How Can Trump Spend His Leadership Pac Funds

Panel: Trump Tells Voters DON’T Donate To GOP, ONLY Donate To ME

Fischer said Save America funds can be used for the presidents post-White House political operation to keep former campaign staff on the payroll, to fund Trumps travel and expenses when he is campaigning for other candidates, and to help finance rallies and events .

He noted that its not entirely uncommon for politicians who are out of office, but eyeing another run for office, to use leadership PACs to sustain a political operation between elections.

Campaign finance watchdogs have referred to leadership PACs as slush funds for candidates over the years because although they were intended to enable politicians to spend the funds on other candidates races, the money is often used for more personal expenses that cannot be paid for by campaign funds. This is because, as Fischer notes, the Federal Election Commission hasnt interpreted the personal use ban to apply to leadership PAC funds.

What this means is that although Trump cannot use campaign funds to pay himself or his family members excessive salaries, or to buy enough copies of Don Jr.s book to land it on the bestseller list, he might try to use leadership PAC funds for such purposes, Fischer said. The Campaign Legal Center has also pointed out instances where politicians have drawn from their leadership PACs to pay for trips to Disney World, golf excursions, Broadway tickets and luxury hotel stays.

Redistricting Delays Freeze 2022 House Races

WinRed was founded in June 2019 with the aim of competing against ActBlue, the well-established liberal fundraising behemoth that gave Democrats a centralized platform to process donations. Over the past two years, WinRed has become a dominant player in Republican politics: Former President Donald Trumps reelection campaign used the platform and, according to the company, more than 90 percent of the partys senators and House members are customers.

While party officials concede theyre still behind Democrats in online fundraising, they argue they are making up ground. Led by Trump, WinReds donations totaled $2.2 billion from the middle of 2019 through the end of 2020 In that same period, ActBlue processed $4.7 billion. This year, the shortfall is smaller: WinRed has collected $258 million, compared to nearly $374 million by ActBlue.

But there have been complaints within the party that WinReds prices are too high, especially given that ActBlue has charged a lower 3.95 percent flat rate.

Early this year, Republican campaign committee strategists and WinRed leaders began a series of negotiations about making WinRed cheaper. At a Republican National Committee meeting in Dallas this April, Lansing received a standing ovation when he announced the platform would be lowering its prices, according to a person familiar with the gathering.

Lansing attributed WinReds higher fees to its initial need to build out its operations, which required funding.

Republican Party Of Texas Calls On Leadership To Replace Ronna Mcdaniel As Rnc Chair

A lot of Republicans think the Republican National Committee needs new leadership after the underwhelming outcome of the 2022 midterm elections.

In Texas, Republicans are calling on party leaders to replace Ronna McDaniel as RNC chair.

Its perfectly understandable that people would want a change like this. Expectations were high for Republicans to do much better in November.

Hunters For The Hungry Need Hunters To Donate Meat To Help Feed Families During The Holidays

BEDFORD, Va. – A local organization is using hunting to help families put much-needed protein on their tables.

Hunters for the hungry have seen an increase in the number of people who need meat donations.

We dealt again with the pandemic and then we see the current economy with inflation. People are just finding themselves more in need, said Hunters for the Hungry Director Gary Arrington.

The non-profit receives deer donations from hunters around Virginia. The meat is then taken to processing companies across our hometowns.

Its a great blessing for us. We love being able to do our part to give back to the community, said Backroad Butcher Meat Co. Owner Tim Overstreet. I know a lot of folks really need the help and we love helping out.

The non-profit has given over 7.5 million pounds of venison.

Thats over 30.3 million servings thats gone to men, women, children, the homeless, elderly, and our veterans who are struggling with hunger, explained Arrington.

Food pantries like Lake Christian Ministry distribute the meat to families in need.

And this meat that were getting here goes for anybody who likes to get venison, said Pantry Manager Colleen McNulty.

McNulty says they have seen a 40% increase in neighbors who need food. The meat donations from the non-profit help them to keep giving.

And as hunting season is going on, hunters for the hungry are asking for help.

Speaking of which, donating at odd times can help, too, Roberts said. Giving when the general population isn’t thinking about politics can allow a campaign to continue when the coffers are more bare.

That means giving in the summer months, or giving around primary time in statewide races, which don’t grab as much voter attention as general elections do. Your money can make a big difference to candidates during times when most people aren’t paying attention.

Ms. Collins also worked closely with the outside group of G.O.P. donors and operatives, some of them gay, on a coordinated, $1.7 million campaign to persuade Republican senators that backing it would give them a political edge.

Republican Party Donations Being Used To Help Pay Donald Trump’s Legal Bills: WaPo

Nearly half of Gen Z and millennials are planning to donate to a political campaign in 2020, and it’s likely that many will use the convenience of their credit cards to do so.

But while credit cards are an easy way to make a payment, donors should consider that when you charge your donation to a credit card, a small piece of it is used to pay card processing fees, which means not all of your money is going toward your favorite candidate.

According to a Newsy analysis of Federal Election Commission data, national political campaigns have shelled out more than $220 million to credit card-processing companies, like American Express and PayPal, since the start of the 2008 election cycle.

