Green Bay Packers V New England Patriots

Don't Miss

How To Watch The Patriots Vs Packers Game Online From Anywhere Using A Vpn

New England Patriots vs. Green Bay Packers | Week 4 2022 Game Highlights

If you find yourself unable to view the game locally due to incorrectly applied blackout restrictions, you may need a different way to watch the game and that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, plus it’s a great idea for when you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. So if your internet provider or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, nonblackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, as long as you’ve got a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

Rodgers Crosby’s Ot Fg Lead Packers Past Pats Zappe 27

GREEN BAY, Wis. Aaron Rodgers rebounded from a dreadful start and helped the Green Bay Packers spoil Bailey Zappe’s unexpected NFL debut with the New England Patriots.

Rodgers threw two second-half touchdown passes and led an overtime drive that resulted in Mason Crosby’s 31-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Packers to a 27-24 victory on Sunday.

The dramatic finish came after Rodgers went 4 of 11 for 44 yards for an 11.2 passer rating in a first-half performance that included New England’s Jack Jones scoring on a 40-yard interception return, lifting the Patriots to a 10-7 halftime lead.

”I settled in and usually don’t have two terrible halves, so I kind of returned to the form I expect from myself, and we started moving the football,” said Rodgers, who went 21 of 35 for 251 yards.

Zappe, a 2022 fourth-round pick from Western Kentucky, played the majority of the game after Brian Hoyer left with a head injury. Hoyer made his first start since 2020 in place of Mac Jones, who injured his left ankle during last weekend’s 37-26 loss to Baltimore.

Hoyer led New England to Nick Folk’s 37-yard field goal on the game’s opening drive, but he got sacked by Rashan Gary on the team’s next series and departed.

Zappe and the Patriots still played well enough to force overtime, but Rodgers continued his recent home mastery of AFC teams. The Packers are 18-1 in the last 19 home games Rodgers has started against AFC foes.

It Was A Win The Packers Needed

AP Photo/Matt Ludtke

The Patriots opened the season with two losses in their first three games, and that was with Mac Jones at quarterback.

They turned to Brian Hoyer to start Sunday against the Packers, but the 36-year-old exited with a head injury and never returned. That forced Zappe, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, into action for the first time.

New England still had quality players on both sides of the ball, even if its QB was inexperienced. But Green Bay knew this was a game it shouldn’t lose, especially with the high expectations it has for this season.

“You can’t be 2-2 losing to a third-string quarterback and not playing great in all three phases,” Aaron Rodgers said, per Mike Spofford of the team’s official site. “So we had to have this one.”

It helped the Packers that they had the two-time defending NFL MVP leading their offense, of course. He may have thrown a pick-six shortly before halftime that gave New England a 10-7 lead, but he also kept Green Bay in the game when it was down and guided it to victory late.

The Packers are now 3-1 and will look to keep their three-game winning streak going.

Defense Comes Up Big In Crunch Time

AP Photo/Morry Gash

It was an up-and-down game for the Green Bay defense. It held New England to 271 total yards and forced one turnover, but the Patriots also had two straight touchdown drives to open the second half when the Packers could have been pulling away.

All that mattered, though, was that Green Bay shut down New England at the most critical points of the contest. And that’s exactly what happened.

The Pats went three-and-out and punted on each of their final two possessions of regulation. Then, on their only drive during overtime, they took over at their own 49-yard line. But the Packers’ defense forced another three-and-out and a punt, and Green Bay won on its next possession.

“That was huge,” Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur said, per Spofford. “There was a moment there, I was like, ‘Oh, man, this is not looking very good.’ Thankfully, our defense came up with a critical stop.”

New England likely only needed about 15 yards to get into field-goal position at that point. So, without Green Bay’s defense coming through in crunch time, it wouldn’t have ended up on top.

Doubs Continues To Prove Himself

AP Photo/Matt Ludtke

Last week, Romeo Doubs scored the first NFL touchdown in his third career game. He is serving a sizable role in the Packers’ offense, as the unit has been looking for young playmakers to step up early in the season.

This week, the 22-year-old wide receiver got into the end zone again. He scored the game-tying touchdown on a 13-yard pass from Rodgers in the fourth quarter, making a nice play to beat his defender just in front of the right side of the end zone.

“He put the ball in the spot where only I can get it,” Doubs said, per Kassidy Hill of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “It comes down to the same exact thing, we work on it in practice all the time. We all know the more consistent you are, eventually you’ll be able to level yourself up as you move forward.”

Sunday’s win also provided some learning experiences for Doubs. He lost a fumble on Green Bay’s second offensive play of the game, and he couldn’t quite haul in a Rodgers pass in the end zone late in the fourth quarter that would have put the Packers ahead and likely could have prevented overtime.

Still, those types of things are to be expected from young receivers, and the way he bounced back to contribute in big ways throughout the win was impressive.

Super Bowl Pregame News And Notes

The Packers were favored to win the game by 14 points, largely because many thought the Patriots were a Cinderella team, and because of the recent dominance of the NFC in Super Bowl games.

The signing of Andre Rison by Green Bay late in the season had been a surprise to the league. Rison had been released by two teams over the previous two years and was known as a serious disciplinary problem for skipping team meetings. The previous year, the Packers had tried to sign Rison and Favre had spoken positively when a deal was not reached, stating “We saved a lot of money, and a lot of heartache because he was a problem internally.” Rison later replied that if he were a defensive player, “I’d try to break his face.” He also added “maybe a couple of years ago, I would have said he’s a hillbilly jealous of a black man making money. But now I’m at this age. No comment.”

To honor former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, who died on December 6, 1996, each player wore a special helmet decal with Rozelle’s signature, “Pete”, printed across the NFL logo. Tributes to Rozelle were also published in the game program.

Coincidentally, the first Super Bowl appearance for the Patriots was also in the Superdome and against an NFC Central team. In Super Bowl XX, the Patriots lost to the Chicago Bears, whose rivalry with the Packers is said to be the NFL’s oldest.

This was the first of three Super Bowls to be called by Summerall and Madden while with Fox .

Do The Patriots Have A Right Tackle Problem

Isaiah Wynn’s 2022 season is going from bad to worse.

The 2018 first-round draft pick entered Sunday as the NFL’s 34th-ranked offensive tackle, per Pro Football Focus, and he made several costly errors Sunday. In addition to being called for a holding penalty and a false start, Wynn was partially responsible for Hoyer exiting the game when he let Rashan Gary blow by him to blast Hoyer for a sack.

Gary later beat Wynn to force a Zappe fumble, after which Marcus Cannon replaced Wynn at right tackle. But the 34-year-old veteran wasn’t a significant upgrade over Wynn, who eventually came back in the game.

Isaiah Wynn came back in at right tackle for Marcus Cannon at the tail end of that drive. Might’ve been because the Patriots wanted a 2-TE look with Cannon as the second TE. Cannon came off after the delay of game call. Wynn stayed at RT. Something to monitor.

Phil Perry

The Patriots’ offensive line was excellent as a run-blocking unit Sunday, helping New England average 5.1 yards per rush. Wynn has been a liability as a pass blocker, however. If the Patriots want better quarterback play, they’ll need better protection, which starts with Wynn stepping up — or New England looking to move him at the NFL trade deadline.

Ike Wynn. Not winning with enough regularity. For the last couple years.
