Abe Hamadeh, a Trump-endorsed candidate for Arizona attorney general, characterized Arizona as on the front lines of defending America in a short speech at the rally in Mesa.
Arizona, we shocked the hell out of the establishment on Aug. 2, and are you ready to do it again? Hamadeh said to loud applause.
Hamadeh said Democrats have harmed the country in the past couple years, citing inflation, drugs and terrorists crossing the border with Mexico, critical race theory in schools, censorship from big tech and Democrats who are weaponizing the law and targeting patriots.
Arizona is on the front lines of so many of the battles facing our country, and if we lose Arizona, we lose our country, but were not going to lose. Were not going to lose because President Trump is still fighting for America, he said.
As attorney general, Hamadeh said he would fight criminals, drug cartels and the federal government and lock up some people and put handcuffs on them, prompting cheers in the crowd of lock them up.
America has been down before, but America has never been out. The rest of the country is watching, theyre watching what we do right here in Arizona, because if we win, theres still hope for America. And when we win, when we win, Arizona will lead Americas greatest comeback and never look back,” he said.
The dark imagery was a theme among speakers.
And authorities have hounded Trump since he began his political career, she said.

Pm: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene Appears At Rally
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., echoed the language of the Great Replacement theory popular with white nationalists in her message to Arizonans in Mesa on Sunday.
Speaking about illegal immigration, Greene said 5 million people have crossed the Mexican border with impunity from a derelict President Joe Biden.
Five million people from all over the world have crossed our borders, Greene said. Joe Bidens 5 million illegal aliens are on the verge of replacing you, replacing your jobs, replacing your kids in school, and coming from all over the world they are also replacing your culture. Thats not great for America.
The replacement theory is an idea first popular among white nationalists that Democrats want illegal immigrants to keep their party politically viable.
Some Republicans have flirted with similar rhetoric to energize their base, which has long seen the border as dangerously porous.
Greene has long pushed a nationalist message. Last year, Greene and Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., were briefly linked to creating an America First Caucus that was reportedly linked to preserving the nations Anglo-Saxon past and dramatically restricting the nations immigration laws. Both lawmakers quickly distanced themselves from the caucus idea after bipartisan pushback.
Before taking the stage, Greene predicted the shifting state of Arizonas law on abortion rights would not play a significant role in the upcoming elections.

Pm: Republicans Rally With Katie Hobbs In Paradise Valley
Democratic candidate for governor Katie Hobbs held a brief news conference Sunday morning at Barry Goldwater Memorial Park in Paradise Valley to emphasize that Republicans should support her over rival Kari Lake.
Several members of Hobbs Republicans for Katie Hobbs Coalition gathered with her at the park, which celebrates the states conservative icon who died in 1998 following five terms as a U.S. senator.
Karie Dozer, a former spokesman for the late state Attorney General Grant Woods, said Goldwater would be shaking his head in disgust at how crazy Republican politics have become.
Kari Lake is dangerous for Arizona, said Mesa Mayor John Giles, and thats why he a Republican was at the park with Hobbs and not at Trumps rally in Mesa on Sunday.
Those of us who support Secretary Hobbs care very deeply about the future of Arizona, he said. And thats why we are putting our state above our party.
Monica Villalobos, president and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, describing herself as a former Republican, emphasized that the nation has moved forward under Biden.
She didnt leave the party, she said it left her when it began running candidates operating from places of hatred, hubris and hostility rather than honesty, humility and humanity.

Pm: Who Is Scheduled To Speak At Trump Rally In Mesa
The speaker list for Sunday’s rally includes names familiar to Arizonans, as well as some of the more outspoken Trump advocates, including U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia.
Two members of Arizona’s congressional delegation are on board to address the rally: Republican representatives Andy Biggs and Debbie Lesko.
They will join former Trump administration staffers Rich Grenell and Kash Patel, who were with Trump at a similar rally in Nevada on Saturday.
Grenell served briefly as acting director of National Intelligence in 2020, while also holding the posts of U.S. ambassador to Germany and special presidential envoy for the Serbia and Kosovo Peace Negotiations.
Patel was former chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Defense.
The event is a rally to support the Trump-endorsed candidates in November’s election. Arizona candidates slated to speak are gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake. U.S. Senate nominee Blake Masters, secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem and attorney general nominee Abe Hamedeh.
The speeches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

To understand why so many voted to re-elect Trump after four years of historic political turmoil featuring a failed pandemic response, a devastating economic shock and a crisis in racial justice its necessary to understand the forces that propelled him to victory in 2016.
In recent publications, Berkeley scholars have suggested that Trump won with an unconventional coalition of white working class and middle-class Americans who were motivated by resentment: The culture and economy gave them no recognition and no respect for their work. Their industries were changing, their jobs were shifting overseas or lost to automation. They perceive that Black, Latinx and Asian people, and immigrants, are advancing at their expense.
Trump supporters massed for a rally in Washington, D.C., days after Democrat Joe Biden emerged as the winner of the U.S. presidential race.
But some Berkeley scholars suggested that for many voters, support for Trump or any leader is a more passive choice that takes shape in a subrational sphere.

