That said, the patriot power generator is rated for less than 240 watts of solar input meaning the most you could ever have going into the generator is two x 100 watt solar panels. Because of this, we feel as though the patriot power generator is not the most ideal option for emergency backup.

Now, Ive been seeing some Patriot Power Cell reviews out there, that are painting a negative picture. So, let me start off by saying that the Patriot Power Cell is 100% legitimate.
The folks at 4Patriots are some of the most honest and caring people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Plus they are a 100% all American company that donates to veterans. So they definitely get my seal of approval.

One of the main selling points of this power station is that it will power your fridge or freezer if the power goes out in your home. They go on and on and on about it. The people at Patriot are really into powering the hell outta fridges.They claim that this generator can power your fridge for 16.3 hours, but in practice its much less than that. For the size of the average US fridge or freezer, youd be lucky to get 6-10 hours at best.

Our Overall Impression Of The Patriot Power Generator 1800
At first glance, the Patriot Power Generator 1800 seems like a capable solar generator. It has a built-in deep cycle battery, power inverter, MPPT charge controller, and several output ports however, when you compare its actual specifications against other generators in its price range, the Patriot Power Generator falls short.
Poor Storage Capabilities and Overall Performance:
As we explained above, the battery capacity is just not there, especially not for a solar generator that comes in nearly $2,500! Granted, you also get a 100W solar panel for that price, but you will struggle to fully charge the internal battery with a solar panel with such a low power rating. On top of that, at 240 watts, the solar input rate is low, limiting your ability to expand your solar array. Worse, the shelf life is pretty dated. The truth is, you can get a solar generator with a far better battery capacity and shelf life for about half the price.
Limited Surge Protection:
Unfortunately, the Patriot Power Generators issues do not end at the battery. At just 3,048W, it also offers relatively little in terms of surge protection, which, once again, limits the number of solar panels you can connect to it. For this price, you would expect a more capable and efficient charge controller.

A 690wh battery is very small and has limited capacity, which would be acceptable if the Patriot generator battery included a way to add more batteries in order to make it last longer.
Other generator batteries are not only much more powerful but they also allow you to add more batteries to make them more efficient this includes batteries that allow you to stack batteries on top of other batteries so that you dont have to use clumsy heavy cables and attach batteries externally, which can take up a lot of space.
Other generator companies have 2000wh batteries included with their devices in addition to the ability to add more battery power to them, which makes them much more beneficial than the Patriot 1800 generator.
In a real emergency, especially one that is long-term, this could make a huge difference in how satisfied you are with your 1800 generator.
