages of Paradise Point. Weve been here 7 times over the last few years and have stayed in three different cottages. They are extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and supplied with everything you will need for a beach vacation. The kitchen is well stocked and the linens and towels are of a high quality. Even the lounge chairs provided to use at the beach are of excellent quality. Umbrellas for the deck and beach are not provided but you can purchase from Walmart or we rented from Shaded Rentals who deliver and pick up and are of better quality than you might buy at Walmart. The cottages are on the north end of FMB so away from the crowds in the Time Square area but close enough to walk to eat and shop. What makes staying here even better are Dennis, the owner, and Sharon who are both warm, welcoming, and accommodating. They make our stays all the more wonderful and relaxing.

Located on the historic Patriots Point, the Cottages on Charleston Harbor is a waterfront resort perfect for families and vacations. The rent structure is designed to provide Patriots Point part of the financial upside of the project, according to its attorney, Bill Craver.
Bennett began monthly lease payments two years ago based on fair market rent of just over $20,000, which has since risen to $38,000 based on an annual escalation formula, Craver said.
The value of Patriots Annex also will be assessed by Charleston County, but instead of property taxes, the development will pay a fee to the county and the town.
Bennett Hospitality controls other holdings at Patriots Point, including 10 waterfront rental cottages near Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. In 2018, the firm took over the lease to the 18-hole Patriots Point Links Golf Course.
Nearby, Bennett’s mixed-use Ferry Wharf complex on privately owned land near the Ravenel Bridge includes an office building, hotel, apartments and retail space.
Bennett and his firm also own numerous hotel and restaurant holdings across the Charleston area, including the eight-story Hotel Bennett, which opened on Marion Square in 2019.

Navy Submarine Clamagore Towed From Patriots Point To Be Scrapped
“Apartments are not the driving force behind this,” said Mac Burdette, interim director of Patriots Point. “We didn’t want any large residential buildings, but we did want some upstairs living space.”
McMaster called the eight years to get to the point of breaking ground “not easy” as “there were some tough times.”
“This project is going to be wonderful. … The larger importance of this is to ground this for generations to come,” he said.
Much of the site where the planned development will be built is currently a 600-space parking lot for the maritime museum.
Burdette said a new parking area must be built before any other construction can begin. Land is currently being cleared near a roundabout off Patriots Point Road for it. Bennett said he expects the work to take about a year. At that point, he’ll submit plans for construction of the first building.
The development will be built in a three-tiered system, with height limits of 50 feet near the waterfront, 65 feet in the middle of the parcel and 80 feet in a smaller section farthest from the harbor.
“I think it was a good decision by the town to do it that way,” Burdette said.

Beautiful and comfortable property. Very convenient to town
The location was perfect. It was nice having the golf course nearby and to be able to walk to the water taxi and take advantage of the bikes. We all loved the porch overlooking the water. Also loved the pool, it was very private and relaxing.

The location was extremely convenient for sightseeing activities and meals. The water taxi was an easy way to get to the downtown area without the hassle of traffic and parking.

Beautiful spot feels like you are so far away from it all but really you are so close to downtown Charleston, great spots in Mt Pleasant, and Sullivan island beaches.The expansive screened porch is standout. We loved waking up over coffee to beautiful sunrises and winding down over wine at night.We brought a small toddler and it worked out perfectly as there was plenty of room for her to run around while being contained! And we had a great place to hang out and soak up the scenery after she went to bed. And use babys away to help with cribs and baby gear!!This is truly a gem of a spot.
