National Archives Identified Over 100 Documents With Classified Markings In First 15 Boxes Collected From Trump

Emails show how President Trump’s team scrambled to overturn election results

The National Archives identified over 100 documents with classification markings including some identified as Top Secret and belonging to sensitive Special Access Programs following its initial review of the 15 boxes of White House records first collected from Donald Trump’s Florida residence in January 2022, according to a letter sent by the archives’ acting archivist to an attorney for the former president.

A person familiar with the letter confirmed its authenticity to CBS News’ Robert Costa. The letter was first reported on Just the News by an investigative reporter now best known as a conservative commentator, John Solomon. In June, Trump named Solomon and a former administration official, Kash Patel, to be “representatives for access to Presidential records of my administration.”

On Tuesday afternoon, the National Archives posted the letter without comment.

The May 10 letter from National Archives Acting Archivist Debra Wall to Trump lawyer Evan Corcoran includes new details about what concerned the National Archives about the White House documents Trump was keeping at his Florida estate and what federal investigators might have been seeking when they executed a search warrant at his Mar-a-Lago resort earlier this month.

The White House declined to comment and the National Archives did not respond to CBS News’ request for comment.

Things To Keep In Mind

Obviously, its not as if youre writing an instant message to one of your friends or your parents. As one would imagine, there are layers of security to go through, not to mention the fact that the Presidents staff have more critical matters to attend to, even if were talking about the PR sector.

Clearly, your message to POTUS needs to be well-constructed, following certain guidelines, and pertaining to an important matter. If you just want to say hi, dont bother sending it, although it wont hurt.

Additionally, youre much more likely to receive the response from a Presidents staff member, rather than from the Big Guy himself, so be sure to manage your expectations.

Naturally, threats , are absolutely out of the question. If the secret service, FBI, or any other government agency gets so much as a whiff of potential danger, theyll find you, arrest you, and most likely charge you. The punishment for threatening the President is severe, to say the least.

The Latest From The Texas School Shooting

Trump also reprised his America Focus emphasis by working in a swipe at the $40 billion that Congress recently approved to help Ukraine fight off Russias three-month invasion.

If the United States has $40 billion to send to Ukraine we should be able to do whatever it takes to keep our children safe, Trump said. Before we nation-build the rest of the world, we should be building safe schools for our own children in our own nation.

Trump also called for an increased focus on mental health programs and slammed big city mayors for not doing more to address a violent crime spike across the country though he did not include New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat and ex-cop elected on a tough-on-crime plank, among the leaders he blasted.

If America had a proper approach to policing, prosecuting and jailing, we could cut violent crime in our major cities by much more than half, Trump said.

Big-city mayors like Lori Lightfoot in Chicago, Muriel Bowser in Washington and Jim Kenney in Philadelphia watch the slaughter day in and day out and do absolutely nothing.

Trump, who has teased a potential rematch against Biden in 2024, said if he were to return to the White House, hed take a more aggressive stance toward combatting violent crime.

House January 6 Committee Obtains Email Outlining Early Plan To Try To Overturn Trumps 2020 Loss

Emails Donald Trump is sending for his 2020 re

The House select committee investigating the 2021 US Capitol insurrection has obtained a December 2020 proposal from a lawyer to Rudy Giuliani and others that sketched out an early, rough plan to halt Joe Biden becoming president by throwing the certification of the election into the hands of the Senate pro tempore at the time, Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

The December 13 email, written by a New York lawyer named Kenneth Chesebro, is significant because its the only document so far that the House has obtained solely because of a judges finding that it could become evidence of a crime. The email came to light as part of a court fight over right-wing attorney John Eastmans email account.

The House has obtained, through other arguments, hundreds of additional Eastman emails relevant to his work for then-President Donald Trump before January 6, 2021, and is still arguing for access to more. Eastman advised Trump on ways to try to block his electoral loss.

The email from Chesebro, in its subject line, called the proposal the President of the Senate strategy. The committee obtained the email several weeks ago, and it became public in the court filing recently.

Emails Show Trump Pressured Justice Dept Over 2020 Election

WASHINGTON During the last weeks of his presidency, Donald Trump and his allies pressured the Justice Department to investigate unsubstantiated claims of widespread 2020 election fraud that even his former attorney general declared without evidence, newly released emails show.

