Officials In Key Arizona County Combat Misinformation Election Security Fears A Day Before Midterms

Trump “Very Probably” Running in 2024, Oprah Announces Support for Fetterman | The Tonight Show

Officials from Arizona’s most populous county, which will help to decide some of the most closely watched midterm election races in the country on Tuesday, aimed to dispel heightened concerns about misinformation and Election Day security.

The county now has the country’s eyes on it as it faces increased threats to election workers, voter intimidation at drop boxes and heightened concerns about misleading information surrounding the midterms. Maricopa will help to decide control of the U.S. Senate, as Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly tries to defend his seat against Republican challenger Blake Masters in the chamber split evenly by party.

The nation has also watched Arizona’s race for governor, where Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs faces Republican Kari Lake, a leading proponent of Trump’s false election fraud claims.

Nancy Pelosi Reveals How She Learned Of Brutal Attack On Her Husband

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi learned that her husband Paul Pelosi had been brutally attacked last week when Capitol Police officers banged on her door at 5 a.m., she revealed in a new interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

“I look up, I see it’s 5, they must be at the wrong apartment,” Pelosi recalled thinking. But the knocks continued, “bang, bang, bang, bang, bang on the door,” she said.

“So I run to the door, and I’m very scared. I see the Capitol Police and they say, ‘We have to come in to talk to you,'” Pelosi recounted.

“And I’m thinking my children, my grandchildren. I never thought it would be Paul because, you know, I knew he wouldn’t be out and about, shall we say. And so they came in. At that time, we didn’t even know where he was,” she said.

Paul Pelosi was attacked on Oct. 28 by an intruder wielding a hammer who had broken into the couple’s San Francisco home. Police arrived at 2:31 a.m., and Paul Pelosi was transported to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery to repair a skull fracture.

U.S. Capitol Police first learned of the attack when they noticed squad cars and sirens on a live feed of Pelosi’s house on monitors in their Washington headquarters.

More Than 41 Million Pre

From CNN’s Ethan Cohen

More than 41 million pre-election ballots have been cast across 47 states, according to data from elections officials, Edison Research and Catalist.

Pre-election voting has been ahead of the 2018 pace across the states where data is available from for the last three cycles. However, its still too early to know if overall turnout will reach 2018 levels, as voting patterns may have changed in the last few years.

Texas still has had the most pre-election votes, with more than 5.4 million ballots cast. Florida has had more than 4.7 million ballots cast and California has more than 4.1 million. Georgia, with more than 2.5 million ballots cast, and North Carolina, with more than 2.1 million, are the only other states with more than 2 million ballots cast so far.

Some voter data comes from Catalist, a company that provides data, analytics and other services to Democrats, academics and nonprofit issue-advocacy organizations and is giving insights into who is voting before November.

Pennsylvania Senate Gop Candidate Oz Calls Fetterman More Radical Than Joe Biden

Democratic Senate nominee Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is “even more radical than Joe Biden,” Republican challenger Dr. Mehmet Oz said on Fox News.

“What I’m hearing is folks are upset that Washington keeps getting it wrong with radical positions,” Oz said. “I’ve been arguing that I stand for balance. I’ll cut through bipartisan bickering, I know how to bring solutions to the forefront, and that’s what people want. They’re angry, they’re frustrated, what they desire is hope.”

Oz added that he thinks the Democrats have “no real agenda for prosperity. That we’re not actually going anywhere with the current Biden agenda and Biden is is more moderate than Fetterman.”

Fetterman and Oz are engaged in one of the most closely-watched races in the country that will help determine which party will control the Senate. Fetterman has been outspoken about issues like ending the filibuster to protect voting rights and protecting reproductive healthcare access.

Fetterman’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Icymi: Trump Settles Tomato Lawsuit

Dlisted

Former president Donald Trump has quietly settled a lawsuit against him by protesters who were allegedly beaten by his private security staff in the days after he announced his first presidential campaign in 2016.

Attorneys for both Mr Trump and the protesters told NBC News that the case had been settled just as a jury was being selected for trial in a Brooklyn courtroom.

The lawyer who represented the protesters, Benjamin Dictor, said the settlement represented an incredible day for his clients, who he described as lifelong activists in the community who stood up to defend the right to speech on the public sidewalk and have litigated for seven years.

Today, the matter was resolved on terms that they are very, very happy with, he added.

Andrew Feinberg has more.

Doj Officials Agree To ‘stay Outside’ Of Missouri Polling Sites After Complaint From Secretary Of State

The Justice Department said officials visiting polling sites in Missouri as part of its routine mission to ensure election integrity will “remain outside” after the state’s secretary posted a complaint on Twitter.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft posted a Nov. 3 email to his Twitter account Sunday from Charles M. Thomas, an assistant U.S. states attorney working for the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division to Steve Korsmeyer, identified by Ashcroft as a clerk in Cole County, Mo., about the officials’ intent to monitor polls on Tuesday.

Korsmeyer had “rightfully declined to allow this over-reach,” wrote Ashcroft, a Republican. “And the secretary of state’s office fully supports him,” he added.

