Donald Trump, the president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment, including non-consensual kissing or groping, by at least 25 women since the 1970s. The accusations have resulted in three instances of litigation: his then-wife Ivana made a rape claim during their 1989 divorce litigation but later recanted that claim businesswoman Jill Harth sued Trump in 1997 alleging breach of contract while also suing for sexual harassment but agreed to forfeit her sexual harassment claim as part of a settlement she received relating to the former suit and, in 2017, former The Apprentice contestant Summer Zervos filed a defamation lawsuit after Trump accused her of lying about her sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Two of the allegations became public before Trump’s candidacy for president, but the rest arose after a 2005 audio recording was leaked during the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump was recorded bragging that a celebrity like himself “can do anything” to women, including “just start kissing them … I don’t even wait” and “grab ’em by the “. Trump subsequently characterized those comments as “locker room talk” and denied actually behaving that way toward women, and he also apologized for the crude language. Many of his accusers stated that Trump’s denials provoked them into going public with their allegations.
What To Watch For
Carrolls attorneys are asking for her new lawsuit against Trump to be tried at the same time as the first defamation lawsuit she filed. A trial in that case is currently set for February, but the writer asked the court last week to push it back to April 2023 to accommodate the second case. Its also still in doubt whether Carrolls initial case will move forward at all, however, as an appeals court in Washington, D.C., is now weighing the issue of whether Trump was acting within the scope of his employment as president when he made the allegedly defamatory comments about her in 2019. If he was acting as president at the time, that would mean Carrolls case would fail, as her lawsuit would be against the United States instead of Trump as a private citizen, and the U.S. cannot be sued for defamation.
Woman Who Accused Trump Of Rape Plans To File Sexual Battery Suit
The woman who accused former President Donald Trump of raping her in the 1990s in New York City when he was a real estate developer said in a letter made public on Tuesday that she plans to file a sexual battery lawsuit under the state’s new Adult Survivors Act.
Roberta Kaplan, an attorney for journalist E. Jean Carroll, wrote in the Aug. 8 letter that Carroll plans to file a lawsuit on Nov. 24, when New York’s Adult Survivors Act goes into effect. Under the new law, between Nov. 24 this year and Nov. 23, 2023, accusers can file civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct regardless of when the alleged misconduct occurred.
Carroll has already filed a defamation claim against Trump, and Kaplan proposed in the letter that the planned Adult Survivors Act claim and that suit be tried together in February 2023. According to the letter, Carroll plans to sue Trump for sexual battery and “intentional infliction of emotional distress,” Kaplan wrote.
Trump has denied raping Carroll. Carroll is suing him for defamation for comments he made in 2019 while president, alleging that she is “totally lying” about the assault to sell a memoir, and said “she’s not my type.”
Trump’s attorney, Alina Hobba, responded in an Aug. 11 letter that the former president “wholly and adamantly objects” to combining the claims, and wrote that “two additional causes of action-namely, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress-would be extraordinarily prejudicial.”

The Accusers Public Backers Have Been Savaged In The Press
One of the leading organizers of the effort to get the press to pay attention to this case is Steve Baer, an outspoken Republican donor. Baer last made news when his effort to out an alleged affair between Reps. Kevin McCarthy and Renee Ellmers contributed to McCarthy dropping his bid to become House speaker. Baers style is to liberally cc and bcc an endless stream of powerful people, and it usually has the effect of getting none of them to listen.
When I wrote to him Monday night, for instance, to say I was going to write a story on why the media were avoiding the child rape story, he replied and cced Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron, along with a host of other media figures.
And Baer, in fact, is among the more credible advocates the accuser has going for her.
The accuser initially filed the case on her own behalf in California, but it was tossed for not stating an articulable violation of her civil rights. The case has since been refiled in New York, under the representation of a patent lawyer named Thomas Meagher. A patent lawyer handling the case hasnt inspired the most confidence.
The least credible backer has to be a man who may or may not be named Al Taylor, but is more likely named Norm Lubow, and was apparently a former producer for The Jerry Springer Show.
With Blooms planned press conference on Wednesday, things might have changed.