The emails, released Tuesday by the House Oversight Committee, reveal in new detail how Trump, his White House chief of staff and other allies pressured members of the U.S. government to challenge the 2020 election over false claims.

Officials at Homeland Security and the Justice Department, as well as Republican election leaders across the country, repeatedly said there was no pervasive fraud. Former Attorney General William Barr, a longtime Trump loyalist, was among those who said there was no evidence of such fraud.

The emails also show the extent to which Trump worked to enlist then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen in his campaigns failing legal efforts to challenge the election result, including suggesting filing a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court.

Those sent to Rosen include debunked conspiracy theories and false information about voter fraud. Trumps lies about the election helped spur on the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in a failed effort to stop the certification of Joe Bidens victory.

It didnt happen, and on Jan. 3 another Justice official wrote that the cause of justice won.

Trump Inquired If China Could Make Hurricanes To Harm Us Ex

BREAKING: President Trump Will Send Americans Checks In The Mail

Former president also wanted to know if it would constitute an act of war and if hurricanes could be nuked to stop them

As president, Donald Trump repeatedly asked aides if China could be manufacturing hurricanes and sending them to damage the United States, three unnamed former senior officials told Rolling Stone on Tuesday.

Trump also reportedly wanted to know if using such a hurricane gun would constitute an act of war, and if so, whether the US could retaliate militarily.

China is a major nuclear power.

It was almost too stupid for words, one source told the magazine, which said the speaker was intimately familiar with the then sitting presidents inquiry.

I did not get the sense he was joking at all, the source added.

The news comes on the tail of former defense secretary Mark Espers claim, in a new book, that Trump wanted to hit drug labs in Mexico with missiles and then deny responsibility, and other hair-raising accounts of near foreign policy disaster.

Rolling Stone quoted a second former official as saying: I was present when he asked if China made hurricanes to send to us. wanted to know if the technology existed. One guy in the room responded, Not to the best of my knowledge, sir.

I kept it together until I got back to my office I do not know where the president would have heard about that He was asking about it around the time, maybe a little before, he asked people about nuking hurricanes.

Read The Bogus Letter Trump Justice Department Ally Wanted To Send To Georgia

The first public hearing of the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol featured a broad look at then-President Donald Trumps efforts to overturn Joe Bidens victory in the 2020 election.

One key piece of evidence featured: A letter that a Trump ally at the Justice Department wanted to send to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, House Speaker David Ralston and Senate President Pro Tem Butch Miller in late December 2020. The letter was part of Trumps effort to enlist the Justice Department in his campaign to overturn the election in Georgia and other swing states.

Jeffrey Clark, a senior Justice Department official allied with Trump, wanted the department to intervene. He drafted the extraordinary letter to Georgia officials, dated Dec. 28, 2020.

The letter said the Justice Department had significant concerns about fraud that may have affected the outcome of the election in Georgia and other states. As evidence, it cited allegations raised in a Georgia Senate report and in a Trump lawsuit. And it urged Georgia officials to convene a special session of the General Assembly to consider invalidating Georgias official election results and selecting the winner themselves.

On Thursday the House committee cited Clarks letter as evidence of Trumps effort to use the Justice Department to overturn Bidens victory on the false premise that the election was stolen.

Judge Orders John Eastman To Send More Emails To Jan 6 Committee

WASHINGTON A federal judge has ordered John Eastman, the Trump lawyer who wrote memos arguing then-Vice President Mike Pence could overturn the 2020 election, to turn over about 170 documents to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

U.S. District Judge David Carter said in a filing Tuesday that while 440 documents are privileged, Eastman has to give the committee 159 other documents by Wednesday afternoon, which include communications from former President Donald Trump about state electors in swing states and the size of his campaign rallies.

The judge pointed to one email from Dec. 20, 2020, that he said included evidence of a potential crime.

“This email considers whether to bring a case that would decide the interpretation of the Electoral Count Act and potentially risk a court finding that the Act binds Vice President Pence,” the judge wrote. “Because the attorney concluded that a negative court ruling would ‘tank the January 6 strategy,’ he encouraged the legal team to avoid the courts. This email cemented the direction of the January 6 plan.”