“While the U.S. DOJ could clearly learn a lot from Missouri about non-partisanship and how to administer accessible, secure and credible elections, it would be highly inappropriate for federal agents to violate the law by intimidating Missouri voters at the polls on Election Day,” Ashcroft wrote.

Senior Justice Department officials later told NBC that “Department of Justice staffers will visit Cole County polling sites on election day but have agreed to remain outside.”

‘no Specific Credible Threats’ Against Americans On Election Day White House Says

The White House ensured the safety of voters on Election Day, saying it hasn’t heard of any “specific credible threats.”

“Law enforcement has briefed us that there are no specific credible threats at this point,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a White House press briefing on Monday. “Americans should feel safe going to the polls. It is important for Americans to do so.”

President Joe Biden has repeatedly condemned threats of political violence ahead of the midterm elections and in wake of the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi.

“It remains important to the president to state strongly and unequivocally violence has no place in our democracy,” Jean-Pierre said, adding that Biden believes leaders of both parties have a duty to communicate that.

What Is Trumps Lawsuit Against The New York Attorney General

In January 2022, Trump canceled a press conference he had planned to hold in Florida on the anniversary of the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

In a statement released, Trump stated that he would rather air his issues at a rally scheduled for a later date.

In light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, Trump wrote.

He added, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and instead will discuss many of those important topics at my rally on Saturday, January 15th, in Arizona.

The event would have been Trumps second press conference since leaving office.

At 12.47pm ET, another statement from the former president was shared on by the Right Side Broadcasting Network.

To watch Biden speaking is very hurtful to many people, he wrote.

He acts like hes aggrieved, but were the ones who were aggrieved and America is suffering because of it.

Trump had also filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James.

The lawsuit alleges, Letitia James is guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate and retaliate against a private citizen who she views as a political opponent.

Trumps attorney, Alina Habba, added, By filing this lawsuit, we intend to not only hold her accountable for her blatant constitutional violations but to stop her bitter crusade to punish her political opponent in its tracks.

Trump Pick Jd Vance Is Confident He’ll Win Senate In Ohio

Republican venture capitalist J.D. Vance said on Fox News he is confident he will be part of the incoming U.S. Senate freshman class of U.S. senators and he expects his party to win so many seats that the White House will take notice.

“I do expect to be part of the incoming Senate majority on the Republican side,” Vance said. Vance is running in Ohio against Democratic U.S. Representative Tim Ryan for the seat made vacant by retiring Republican Senator Rob Portman.

“Joe Biden will still be president, but I actually think after the shellacking we hope to deliver tonight, I’m hoping the Biden administration will actually work with us.”

Trump Teases November 15 For Presidential Announcement

Kellyanne Conway: This is going to be a reckoning in Democratic Party #shorts

On Monday night, Donald Trump made an announcement about an announcement. At a rally for Ohio Senate hopeful and Trump ring-kisser J.D. Vance, the former president teased next week as the kickoff for his third bid for the presidency.

Not to detract from tomorrows very important, even critical, election, and I would say in the strongest way its a country-saving election Im going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, November 15, at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said, per CBS News.

Trumps plan graciously gives Americans a full week of respite between the midterm elections which have made many people want to throw their phones and TVs into the ocean and the beginning of another endless, surreal campaign from the countrys most divisive figure.

Republican leaders in particular were probably breathing a sigh of relief after Trumps comment since multiple reporters had indicated that he was thinking of announcing his run at the Vance rally which would have, characteristically, drawn as much attention as possible to himself just as his party is on the verge of midterms triumph.

Theres little doubt Trump will take another shot at the White House: As he toldNew Yorks Olivia Nuzzi this past summer, Ive already made that decision. But he has been coy about the timing. Before Monday, November 14 was thought to be the most likely date for his kickoff.

Saturday Night Live: James Austin Johnson Is New Donald Trump

Saturday Night LiveNovember 7, 2021

Tonight, Saturday Night Livedecided to introduce a new version of Donald Trump James Austin Johnson has replaced Alec Baldwin in the role.

Ultimately, when we heard Jeanine Pirro introducing Trump in the sketch at the start of the show, we actually thought that it would be Baldwin who was coming out. Yet, in the wake of the tragedy on the set of Rust, that just didnt feel right.

Instead of relying on another big name to come in and play the former President, SNL went for an in-house approach. Johnson recently played Joe Biden and now, hes taken on Trump, as well. While the Alec impression was perhaps goofier, Johnson completely nailed the voice and the cadence. He actually sounded almost identical to Trump to the point that it was disarming.

What made this impersonation work so well was the 60-second timer, a new bit where Johnsons Trump rambles on incoherently while hitting a number of weird topics. This almost felt like a brief episode of ESPNs Pardon the Interruption but with conspiracy theories and headlines left and right. Eventually, he got back to the subject at hand , at least to a certain extent.

Ultimately, Trump isnt in the headlines as much as he once was, so were not sure how often well see him.
