2015 Jeep Patriot Front Brakes

Don't Miss

What Is A Disc Brake

2015 Jeep Patriot front end brakes and rotors replacement

In a disc brake, two pads are placed on both sides of a rotating metal disc called a rotor. To help the vehicle slow down, these two pads push against the rotor. Brake pads are made from high-friction materials, while the discs are often made from gray iron. However, in high-performance cars, brake pads may also be made of ceramic or carbon fiber. These materials are very good at dissipating heat, which is a by-product whenever you apply the brakes. The more braking force there is, the more heat the brake creates. If the heat doesnt dissipate properly, braking performance suffers and, in extreme cases, the wheels can catch fire.

How Long Do 2015 Jeep Patriot Brake Rotors Last

The answer depends massively on your driving style, the conditions of your daily commute, the type of rotors, and the type of vehicle you’re driving. Usually, 2015 Jeep Patriot rotors need to be completely replaced every 30,000 – 80,000 miles depending on the factors above. It is consistently best to reference your Jeep Patriot maintenance manual for additional information.

It’s very vital to have your whole brake system inspected by a franchise Jeep dealer with OEM certified training to identify potential issues before they cause damage to other components of your brake system. Larry H. Miller Colorado Jeep offers a variety of brake specials including free diagnostics. Call us at 7207039553 or schedule an appointment online today!

Brake Pad Replacement For Your Jeep Patriot

How often should you change your 2015 Jeep Patriotâs brake pads? It largely depends on where and how you drive. In general, brake pads last from 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Factors like frequent highway driving and smooth braking can help your brake pads last longer. If you often haul heavy loads or ride your brakes, your brake pads may wear out sooner. Your brake pad replacement interval also depends on what kind of brake pads you have on your Patriot right now. Are you still driving with the same pads as when you bought the car? Some brake pad materials last longer than others. Luckily, Firestone Complete Auto Care offers brake pad replacement for Jeep Patriots that comes with a limited Lifetime Parts Warranty. Brake checks and brake pad replacements are pretty common for us, and we only use brake parts that meet or exceed Jeep’s standards.

    What Is A Drum Brake

In drum brakes , brake shoes are inside a rotating metal drum. When you use the brakes, the shoes push outward against the drum. The friction between the brake shoes and the inner surface of the drum slows the car down. Drum brakes tend to be less efficient than disc brakes. Brake drums are usually made of cast iron or aluminum, while brake shoes are often made of steel-lined friction material.

What Can Affect The Performance Of A Car Brake

HOW TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKES ON A JEEP PATRIOT FAST & EASY!

One of the factors that you need to look for in a car brake is the peak force. This refers to the maximum force a brake can apply. It determines how fast a brake can slow down a car. Another important factor is fade. When car brakes heat up , they lose friction and result in weaker braking force. This is known as brake fade.

How you use your car determines what kind of car brakes you need. If you drive fast and use your brakes often, you need car brakes with superior heat dissipation. Because car brakes also wear out, you need to check them occasionally. Worn-out car brakes can cause an accident, so it makes sense to check and service them regularly.

What’s Wrong With The Brakes On My Jeep

Car brakes may just be the most important safety feature on any car. Maintaining them is crucial, but a lot of people dont understand how brakes work or what to look for to know whether theyre operating properly. In addition to the obvious safety reasons, maintaining your brakes will help with resale value.

At a basic level, cars like your Jeep use what are called friction brakes. These brakes use the contact between two types of material to bring the car to a halt. A friction brake may be either a disc brake or a drum brake.

Signs And Symptoms Of Bad 2015 Jeep Patriot Brake Rotors

It’s very crucial that you take your 2015 Jeep Patriot into an auto repair shop if you experience any of the following critical warning signs of failing or degrading rotors.

    • Visible score marks on the rotors are a sign that repeated contact has excessively worn down the rotors on your 2015 Jeep Patriot.
    • If you notice decreased and poor brake responsiveness or increasingly longer stopping distances when applying your brakes then your vehicle needs to be expeditiously brought in for examination immediately.
    • Vibrations in the brake pedal when applying pressure. This is a noticeable sign that your 2015 Jeep Patriot brake rotors may be warped or exceptionally worn down.
    • Odd noise or extremely high pitched screeching sounds coming from outside the vehicle when your brakes are applied.

2015 Jeep Patriot rotors should be replaced at or before 70,000 miles but rotors may rapidly degrade even faster depending on your driving habits and an assortment of other factors. Typically you will need to replace rotors in pairs starting with the front axle of your 2015 Jeep Patriot as they tend to wear out quicker. Schedule an appointment online with Larry H. Can I Drive With A Brake Problem

How to replace front brakes on a Jeep Patriot

It is not safe to operate any vehicle with a braking problem. If there is any sign that the brakes are not performing as originally intended, the vehicle should immediately be towed and repaired.

If the brake pads are being replaced as part of routine maintenance, with no symptoms noticed, the vehicle can safely be driven to a repair shop. Also, if the brake wear indicator has begun making noise, the vehicle can be driven to a repair facility, but postponing will result in unsafe driving conditions.

    Jeep Patriot Brake Repair

Your Jeep Patriot may be powered by a strong engine. One thatâs strong enough to take you into high mileage territory. One that can outlast the 170,000-mile mark. But if you can’t stop it, then it’s scrap metal. If you notice your brakes are squeaking or not working well, donât wait! Safe driving is difficult when your brakes are anything but their best. Plus, waiting can lead to more expensive parts wearing out and requiring replacement. For example, if you drive with completely worn out brake pads, your rotors might start to warp, shortening the life of healthy parts due to the metal on metal grinding that occurs. Our technicians work to prevent more brake damage. Get your 2015 Jeep Patriot brakes fixed at Firestone Complete Auto Care. We offer a variety of brake services like brake pad/shoe replacement, brake rotor/drum machining, brake fluid exchange/bleeding, and brake caliper and wheel cylinder installation. Schedule a brake service and repair appointment for your Jeep Patriot.

What Does Abs Mean How Do Abs Brakes Work

ABS stands for anti-lock brakes, a braking system that has been standard on all new cars, trucks and SUVs sold in the United States since 2013.

An anti-lock brake system has sensors on the wheels that report to a computer when a particular brake locks up or begins to skid. If a lockup occurs, the computer takes over and orders the system to begin pulsing the brake. If youve been driving for a while, you may remember the old advice to pump the brakes to prevent a loss of control. ABS means you no longer need to worry about that. In an anti-lock system, the pulsing is very quick: roughly 12 times per second. Every system works differently, but generally the pulsing occurs so quickly that you could not really detect it from the feel of the brake pedal.
