Its been a while since I had anything much to say, but I read the Huff every day and get my daily dose of political news, opinions, and insight. I may not agree with everything I read, but Im glad for the fact that someone took the time to write what they had to say, and was able to share it. They expressed a viewpoint, no matter how absurd or extreme, and brought it to the attention of millions around the world.
Of course, such is the power of the internet. We are deeply-rooted now in the Social Age. When people look back on the 1960s through the late 1980s, when we ushered in the personal computer, the cellphone, and the satellite, there is probably no doubt in their minds that information is now, more than ever in the history of the world, power.
Depending on the way you wield it, you can have a very adverse effect on the whole world.
So, Id like to ask a few million people, who feel so strongly positive about the idea of President Donald J. Trump, a question, if I may seeing as how Id probably never get a face-to-face, sit-down discussion with any of you, mostly due to my complete disgust.
Why are you so angry?

Tell me something. Have you ever been to India? How can you possibly believe that your life is worse off than someone elses thousands of miles away? How would you like earning four dollars a day, working 10 or 12-hour shifts?

Instead of money, Trump ostensibly wants a channel to communicate directly with voters. His website advertises exclusive updates for those who subscribe to the texting service.
One problem: Trump doesnt seem to use the service very often.
Two weeks ago, on the day of the Wisconsin primary, I signed up and prepared for The Donald to Make My iPhone Great Again with the exclusive updates I had been promised. Heres how it went.
And then nothing for 14 days.
Last week, Fix colleague Philip Bump had the good idea to subscribe using a New York ZIP code to see whether the Trump campaign might be targeting residents of the Empire State ahead of the primary. He got nothing for five days.
Finally, on primary day Tuesday, the first exclusive updates arrived.
Later, after I asked the campaign about its use or underuse of the text line, both Bump and I received this message.
What. A. Waste.
Maybe, in another message, Trump could ask subscribers to name the No. 1 issue in the campaign: Text A for immigration, B for terrorism, C for trade, D for gun rights.

Donald Trump Asks Judge To Review Shockingly Aggressive Mar
WASHINGTON Former President Donald Trump asked a judge Monday to order the appointment of a special master to oversee the handling of the documents seized in the search of his Mar-a-Lago estate two weeks ago.
The court filing also asks the judge to require the Justice Department to return materials not covered by the scope of the search warrant, which Trump’s team refers to as “overbroad.” The filing also calls the Justice Department’s decision to search the estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on Aug. 8 a “shockingly aggressive move.”
The federal magistrate judge who signed off on the search reiterated earlier Monday that there was “probable cause that evidence of multiple federal crimes would be found” at the estate and doubled down on his decision to authorize the search.
Having carefully reviewed the Affidavit before signing the Warrant, I was and am satisfied that the facts sworn by the affiant are reliable, wrote Judge Bruce Reinhart of the Southern District of Florida.

Over the July Fourth weekend, the Trump campaigns mass text message push was blocked by anti-spam monitors that work with the wireless carriers, according to Politico. A Business Insider story added more detail about Jared Kushner, a White House senior advisor and the son-in-law of the president, and a phone call he had with the three national US wireless carriers.
The move raises questions about how effective these mass text messages a key tool for many politicians will be for the Trump campaign. It also shines a light on the world of peer-to-peer text messaging, which was originally designed for individuals sending a handful of messages, but has since been co-opted by political campaigns, companies and other entities often for legitimate reasons.

After the FBI completed a lawful search of former president Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago estate on Aug. 8, 2022, conservative politicians responded with one of three strategies: silence, circumspection and attack.
Many responses echoed Trumps own framing of the search. In his his residence was under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. In the statement, replete with war metaphors, Trump alleged that executing a legal warrant was the weaponization of the Justice System and an assault that could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.
Trumps framing of the event was quickly echoed by most Republican politicians commenting immediately on Twitter, despite the fact that they, like Democrats and the public, lacked relevant knowledge of the facts of the case that prompted the search and seizure of classified documents.
The impulse to hastily legitimize Trumps perspective illustrates a dangerous rhetorical strategy frequently employed by GOP politicians during the Trump era: message laundering.

The telecom companies are also far more reserved when it comes to staking out a political position, with the carriers previously having praised Trump for his large corporate tax cut in 2017.
When it comes to combatting spam, the motivation is primarily driven by the need to eliminate something most people find annoying.

Whenever I see the face of Melania Trump I find myself asking who is she. Certainly this first lady is a mystery. In fact she is a public figure who rarely speaks. Therefore one of the few clues to who she is her wardrobe. However even that comes up short . In fact I am not the first to mention that Melania Trump wears some great clothes . When we she her we see a parade of some of the most talented designers outfits. But that is just what they are designer clothes without a sense of style .
In fact the first lady has no style . To put it another way, shes a mediocre model, wearing clothes but giving us little else. Since a great model is more about attitude and personality , in her case the previous seems mundane and the latter nonexistent . However we have nothing else to go on. Therefore people are forced to try to figure her out from her wardrobe.
Hence the mystery was there again this week. When she wore a Zara jacket printed with the words I dont really care, do u?. She donned this jacket while en route to visit migrant children at the US-Mexico border. In the middle of a crisis over the Trump administrations family separation policy. In my opinion it seems impossible that not a single person on her team no stylist, PR person, or aide had questioned the harsh implications of that message. Therefore my darlings we have to assume it was intended .

Its Good To See Murdoch Publicly Push Trump To Drop Conspiracies About The 2020 Election Perhaps Those Who Work For Him Can Echo That Message
For more than a year now, weve heard some in conservative circles question the authenticity of the 2020 presidential election. In November 2020, Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump to become president. Thats a fact. But with Trump leading the way and many along for the ride the disproven Big Lie that the presidency was stolen and that our election system is rigged continues to erode the countrys trust in democracy. It already stained one of the hallmarks of our country: the peaceful transition of power.
Sure, its easy to dismiss the likes of a pillow guy and Rudy Giuliani as crackpots pushing goofball conspiracy theories about faulty voting machines and stuffed ballot boxes and dead people voting. But when legitimate news outlets question or amplify the baseless possibilities of unfair elections, the damage is incalculable.
Thats why its a tad frustrating to now hear Rupert Murdoch the executive chairman of News Corp. who oversees outlets such as Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post saying its time for Trump to let go of the past.
Its not that Murdoch is wrong. In fact, hes right. It just would have been nice if Murdoch made a big deal about this in November 2020 instead of November 2021.
Wait, wasnt it less than a month ago when The Wall Street Journals opinion section once again claiming the election was rigged?
And isnt Fox News being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for things said on the air?