Below, CNBC Select explores how to use your credit card to make a political donation.

Gop Election Objectors Rake In Corporate Cash

The nations biggest companies have steadily ramped up their donations to GOP lawmakers who voted against certifying the 2020 election results, largely ending the giving freeze instituted following the Capitol riot.

Less than a year after the Jan. 6 attack, PACs affiliated with Fortune 500 companies and their trade groups have contributed $6.8 million to the 147 Republicans who objected, according to a new analysis of campaign finance records from liberal watchdog group Accountable.US.

Every major corporation paused PAC giving after the insurrection, prompting such donations to disappear entirely in January and total just $28,000 in February. Those same corporate PACs quietly resumed and later increased their political giving, doling out a total of $2.3 million to GOP election objectors between September and October, the most recent months on record.

Gop Group Tells Online Donors: Give Every Month Or We Will Have To Tell Trump Youre A Defector

List Of Companies That Have Resumed Donations To Gop Election Objectors

Prominent companies that paused political donations after some Republicans voted to object to the certification of President Joe Bidens election have started giving again.

Following the events of January 6 when rioters entered the Capitol and 147 elected Republicans voted against the certification of Electoral College votes, several major companies announced changes in their political donations. This included pauses in spending and statements that the company would not give money to those who had objected to Bidens win.

However, some of the corporate PACs of high profile companies that paused donations have begun donating to Republican objectors again, either through direct donations to the Republicans campaigns committees and leadership PACs or by donating to the National Republican Congressional Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee , which provide support for the objectors.

Those companies, according to reports from the Washington Post, Daily Beast and Bloomberg, include: American Airlines, health insurance firm Cigna, insurance company Aflac, UPS, defense contractors Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, Boeing, General Motors, Ford, JetBlue, and Southern Co. a gas an electric company based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Trump Campaign Rnc Refund Donors Another $128 Million In : Nyt

Donald TrumpGrant Woods, longtime friend of McCain and former Arizona AG, dies at 67Glasgow summit raises stakes for Biden dealMOREs campaign and the Republican Party returned around $12.8 million to donors in the first six months of 2021, The New York Time reported.

It was previously reported in April that Trumps reelection campaign had refunded around $122 million to donors in 2020. Recently released federal records have revealed that the Trump campaign has so far returned $135 million to campaign donors.

Shortly before Election Day last year, Trumps campaign made recurring payments the default option on its donation website, meaning that people had to uncheck the option to avoid being charged weekly.

The Times found that the campaign had attempted to obscure this detail by placing it in the fine print beneath multiple lines of bolded and capitalized text

The campaign also added a second pre-checked box that doubled a donors donation along with new lines of text that distracted readers from what they were agreeing to.

Trumps reelection campaign reportedly withdrew more than $3,000 in less than a month from one donor who was in hospice care and had donated $500 in September.

Shortly after the FECs recommendation was made, Senate Democrats introduced a bill to ban the practice of pre-checking boxes for recurring campaign donations.

The Times previously reported that Trumps campaign has returned more than 10 percent of the $1.2 billion that it raised. President Biden

In 2016, the National Rifle Association spent more than $50 million to back Donald Trump and several Republican Senate candidates, establishing itself as a major force in the election.

At the same time, the organizations finances were deep in the red. After allegedly abusing its nonprofit status for years through lavish spending on executives and vendors, the NRA is now facing a lawsuit from the New York attorney general that aims to dissolve the organization.

Despite those existential threats, the gun group has promised another show of force during the 2020 campaign, and in August made one of its largest ever ad buys with a spot attacking Trumps Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

Online fund-raising has slowed across much of the Republican Party in recent months, an unusual pullback of small donors that has set off a mad rush among Republican political operatives to understand why and reverse the sudden decline before it damages the partys chances this fall.

Small-dollar donations typically increase as an election nears. But just the opposite has happened in recent months across a wide range of Republican entities, including every major party committee and former President Donald J. Trumps political operation.

The total amount donated online fell by more than 12 percent across all federal Republican campaigns and committees in the second quarter compared with the first quarter, according to an analysis of federal records from WinRed, the main online Republican donation-processing portal.

More alarming for Republicans: Democratic contributions surged at the same time. Total federal donations on ActBlue, the Democratic counterpart, jumped by more than 21 percent.

Senator Cynthia Lummis Of Wyoming

Last Week in the Republican Party – August 9, 2022

The first-term senator faced the most pressure to oppose the bill, especially after the other Republican senator from Wyoming, John Barrasso, voted against it. Ms. Lummis, who is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was pressed by the Wyoming Pastors Network to reverse course after she voted yes in a crucial test vote that paved the way for the bill to advance in the Senate. The Wyoming G.O.P. also admonished her for supporting the bill, which it claimed would threaten the state party platform.

But Ms. Lummis, her colleagues said, was determined.

For the sake of our nation today and its survival, we do well by taking this step, she said on the Senate floor last month, delivering an emotional speech about the need for more tolerance during what she called turbulent times for our nation.