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday joked about being depicted as “a dictator” by the press, which he assumed was the result of the cognitive test he has repeatedly bragged about passing in 2018.
“Which would you rather be, a dumb person or a dictator?” Trump said Thursday night at the Heritage Foundation’s annual leadership conference in Florida at the Ritz-Carlton resort on Amelia Island.
“Perhaps a dictator would be better,” he continued. “I don’t want to be a dumb person.”

In the same speech, Trump said he was surprised nobody ever found out that he told the president of a NATO country in a closed door meeting that the US would not come to their protection if they didn’t increase their defense spending.
Experts on authoritarianism have warned that Trump not only frequently praises strongmen dictators on the world stage, but also exhibits authoritarian tendencies of his own, culminating in the January 6 insurrection on Capitol Hill.
In the former president’s assessment, the dictator chatter only began because he did so well on a cognitive test he took in 2018.
The test Trump took is called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, designed to detect signs of dementia.

Three of the four congresswomen Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts were born in the U.S. The fourth, Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, became a U.S. citizen at age 12. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the use of the racist trope “disgusting” and vowed a resolution condemning the president’s language, while Omar and Tlaib, the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, said Trump’s xenophobic attack was new grounds for impeachment. Pressley, who is African American, blasted the president for “the callous, chaotic and corrupt culture of this administration.”
The president seems more buoyed by the criticism than bothered, insisting that “a lot of people love” his Twitter attack on the progressive Democrats. But in the Massachusetts district where Pressley was elected, constituents are far more livid than loving it. Even those who support the job Trump’s doing as president are rolling their eyes at his antics as they decide to look past them.
“He’s racist, he’s psychotic and he’s destroying democracy,” proclaimed D.L. Polonsky, who was wearing a “Deport Trump” button last night in Allston, a gritty neighborhood of Boston that Pressley represents.
Polonsky, an anti-Trump political cartoonist, says he’s deeply offended by the president’s latest comments, but not surprised. He sees it as a deliberate political stunt meant to rally Trump’s base.

Would Trumps Support Change If He Were Charged With A Crime
The former president faces a handful of investigations, including from the Department of Justice and the U.S. House select committee on the origins of the Jan. 6 attack, a grand jury looking into potential election interference in Georgia and, most recently, an FBI probe into classified materials removed from the White House and kept at Trumps Florida estate. Some had been recovered or returned earlier this year. But when the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago last month, agents still found more than 100 classified documents and 43 empty folders with classified markings, among thousands of other official records, according to a Department of Justice list of items.
Support for Trumps candidacy in 2024 would not change much if any of these investigations result in Trump being charged with a crime, according to this poll. Sixty-five percent of Americans would oppose another run for the White House. More than six in 10 Republicans would still want to see him launch a campaign. Meanwhile, 73 percent of independents say he should not run again if he is charged.

This poll is just a snapshot of the current political environment. With two months until the midterm elections and another two years until the 2024 presidential election, a lot can still change with the Republican primary field and the investigations.

Pm: Trump Lake Supporters Travel From Arizona Out Of State
As the prayer, pledge of allegiance and national anthem began shortly before 1:30 p.m., attendees were still streaming into the dirt lot at Bell Bank Park. Seats were filled in the relatively small area of floor seating and risers around the speaking platform.
After the national anthem, a chant of USA, USA, USA rose through the crowd. Many wore Trump attire, some wore anti-Biden clothes, and lots wore red, white and blue apparel, including a few people draped in American or Arizona flags.
A few people were carried out on stretchers it was a hot and sunny afternoon.
Were just real Trump people, said Ann-Marie Villicana, who drove from Pasadena, California, on Saturday to see Trump on Sunday.
Villicana said she founded LA Trump and was a delegate from California in 2016. One of her friends is working with Lake so she came out to show support.
Since we havent been able to get out to Arizona to help Kari Lake, we thought the least we could do was donate money, get great seats, she said. She and Robin Salzer had VIP seats.
People are just fed up and I think thats why you see the enthusiasm at these rallies, Salzer said. You see the enthusiasm of every demographic, regardless of race, gender, creed, even sexual persuasion, people are just fed up with the way this countrys going.
Kathy Schafer of Chandler voted for Trump and is a big supporter but said she hadnt gone to one of his events until Sunday.

Trump Should Not Run For President In 2024 Majority Of Americans Say
As former President Donald Trump considers launching another bid for the White House, more than six in 10 Americans do not want him to run in 2024, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. And while Trumps possession of more than 10,000 government documents at his Florida home seems not to have changed the minds of his steady supporters, a plurality of Americans think he has done something illegal.
The level of support for another Trump campaign remains virtually unchanged from December 2020, the month after he lost the presidential election and weeks before a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of the Electoral College votes.
His numbers dont move. Theyre locked in, said Lee Miringoff, the director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion. The good thing for former President Trump is his numbers dont drop. The bad thing is hes only talking about a third of the electorate who are in his corner.

Just 28 percent of independents believe Trump should run again, this poll found, while two-thirds say the former president should sit out the next election. According to 2020 exit polling, 41 percent of independents had voted for Trumps reelection, suggesting a significant cratering of support since.
