How To Meet The President Trump

Former Presidents Meeting The Pope

President Trump’s Full, Unedited Interview With Meet The Press | NBC News

After leaving office, former Presidents and Millard Fillmore met separately with Pope Pius IX in Rome in 1855. Pius IX also met Franklin Pierce in November 1857. In 1878, Ulysses S. Grant met Pope Leo XIII in the Vatican as part of his post-presidential world tour.

In April 1910, Theodore Roosevelt sought an audience with Pope Pius X. The Pope agreed to see him, provided Roosevelt would not call on some Methodist missionaries in Rome. Roosevelt had no intention of meeting the missionaries, but he declined to submit to Pius X’s conditions and the interview did not take place. Theodore Roosevelt called the entire papal episode, “An elegant row.”

Want To Book Donald Or Melania For An Event Trump Has A Website For That

45office.com allows visitors to book the former president and his wife for personal appearances and greetings

Visitors to Donald Trumps new website can book the former president and his wife, Melania Trump, for personal appearances and greetings.

One page on the website, 45office.com, deals with scheduling. Users interest in inviting Donald J Trump or Melania Trump to participate in your event are instructed to use a form provided.

Among questions to be answered are Will Media be Present? and whether any Notable Attendees are expected.

Former presidents and major public figures often sign up with professional agencies for public speakers. Trumps move, however, is typical of a man ever eager to control his own image and all profits from it.

His new website also offers personalized greetings. Unlike celebrities including the former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who signed up with Cameo, a website that sells greetings and messages from celebrities, Trumps website does not say he is charging for the service or for scheduled personal appearances.

Trumps staff does seem to be attempting to filter out any embarrassing or pranking requests. Last year, for example, a comedian paid Lewandowski to congratulate a fictional small child for using the big boy toilet and doing a great job with your poopies.

Users are also offered a chance to share your thoughts with the former first couple, who claim to still enjoy hearing from the American people.

President Trump often complained about the deep state of career civil servants who, he asserted, were determined to undermine his presidency. He promised to drain the swamp, and his aide Steve Bannon predicted the deconstruction of the administrative state.

But it was his own presidential appointees who most visibly resisted his directives. Political appointees are expected to be the most loyal advocates of a presidents policy agenda, riding herd on the many bureaucracies of the executive branch. Yet Trumps appointees in the White House, cabinet, military, and intelligence community refused to carry out many of the presidents directives to an extent unprecedented in the modern presidency. President Trumps appointees went well beyond the normal disagreements about policy that are typical in every administration they resorted to slow walking orders, refusing to comply with directives, and even outright sabotage. Leadership is central to the presidency. The resistance to President Trump by his highest level officials illustrates how his own appointees judged his leadership.

In August 2017, Trump wanted to fulfill a campaign promise to withdraw from the U.S. free trade agreement with South Korea, and a letter was prepared to that effect. Cohn thought that if Trump saw the letter, he would sign it so Cohn quietly removed it from Trumps desk. Eventually Secretary of Defense James Mattis talked the president out of abandoning the agreement.

Senate Gop Pans Trump Call To Terminate Constitution

Former President Trumps weekend call to terminate parts of the U.S. Constitution in order to overturn the 2020 election results was met with derision and opposition by Senate Republicans on Monday.

I think its ridiculous talk, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito , a newly minted member of GOP leadership. To besmirch our dedication to the Constitution is ridiculous.

Very inappropriate, said Sen. Lindsey Graham , an ally of the former president. The statement was inappropriate and Im glad to see him clarify.

Most Republicans are frustrated, but that wasnt the answer, he added.

Trumps remarks came in a post on Truth Social on Saturday and bookended a crazy news cycle for the former president, even by his own lofty standards. They came only days after news emerged that he dined with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, and white supremacist Nick Fuentes, both of whom have openly and widely made antisemitic remarks.

On Monday, Trump tried to back away from his Saturday remarks.

The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to terminate the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES, just like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of their other HOAXES & SCAMS, Trump wrote Monday afternoon, adding that he meant for steps must be immediately taken to RIGHT THE WRONG.

MEXICO CITY Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Wednesday he plans to travel to Washington to meet with President Donald Trump, an announcement that was met with a storm of criticism in Mexico.

López Obrador said he wants to make his first trip abroad in the first week of July to mark the start of the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada free trade accord, which was negotiated with the Trump administration.

Trump is deeply unpopular in Mexico because of his remarks about the country. And Mexicans remember former President Enrique Peña Nietos ill-starred meeting with Trump that many feel strengthened Trump as a candidate in the 2016 election. Mexicos Foreign Relations Department then issued a statement saying López Obradors administration wants to steer clear of the U.S. elections.

The two leaders have displayed surprisingly cordial relations despite ideological differences. Trump said of López Obrador on Tuesday: Hes really a great guy. I think hell be coming into Washington pretty soon. López Obrador has called Trump a friend and said his administration has shown respect for Mexico

Roberto Velasco Álvarez, the Foreign Relations Departments director of North American affairs, wrote in his Twitter account that Mexican diplomacy is based on building bridges with all people.

The main objective of the meeting proposed by President López Obrador is promoting our interests, and is not related to internal political processes, Velasco Alvarez wrote.