E Jean Carroll Files New Suit Against Trump As New York Sexual Abuse Law Takes Effect
JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank also face lawsuits in connection with Jeffrey Epsteins alleged sex trafficking
A New York law that temporarily allows adult survivors of sexual abuse to sue their abusers beyond the statute of limitations for civil claims came into effect on Thursday and with it, the first of what could be hundreds of new legal actions.
Among the first claims filed under the Adult Survivors Act , signed into law in May by Governor Kathy Hochul, is that of E Jean Carroll, a writer who accused Donald Trump of rape. Carroll filed an upgraded lawsuit against Trump minutes after the new state law took effect.
Claims were also brought against JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank by lawyers acting for unnamed individuals who accuse the banks of turning a blind eye to alleged sex trafficking by the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein in order to churn profits.
The lawsuits, filed separately in a New York court, allege the banks knowingly benefited and received things of value for assisting, supporting, facilitating, and otherwise providing the most critical service for the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking organization.
JPMorgan, the largest US bank, is accused in the suit of financially benefiting from participating in Epsteins alleged operation by providing financial support from 1998 to August 2013.

Years after women first came forward to accuse then-presidential candidate Donald Trump of sexual assault or harassment, the issue has never left the president alone.
A full 26 incidents of unwanted sexual contact and 43 instances of inappropriate behaviour were detailed in a book, All the Presidents Women: Donald Trump and the Making of a Predator, which drew on over 100 interviews many exclusive and added to a list of nearly two dozen women who had previously accused him of sexual assault or misconduct.
Beyond the remarks in that video which Mr Trumps team have always dismissed as locker room talk accusations of sexual assault and harassment persist, with new ones surfacing even today. Amy Dorris, a former model, is the latest woman to join the list.

Pageant Dressing Room Visits
Trump owned the Miss Universe franchise, which includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, from 1996 to 2015. In a Howard Stern interview in 2005, he said he made a practice of walking into the contestants’ dressing rooms unannounced while the women were undressed:
I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else. …You know, no men are anywhere. And I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant. And therefore I’m inspecting it. … Is everyone OK? You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. And you see these incredible-looking women. And so I sort of get away with things like that. But no, I’ve been very good.
In that interview, Trump declined to say whether he had slept with any contestants, saying, “It could be a conflict of interest”. Stern then imitated a foreign contestant , and Trump jokingly responded, “Well, you could also say, as the owner of the pageant, it’s your obligation to do that.”
Contestants of the shows have specifically alleged that Trump entered the dressing rooms while they were in various stages of undress in 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2006.

In October 2016 Republican candidate Donald Trump came under fire after the release of a decade-old tape capturing him making lewd comments, followed by multiple women coming forward to claim that Trump had groped them. Shortly afterwards, an image containing allegations about incidents of Trump’s having sexually abused women circulated via social media:
The first claim held that in 1989 Donald Trump’s first ex-wife, Ivana, swore under oath in a deposition that he had violently raped her and that somehow that information wasn’t brought to light during the comprehensive mudslinging that engulfed the extremely heated 2016 election. Donald Trump Sued As New York Adult Survivors Act Takes Effect
Writer E Jean Carroll has sued Donald Trump in the US state of New York for allegedly raping her in the 1990s.
Ms Carroll, 78, is among the first to sue under the Adult Survivors Act, which came into effect on Thursday.
The state law allows a one-year period for victims to file sexual assault lawsuits in New York over claims that would have otherwise exceeded statute limitations.
The former president has denied the allegations against him.
Ms Carroll alleges the attack took place in a New York luxury department store dressing room 27 years ago.
The Adult Survivors Act allows victims to come forward if the sexual assault occurred when they were over the age of 18 and took place on a date that exceeds time limits that exists on most felonies.
It is modelled after the state’s recent Child Abuse Act, which applied to victims who were abused as minors.
The Child Abuse Act, which came into effect in 2019, allowed a two-year period for victims to come forward. Around 11,000 lawsuits were filed in New York against churches, hospitals, schools, camps and other institutions under that law.
Ms Carroll has also sued former President Trump for defamation after he accused her of lying when she first made her allegations public in 2019. Mr Trump has called Ms Carroll’s claims “fiction”. A civil trial for that case is scheduled for 6 February.
Others are also planning to file lawsuits under the new law.

Trump has broadly dismissed the allegations, which include harassment, groping, and rape, as “fabricated” and politically motivated accounts pushed by the media and his political opponents. In 2016, he promised to sue all of his accusers.