Crime And Illegal Drugs

Pence has questioned proposals to decrease penalties for low-level offenses in Indiana, saying the state should focus on reducing crime, not reducing penalties. In 2013, Pence expressed concern that a then-pending bill to revise the states criminal code was not tough enough on drug crimes, and successfully lobbied to limit the reduction in sentencing of marijuana offenses.

In 2016, he signed into law a measure that would reinstate a ten-year prison sentence for certain drug offenders.

During 2014, Pence sent a letter to United States attorney general , saying Indiana would not comply with because they were too expensive. According to the Indiana Department of Corrections, it would cost the state $1520 million annually to comply with the guidelines. Pence said a number of rape prevention measures had already been implemented.

In 2015, Pence signed Senate Bill 94 to lengthen the statute of limitations for rapecontinuing for five years after sufficient DNA evidence is uncovered, enough recorded evidence is brought forth or discovered, or the offender confesses to the crime. Pence also signed Senate Bill 8 to allow the death penalty for beheadings if the victim was alive at the time of the offense.

Carl Paladino, the upstate New York developer and local political gadfly, was interested in catching up with Donald Trump in early December, so he rang up the president-elects private security guard. The next day, on Dec. 5, Paladino found himself high in Trump Tower, recounting favorite moments from the campaign and gossiping about local politics with the president-elect for 45 minutes.

He said, When are you going to be down in the city? Just call me when you get in, Paladino, the co-chair for Trumps campaign in New York who is little-known outside the state, recalled of talking to the security guard, Keith Schiller. So I called his number, and his guy told me to come in the next day at 11 oclock. He hadnt changed a bit.

Since winning the presidency, Trump has taken calls from world leaders, interviewed dozens of potential Cabinet officials and huddled with the countrys richest executives, activities that are often associated with the intense transition effort for a president-elect.

Those are just his friends, the Rev. Al Sharpton said. He knows all these guys because he ran casinos and sporting events and threw some of the biggest boxing matches in the main room at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

And they wonder why he is meeting with some of these people at all.

Why Did The Fbi Search Mar

In short, because the US Department of Justice suspects the former president may have committed a crime.

The department is conducting a criminal investigation over the improper removal and storage of classified information.

On 8 August, FBI agents gathered evidence as part of this investigation into whether Mr Trump improperly removed government records from the White House and took them to his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.

Its worth noting here that US presidents must transfer all of their documents and emails to a government agency called the National Archives once they leave office.

And earlier this year, that agency said it had retrieved 15 boxes of papers from Mar-a-Lago which Mr Trump should have handed over when he left the White House. That discovery is what triggered the ongoing investigation.

In the affidavit released on 26 August, officials said there was also probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found at the premises.

That is key, because to obtain the search warrant, prosecutors had to persuade a judge that they had probable cause to believe a crime may have taken place.

Trump Meets Kim Jong Un Becomes First Sitting Us President To Step Into North Korea

SEOUL, South Korea Taking an unprecedented step onto North Korean soil, President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Washington and Pyongyang will relaunch stalled nuclear talks. The statement came during an extraordinary last-minute meeting with Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader.

Side-by-side with Kim in the heavily-fortified demilitarized zone, Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to cross the 1953 armistice line separating North and South Korea, then joined Kim for a roughly 50-minute meeting.

It was their third since Trump took office, but none have yet yielded a nuclear deal.

“Stepping across that line was a great honor,” Trump said, later adding that it was “something incredible.”

Trump deemed the meeting a victory, announcing that nuclear talks would resume “within weeks” and that the two countries were designating teams of officials to take the lead.

He even invited Kim, who rarely leaves the country, to visit him at the White House.

Yet for all the fanfare, there were no signs that the U.S. and the North had made any concrete progress on denuclearization, the issue that has led to North Korea’s estrangement from the world.

And veteran nuclear negotiators and North Korea experts immediately questioned whether Trump, by staging a high-profile photo-op absent nuclear concessions, was bestowing legitimacy on Kim and undermining global pressure to force the North to accept a denuclearization deal.

Meet The Globetrotting Con Man And Suspected Chinese Spy Who Met With President Trump

Tao Liu had recently rented a luxurious apartment in Trump Tower in New York and boasted of joining the exclusive Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

But Liu was also a fugitive from Chinese justice. Media reports published overseas three years before the meeting had described him as the mastermind of a conspiracy that defrauded thousands of investors. He had ties to Chinese and Latin American organized crime. Perhaps most worrisome, the FBI was monitoring him because of suspicions that he was working with Chinese spies on a covert operation to buy access to U.S. political figures.

Yet there he sat with Trump at a table covered with sandwiches and soft drinks, the tall windows behind them looking onto a green landscape.

A longtime Trump associate who accompanied Liu was vague about what was discussed, telling ProPublica that they talked about the golf club, among other things.

He was a climber, said the associate, Joseph Cinque. He wanted to meet Trump. He wanted to meet high rollers, people of importance.

Documented by photos and interviews, the previously unreported sit-down reveals the workings of a Chinese underworld where crime, business, politics and espionage blur together. It also raises new questions about whether the Trump administration weakened the governments system for protecting the president against national security risks.

But Cinque now regrets ever having met Liu.
